m0useanswered grow question 8 months ago If you want to induce flowering in the plants you have to have solid uninterrupted lengths of darkness should it be a photoperiod plant. It's around 12hrs some can get away with 11 or even 10 but the goal is 12 for safety and simplification.
The days are getting longer here and I will not be able to flower anything in Canada as we will be getting about 16-18hrs days and 8-6hrs nights. Plus city lights fuck it all up.
Autos are the way to go outside, they grow and finish before the season turns to shit, at least hear in Toronto.
As for transitioning from indoor to outdoor, hardening off is KEY! I do it like this,
Place them in the shade for a few days but bring them in at night if its getting to 10c or lower, Builds wind tolerance.
Then give them full sun for a few hours 2-4-6 and back in shade for a few days again back in at night if its getting 10c or lower. build tolerance to the suns spectrum.
Then give them fun sun all day and after that transplant them once they have a night outdoors.
Prepare the plot with lots of microbes and loose soil to help transition it well and give it a good water at the beginning of the day when transplanting. The pit should be mostly dry when moving it over to avoid extra stress of heavy soil pulling on the roots.
Another option is placing them under a screen/thin fabric in full sun. This acts like the shade but has a bit of the suns full spectrum. I sometimes do this and do not move em aorund then plant after a week if they alive. more hands off, sometimes more death. this is all for my tomatoes and peppers I start indoors.
Good Luck!
