And new stem grew long time ago, it has single calaxies or small buds already. From single fingered leaves i think you stressed plant too much, with what we can only guess, light duration, too much defoliation, too much N in flower ... could be many reasons... Plant will try to survive and make seeds for creating next generation, thats how nature goes ..
