My first proper indoor grow. Got limited time before moving out so hoping to get this grow done in 10 weeks from seed to harvest. Might have to keep the veg stage pretty short. like 2-3 weeks max. I am not decided on many things yet such as what nutritients, light..only just recieved my small grow tent but excited beyond belief lol. I think I will only start with some CFLs for the first few days of veg but hoping to get LED light asap. Fingers crossed the seed will germinate.
Btw I named her TiAMAT _ mother of life.
If it's just for one seed. 23 watt 6500k bulb will do. Just keep it 3 to 4 inches above the seed when it pops out. If you don't have a 6500k bulb 5000k will do. Best of luck with your grow.
Pretty exciting first week of a grow. I planted the seed with only a tiny root which maybe made it more difficult for the seedling to lose its shell. I wasnt sure whether to intervene or let grow. as the shell was pretty hard (regardless of me constantly misting) I decided to try taking it off so it wouldnt start rotting or suffocating from the inside.
After I gently took of the helmet but the cotyledons were still wrapped in this slimey membrane which i manage to gently remove as well. From then on, it went smoothly.
On the last day 07 I noticed the plant started 'praying' as I think the CFL was getting way too close to the seedling. it was like 2-3 cm. so I moved it up to 8 cm and everything was back to normal.
Tiamat is now around 6 cm tall.
No nutrients yet. Not sure what I am going to use. I am considering to use just your basic fertilisers you can get in any gardening centre (but lets see where it will take me).
New LED light (spider farmer 1000) has arrived so started using it right away only at 50% intensity for now.
Second set of true leafs seem to have 5 fingers which might be a good sign of something special growing here :)
The seedling (TiAMAT) is now about 8 cm long but hoping the vegetative stage will kick in soon and bring on some faster growth. So far no fertilising.
Btw Let me know what you think and if the seedling looks all well and healthy :)
week 3 of the growth. 3 strong nodes of true leafs and 4 sets of leaf under way. We have 5 and 7 finger leafs already.
TiAMAT must be loving life as the leafs are just huge. The plant is like over 30 cm in width and 12 cm tall.
However I did notice the big leafs tend to droop a bit so i think she might be thirsty for proper watering finally. Since in a big pot from seed, I have only been watering sparingly in the middle. No nutes yet. just water. I am getting a PH and TDS meter next week so we can really get more scientific with this grow.
Last day of this week I started some LST but very low stress I will push it more over the next couple of days.
Let me know what you think or if you see any concerns which might need fixing.
Amazing week for growth. LST did its thing and helped my girl to grow bushier. Some huge fan leafs seem to be a bit droopy (dont think its because of over/under watering thou.
No fertiliser used yet. I got myself a PH and TDS meter, which got me rather concerned. I watered at around 7.4 ph and 420 ppm but the runoff is off the scale!!! Runoff PH was way acidic..around 5.5 ph. second watering was a bit better but still under 6. Runoff ppm was also worrying of around 2000 ppm. Trying to flush but I have definitely chosen a wrong soil to grow in.
Note to myself: dont be a cheapskate and buy a proper soil for cannabis grow.
At the end of the week I went away for 2 nights so Tiamat will be unattended, hence 2 days without any progress photos.
Overall not a bad week. After being away for 2 nights i was pleased that nothing extreme happened to my girl.
However, Ph of the soil is becoming more of a concern now. I only been watering with dechlorinated tap water at around ph 7.3 with some runoff which came out at 6, then 6.3. Also the runoff water has still very high ppm value. First time I measured it was at 3600! wtf. I havnt even fed my girl yet, it must be this shitty mixure of soil. gradually it went down to 2200ppm, then 1900, then 1000 and now its just under 1000...but still now feed. my tapwater is pretty hard though and has 400ppm.
I want to flip to FLOWER soon but really want to sort of the soil first and the deficiencies. so might have to hold off another week or so if needed.
Also first time I defoliated. only took of few leafs to improve light and air penetration. Left some big fan leafs at the bottom to see the progress of deficiencies as they might take those unhealthy leafs soon anyway and its good for me to use them as a guide.
And here we are week 6 and we are still vegging :D
I was meaning to flip to flower but decided to wait and address my soil ph and ppm isues first.
On day 37 I tried feeding a little bit with this basic babybio houseplant fertilizer, but realised ppm and ph runoff values were still off the scale and got worse which probably meant my girl was locked out. PPM IN was 430 ( my tap water is like 370) and PH IN was 6.8.. PPM runoff - 1,200 and PH runoff - 5.92. NOT IDEAL.
Thats why on day 38 I decided to flush her like crazy with like 5-7 litres of just tap water. Managed to bring the PPM to 354 and PH back to 6.37 which I am happy about. Struggled with high humidity (70-78%) for a day but next day we were back to business again.
I havent watered or fed her again since. but hopefully She will come back stronger and appreciate this in a long run.
Ordered some BIO BIZZ organic nutes so soon everything will be ready and align to flip to flower.
I am a bit gutted I decided to grow her in 5l pot only. tempted to repot but that would further delay flowering so I might just go with it and see what happens.
I would love hear your thoughts :)
Peace
Eventful last week of vegging.
Although I wanted to get this grow done in 5 litre pot only, i decided to repot as my girl was getting root bound and wasnt taking in nutrients properly and needed to be watered almost every day.
Unfortunately I had wrong soil and not big enough pot to replant into. So now we ended up n 7.5 litre pot. And also BIOBIZZ nutes came so started introducing some BIOBIZZ GRO.
Tiamat is loving the new size pot and food. She didnt even get stunted too much so this will be the last of vegging.
Might need to add more soil at some point and also defoliate more after a couple of weeks.
First week of flower!
yay I thought I never get this far lol.
Due to deficiencies and repotting it took long for Tiamat to be ready to flower but here we are now.
I am feeding BIOBIZZ Gro, Bloom, and TopMax in small amounts. Finally all the deficiencies stopped spreading so the Nutes are doing their thing.
Some pistils have showned up in this week but no sign of buds forming yet.
Towards the end of the week, we had a little heatwave which increased my tent temperatures to around 27 C but the humidity is more worrying which is pretty high for flower. around 60-65 %. Will need to address this somehow.
Also used mineral water with low ppm (100) to water instead of my tap water which is so hard (400 ppm).
I'll keep you posted on progress.
