Day 22. Thought I’d give LST a go. Holy shit was that tense! Hopefully I’ve done it right and not done any damage. Also given first nutes, I went with 1/4 the recommended dose as I don’t really see any signs of deficiencies. My only concern is both plants seem quite short compared to other diaries with not a lot of growth between each node. Do I need to get them to stretch somehow? Day 23. Man, I’m so pleased with the progress from yesterday. Everything that was turned down after LST is already facing up to the light. Only problem is I now don’t know if LST recovery is always like this or is it because I added first nutes on the same day? Tucked a few leaves on each plant to get more light to lower branches but after the way they recovered after yesterday I’m expecting the fan leaves to pop right back to the top. Day 24. Most tucked leaves did go back to original positions, but there is definitely growth on the lower branches. So I have adjusted the LST and re-tucked. Hopefully not long until I can tie down some secondary branches. Watered 1l each with 1/4 nutes, cal mag and a pinch of great white. Dropped the lights a couple of cm closer. Day 25. Spotted the first pre flowers on eddy 2 today. Although she’s a few hours younger she really seems to have overtaken eddy 1 in the last day or so. Tightened up LST and tucked leaves again. Day 26. Eddy 2 is flying ahead now, done some LST on secondary branches. I have switched their positions in the cabinet to see if this bring eddy 1 along a bit. Not quite ready for next watering today. So should be tomorrow. Day 27. Watered this morning with 1/4 nutes. Upped amount of water to 1.5l per plant which gave about 8% run off. Bit more LST on eddy 2 as she seems to respond really well. Eddy 1 still lagging behind. Wonder if it’s due to dropping a hygrometer on her in week 1? Day 28. Nothing done today. Thought they could do with a day off.

Grow Questions

SparkyGrowstarted grow question 4 years ago
Should I up the nutes? I’ve been feeding 1/4 amount for the last 3 feeds. I’ve read that after first week of 1/4 up it to 1/2, but from what I can see (foliage pic added) everything looks like it’s quite healthy. Will plant benefit with more or should I stay as I am? Cheers

Hi mate, your plant looks really healthy so I would hold of just now. Soil growing is very forgiving so you'll see issues straight away. I'd wait till she had grown a little before increasing nutrients. By that time you may be in flower so it works out. Good luck and happy growing.

Hi, I have broken the main stem on a fast eddy automatic while doing LST. I only noticed it this morning after LST yesterday. The tip of the stem and all leaves after the break seem to have bounced back up to the light since yesterday. will she be ok? Anything I can do to help?

If you are happy with the direction your plant is growing, just leave as it is, it will be fine and grow normally despite the fractured stem. There is no need to bandage the fracture in any way - covering it with something is more likely to induce a mould or fungus to attack the break. Leave it to air dry and it will heal over with a crust and be perfectly fine. Trying to move it after leaving it for so long will likely cause more damage and is not recommended. If this happens again in the future, using a splint attached with some soft wire or string above and below the break, and put in place within a few minutes of the break occurring can result in the break healing completely, allowing you to remove the splint after 2-3 weeks, checking that the stem can hold the weight before removing the splint entirely. A bamboo stake, skewer or wooded stick all make good splints, but once again, make sure not to cover the fracture when tying on the splint, the fracture needs to air dry and heal. I keep a selection of dried and various lengths and thicknesses of cannabis stems/branches from previous harvests for use as splints, should I have a need to use them in future grows. It is then simply matching the old stem size to the size of the fractured stem/branch. High stress training can involve snapping stems and is very similar to fractures, and the plants do not seem to suffer in any way from this technique. Cannabis is a remarkably resilient plant and I have had tree branches fall on outdoor plants, doing many fractures and much damage, but after removing the tree branches and allowing a couple of days for the cannabis plant to sort itself out, have had them then grow and flower as though nothing ever happened to them at all. Hope this helps,............ Organoman.

Hi all, noticed some brown spots on leaves, from google images I’m assuming cal/mag deficiency. Anyone able to confirm or advise on what it is before their next feed? Cheers

The two curling leaves in the bottom picture look like there is a hotspot. If it’s the plant the cfl light was on it’s probably just a little light bleach. You usually want them like 4-6” from leaf. Happy growing looking good!

Can anyone give me a clue as to why the leaves on my fast eddy are going this colour, she’s fed every 2 days with tri part nutes. At 1/2 the recommended dosage. Guessing she’s got about 2 weeks until I start to flush her. Thanks

I would be tempted to alter your feed to grow 0ml/L Micro 0.7ml/L Bloom 1.4ml/L Cal Mag 0.5ml/L You prob have a few weeks left till you start flushing, your plant will be taking nutrition away from the big leaves at this stage. When they start looking bad like that I tend to remove them to allow light to lower parts. The reason I say change your feed to above is to lower N and increase P and K

Are these buds likely to fatten up? Looking very long and spindly. Photos are day 66 of an expected 84 (?) grow. Main cola tip starting to get amber trichs. Is this fox tailing?

Looks like one of those strains that just builds fat calyxes on top of each other in a fashion that is similar to fox tailing Looks like everything is in order tho. It should pack on some more weight for sure.. but I wouldn’t expect anything like double or triple size at this point

Hey man. Nice plants 😄 To me, purple stems and yellowing leaves means MG deficiency. I would treat this by watering with Epsom salts at 1 teaspoon per litre. Sometimes cal-mag can cause more harm than good. If you don't have a calcium deficiency then you will end up with a calcium excess which locks out magnesium. There is no such thing as a cal-mag deficiency - they are two different elements and it is easier to treat them separately. Hope this helps, and good luck with the project 🙏🏻

@SparkyGrow, Epsom salts instead of cal-mag 👍🏼 not both!

@GhettoSetUp, thanks for that mate. Would you carry on using cal mag then add Epsom salt as an extra on top of that? Appreciate the help.
