I just got my new auto seed order in from UK. Got several freebies that are photoperiods. I have been wanting to do a photo run and an outdoor grow, so I figured what the heck, no better time than now! Plus I have zero room in either of my grow tents…so anything I start now will have to be done outdoors. I decided to go with a blueberry fem, in some Promix HP and a 3 gallon plastic pot I had lying around. Put her outside among my patio vegetable garden…that’ll do just nicely. The weather has been great in my neck of the woods so this probably good timing to get her going and done before weather turns cold later in the year. There was a dope tree frog next to my porch that I added a few pics of because it was so freaking cool looking. I’ve lived where I do for most of my life and I have never seen one of these guys before…crazy! I have not done a photo run yet so this should be interesting. Wish me (and the tree frog) luck.

This little girl is so teeny tiny and very slow to grow. I’m sure I’ll eat these words when she’s a monster due to Thai cross, but still…man is she piddly at the moment. Is this normal with photos? That they start out slow? Or do I have a different issue that I’m not seeing? I had a few days of straight over cast, I wonder if that impacted her growth.I have been moving her around chasing the sun patterns to max what she gets for the past few days. Hopefully she takes off like a rocket soon. Not much to mention at this early stage…other than she’s alive…which I’ll take. For the heck of it I tossed in a few shots of her closet neighbors, a couple tomato’s and sugar pea plant.

Well…technically she’s growing…I’m hoping it’s a fluke, or maybe I’m so used to autos, or maybe because it’s been so overcast more often than not this past week…eithe which way, she’s still pretty tiny. I have high hopes because the last two days have been all sun all day and she’s done most of her “growing” this far in that time frame. Still giving plain water in am and I check her mid day to see if she dried out, if so I’ll apply a little more water around perimeter of pot so as not to drown her out. Fingers crossed she takes off like a bat outta hell any day now…I’m sure I’ll look back and laugh at how anxious I’m being. Hopefully next update is like night vs day. Take care…please opine if you have any thoughts. Should I have started this photo in a smaller pot and then transplanted? Would be good to know for next time. I’m considering starting another in case this little girl doesn’t make it.

I’m feeling a lot better with how she looks. Just needed a few days of some intense sun…which there has been no shortage of lately!! God damn it’s hot out! I’ll start to introduce some light nutes this week, continue to water, and keep her in the sun as much as possible. Next time I run a photo I’ll do it right and start out in a much smaller pot and transplant up as I go. This may be why she started out so slow. Hopefully she’ll continue to catch up.

I gave this little engine that could her first feed, and she seems to have enjoyed it given she put on a couple inches this past week. I also just topped her, lots of conflicting information out there, I decided to wait until she had 4 nodes and then off that little too came. Not much else to report, she’s doing fine despite my shaky start, I’ll fix these errors in my next photo run…my brain is wired for autos, I need to be cognizant that the rules are a little different now. Baby steps my friends, baby steps.

So far she seems ridiculously healthy, she’s more tall than bushy…I have lots of questions, will disperse in update, please feel free to opine. I have been feeding every other watering pH’d to 6.5 (ish, within a tenth +/-), I think she’s responded to the topping quite well, the side nodes have growth a good bit. So, first question, how often should/can I top her? Where should the next sites be after topping the upper most growth point? I did not start her in a smaller pot, went straight to a 5 gallon…I know, I know, that’s not the preferred path for a photo, BUT, given I did that…when should I repot again? Ultimately I aim to get her into a 15-20 gallon pot to finish her out. I am an auto grower, that’s where I began this awesome journey, but I really want to expand my horizons and incorporate photos outdoors…I have the space and time, just need some pointers…I love my autos but I really want to grow a freaking monster…that would be stellar! Not much an update, more of a plead for knowledge, but all in all she seems to be doing well. She’s green, healthy, putting on inches by the day and seems content with her set up. Thanks all…take it slow!

This little blueberry is doing freaking fabulous! Her canopy started reaching the rim of pot so I decided to repot her in her final destination for this run. I wish I had a 20 gal cloth pot, but the biggest I have on hand is 10 gal plastic pot, I hope this doesn’t restrict her to much. The plastic pot will do…maybe I’ll punch a few extra holes in the side and make a ghetto air pot!! Other than the first topping a couple weeks ago I have done no other training. I have several more weeks of 14-15 hour sun filled days before she’ll switch over to flower…hoping I can make her an absolute beast before then! I put some fencing around her to help with training and limb support as we go. It’s a bit tall so I may cut the top foot off, I’ll wait for now just in case she gets super tall. Can always cut it off later. I’m in uncharted territory with a photo run, but I think it’s going great so far…fingers crossed! Take it slow out there…blaze on my growmies!!!

Can anyone tell me what this might be?? Dark green almost blister like, affected parts are soft to the touch. Could it be genetic? Or a virus😬? I went all over this plant, only 3 fan leaves show this marking, a 4th leaf has a weird mutation closet to petiole?

It looks like chemical burns; u sure you haven't managed to pour nutrient water on the leaves, when watering the plant? 😂

The only thing I could find was broad mite damage but that's just a guess. I seen a few similar looking pictures on growweedeasy.com Lots of great information there if you can't get it here. Good luck and atleast the damage is very minimal

Apologies for the late update…it’s been a crazy couple weeks!! This gorl continues to grow just fine, but I’m still seeing these strange dark colored spots on leaves and centered around base of new growth. I’m starting to think this may be pest related, I’m just not seeing any actual pests yet…one member of community mentioned broad mites…this is a contender at the moment. I’ll be reaching out regarding what other folks do for their IPM with outdoor grows. Aside from the purple/black discoloration I don’t see anything else that is of concern. She continues to put on inches, she’s responded great to the additional topping(s) and I plan on topping 4 more sites in the next few days. Feel free to opine if y’all see something I don’t!!! Take it slow my people!!

The Blueberry continues to grow pretty well. She not very dense or high in the foliage category, but maybe that’s genetics. Perhaps it has to do with starting her late, I really don’t know. I’ve already defoliated my 4 week old autos once for Pete’s sake! This girl just ain’t that bushy! She’s due for a feed in next day or so. Will start to up bloom nutes. Bud sites are decent, if she fills in what she’s has so far it would be a very nice yield…I’m not complaining!!! But a few bud sites more would be oh so much nicer😜. She has a few very teeny tiny almost imperceptible pistils on two main colas from very first topping. I also recently topped the 4 secondary branches. I don’t think I’ll do anymore. It’s totally cool, I happy she seems to be doing well. Days up here are at about 14.5 hrs of sunlight. In another couple weeks it’ll be down to 13 hrs…pretty sure she’s going to be transitioning into flower very soon, I can’t wait! The purple spots and dark coloration has not gone away, or improved. It has not spread to any other part of plant and it kind of goes away as the fan leaves grow out. I have researched a ton and as you can imagine there are several theories all with different fixes from the drastic to your SOL so deal with it. 1. Broad mites 2. Morning Sun magnifying dew droplets burning new growth 3. P or Mo deficient 4. Genetics I have not closed out the question I posted about it…it’s so weird and info is vague and ambiguous…I want to give it some time so more folks can opine…someone out there has to know what this is. I found another forum with exactly what I have but the answers/suggestions were just as broad. Crazy…BUT…this girl keeps growing, leaves aren’t burnt or necrotic…I don’t want to necessarily let sleeping dogs lay in this instance…but I might have to out of fear any one of the “treatment” has a detrimental effect on her.
