Starting my first grow soon but not sure if I should start with photos or autos? If photos; will everything be different from growing an auto or just the lighting schedule? TIA everyone

First grow, definitely photoperiod fems.
Yes, it is only the lighting schedule that is different.
Photos are far easier to learn with, handle small mistakes and you control when flowering occurs.
Autos can be finicky, don't handle mistakes, bloom when they want to and unless you have top shelf equipment and a good knowledge of fertlizers and cannabis biology, can give very disappointing results for newbies, as in dwarf plants flowering and then waiting 3 months to harvest an eighth.
Photos will be much more "user friendly" and are best for learning with.
I have been growing for 40 years and tried autos for 5-6 years before giving them away as a joke, they do not offer me anything that I can not already achieve easier and better with photos and all in roughly the same time frame. (yes, I hate autos!)
If you are growing indoors, photos will need far less electricity too, since you only need 12/12 for flowering and not 18/6.
Something worth considering if you are on a budget.

Whatever you grow, if you do it right youll have excellent weed.
Now, i personally go for autos bcs they grow faster and they are easier to handle. I use bio bizz all mix soil and chicken poop pallets 4-4-4 for the beginning. i only water 4 weeks and then i start to water with some bloom fertilier until 2-3 weeks before cut

Everything is virtually the same. Most of the supposed differences are just misguided perceptions.
The light cycle is the primary difference. You don't have to worry about an uninterrupted dark cycle to cause and maintain flower phase.
This may sound "easier" but the fact that autoflowers are on a timer instead of your control, all mistakes are amplified. I'd learn how to grow immaculate plants from seed to harvest with photoperiods before delving into autoflowers. they are a great idea for growing out of season outside when the length of night would normally not allow a harvest or to avoid a wet season and all the problems that come with it.
Making sure a tent or room stays dark isn't so hard. It shouldn't intimidate anyone. Use a baffle box or some sort of light labrynth for your exhaust or intake ducts etc.. do your best to make the encompassing room dark too and you have 2x the confidence it's fine.

Autos can do some weird stuff on their own, photoperiods can take HST better and you control when you flip to flower making that part easy autos do not.
Autos are great outdoors as they finish early and can flower under full sun and finish before the wet season comes in, photos do not.
Grow Autos outside and photoperiods inside.
