I learned an important lesson about growing outdoors in my area this week. I left the hose on with the nozzle closed hanging from a small branch near my site. Droplets of water leaked and over time accumulated and caused white poweder mold (wpm) to appear all over the crepe myrtle tree that the hose was hanging on. Infection showed up on several plants. I treated the plants with a mix of 1 quart water to 1 tablespoon baking soda applied liberally at dusk with a fine mist sprayer. A few leaves were removed from several plants but I am happy to report the infection is contained and the plants are recovering well. I am trying super cropping with a few plants by pinching the stems gently. The plants are responding well and the stem regrowth is showing. I would like to try main lining one or two plants b/c this strain grows so large. I love everyday in the garden. Wish me luck 🍀
