Tap root for the Afghani seed was very small and hard to see even after 28hrs.
Maybe should have been warmer conditions.
Planted both in 10" Clay pots with drainage holes.
Soil I used was "Shulz premium potting mix" (peat Moss, perlite, composted organic material and lime)
Lightly watered just after planting and got some light rain after about 5 hrs of sun.
Couple of days of very poor weather and no sun. had to bring inside overnight 3x because of freezing temps.
Both seeds did come up, look decent and are beginning to take shape.
16 hours of sun yesterday and today.
Thinking of adding nutrients soon. Have to research.
Seem to be progressing well - both plants. The Afghani is thickening quicker than the Northern lights and are at similar heights.
Decided not to add other nutrients, I figure as long as they are doing ok I won't mess with anything.
Weather was much better, a lot warmer and good amount of sunshine.
Will continue watering as needed and will bring them into shelter whenever weather conditions become potentially harmful or far less than ideal.
It's been almost 2 weeks since the last post and decided during that time that I may be over over watering and reduced to half litre each and allow top soil to dry before watering again.
Northern Lights is starting to pre-flower Afghani looks close as well. Might try to trim or soft tie some of the big leaves on the Afghani as it is quite thick and short. Kind of nervous to try so i will have to research.
Think I will also need to transplant to bigger pots in 2 or 3 weeks as well.
The Northern Lights is starting to flower quite nicely but the Afghani is not quite there yet.
Afghani would definitely benefit from trimming but I want to leave it alone just to see what happens. The NL is starting to flower at lower nodes as well as getting a pretty good top cola, not as leafy as the Afghani so sun gets through quite well.
Transplanted into larger pots today - will have to be the final resting place - I think.
I guess I should be looking at more nutrients now too.
Tragedy has struck one of plants NL turned out to be male and had to be destroyed - not sure how much the Afghani will be affected (was still in pre-flower) - great learning experience seeing a male 1st hand and can now identify it, simply put if it has "balls" it's a male.
Extremely warm and sunny for a week now - Afghani is starting to flower nicely, lots of sites but very small still, maybe additional nutrients would increase this, might add something and see what happens.
I can now definitely see the difference between male and female with the presence of the pistols on the flowering sites.
A little concerned about yellowing of 2 leaves near the base of the plant but top where the good stuff is looks good.
