@ZoobZoob_farmZ, I also know the center of that agave, and the young trunk when it flowers, can be cooked too. Perhaps even roots (but I am unsure).

@ZoobZoob_farmZ, Yes it only flowers once (and takes about 20 years), very suddenly grows very big trunk, then it dies. Those flowers were bright yellow/orange, but because it was very cold at the time (as cold as -6c, mid-winter, July last year), they went black later. Apparently it has very interesting sugar/syrup in it, used for cooking or wine. I didn't know that then though.
