Hello everyone and welcome to my summertime outdoor grow journal. So far this spring i've been playing with autoflower seeds. go check out my other journals for those journeys. I live in the southwestern part of Ontario Canada. The weather is typically excellent and outdoor plants normally do very well in full sun, which is where I'm set up. I have a 75cm x 75cm raised wooden planter box that will be home to a Northern Lights x Big Bud AUTO. The seeds are from Canuk Seeds just like my other plants this year but this is the first one ill be putting outside. Grown in soil and with sunshine I plan on using Dutch Science Nutrients for all three stages of growth. So far I have been having success with this brand of nutrients, they're easy to use and gentle enough to not overload the plants. That said, according to DSN you should only feed a 1/2 strength solution to autoflower plants so that's what we'll do😁 , I have two dogs so larger pests and animals shouldn't be a problem. Last summer I did have some trouble with leaf-hoppers during the dryer mid summer months and powdery mildew in the fall. Since this year i'm using autoflower seeds my plant should be ready well before September. The earlier harvest time should help to avoid any mildew issues but I will definitely have to keep my eyes open for hoppers and aphids.😈 My goals for this grow are to concentrate on and one grow a big bush with lots of sticky buds. Here's hoping for a potent and bountiful harvest.

Hello everyone and welcome to week one of my outdoor autoflower grow. Like my indoor plant I'll be growing a Northern Lights x Big Bud Autoflower by Canuk seeds. I'm planning on growing this one without training and hope she become a nice fat bush. She's just a baby so I've haven't been feeding her anything other than water so far. Weather wise we got out first good soaking of rain and she doesn't seem to look overwatered so I'm hoping she's putting down some deep roots. Looks like lots of sunshine ahead in the forecast too.☀️☀️☀️ Looking ahead I'd like to give our girl one good feeding with Dutch Science Nutrients Seed and Root formula before we move on to Grow Girls Grow. I'll probably do that in the next day or so once the soil dries out more. 😎😎😎 See y'all next week and be sure to check out my other journals they all offer something different 😅🇨🇦

Week 2 of our outdooor autos is going very well despite the high temperatures we've had this week in Southern Ontario (CAN). Temps have been in the high 20s/80s but there's been plenty of sunshine. We did get our first good rain of the season just before things got hot so our little Northern bell has weathered extremes well. This week I will continue to stimulate root growth with DSN's Seed and Root formula and next week we switch to DSN's Grow Girls Grow. I also picked up some DSN Cal-Mag so I'll be adding that in as well. Looking for some rain this week but I'll take sunny days and cool nights anytime. 😎😎😎

This lady is getting tall. She's doubled her height in a week I'm hoping that means deep roots. Dutch Science only recommends their Seed and Root formula for the first two weeks of growth. This being week number 3 we will be switching to Dutch Science's Grow Girls Grow combined with a little Cal-Mag supplement also from Dutch Science. Since i'm starting her off with the Cal -Mag i'm hoping I can avoid some of the nutrient imbalances that have pooped up in my other diaries. We got mega sunshine this week and some pretty scorching temperatures but the high humidity prevented things from getting too crispy so our girl has made it through her first Ontario heat wave no worse for wear. However... with heat come pests. There's obviously something feasting on the tasty leaves of our girl but i'm not sure what exactly so I gave her a spray with Safer's Insecticidal soap. It worked with leaf hoppers last year so I'm hoping this is a similar case. Unless its caterpillars. I hate caterpillars. Not nearly as much sunshine in the forecast this week, but it looks like a few good rain storms so i wont need to water much this week at all. Edit. Upon further reading it looks like it may be Caterpillars afterall. Will treat with BTK.

This week has been a reminder of why it's easier to grow indoors. This week's I've had to deal with both caterpillars and flies so I treated with BTK and Insecticidal soap respectively. I seemed to have managed to keep the critters from feasting on too much of our girl. She's still growing steady in the lovely June sun. We did get some rain this week so it's been a nice balance perfect growing weather. My other plants and veggies have been doing great too. I've been keeping up with the full strength Cal-Mag supplement but I've also started feeding full strength Grow Girls Grow as these seem to be hungry autoflowers always wanting more nutrients. I've had more issues with deficiencies than anything else so I figured since Dutch Science is a nice gentle organic fertilizer let's move to full strength. If my other plants of this strain are any indication I would imagine that flowering in no more than 14 days away maybe less. I'd like to see this one get quite a bit taller before that happens. So fingers crossed🤞

Man the weather has been good so far, lots of sunshine and lots of rain, make for happy plants. Its been two weeks since our last update and pests continue to be an issue. I've just been using the insecticidal soap because i think the caterpillars have moved on to eat other things or they're past the munchie stage of their life cycle. Either way I don't see any increasing damage from caterpillars. Since she was growing so well and from past experience with my other Northern Lights x Big Bud I decided to give our girl a little chop at the top. The sunshine has been penetrating well but I still wanted her to branch out a bit so I took this last opportunity before the stretch to top. These autoflowers are pretty resilient and this strain has an extra two weeks in its flowering period. This will probably the last week of using DSN Grow Girls Grow as well be switching to Bloom stage nutrients very soon.

Flowering is well underway but so far it has been a pretty soggy July. I've had to keep a sharp eye out for mildew but there's finally some sunshine in the forecast. I hope things dry out a bit. Since we've had so.much rain I haven't been able to feed so I'm seeing some yellow leaves which tells me that we're lacking in Nitrogen. Today I gave them a good dose of Bloom Baby Bloom with some Cal Mag both from DSN. That, along with the upcoming sunshine should make for some happy plants

No more feeding starting to flush this week. Plants smells fantastic and I think with some trimming it will make a lovely bouquet. I think this is going to turn out to be a great gift for a friend of mine.
