Ferinky I germinated 3 regular seeds, 2 germinated as expected and one of them needed my help to open the seed. Out of the 3 seeds, 1 grew a lot and very quickly; another grew more moderately and the one that got stuck in the seed has had its problems as you can see. I hope that in a couple of weeks they have shown their sex so I can proceed to take cuttings and start the training.

Ferinky It hasn't shown its sex yet, so I'll have to wait to transplant since they are regular seeds. This week it has grown like a champion and I've been able to take cuttings to keep the variety in case I like it. The apical cut was made halfway up the plant to take advantage of the cuttings, and the side branches are being trained with LST using wire. I also removed the less useful leaves and shoots.

Ferinky This week it was time for transplanting to the final pot, but since I still don't know their sex, I've decided to do an intermediate transplant to a 6L pot to avoid planting a male in a 50L pot. I'm using a 100% organic supersoil for the transplant. Once they show their sex, the females will go into the big pot and the males... we'll see what we do with them. I removed the LST wires to make the transplant easier and I'll leave it for a couple of days without them. For the supersoil, I used my own mix made up of: Peat Worm humus Coco Perlite Vermiculite Horse, goat, and sheep manure Homemade compost Clay pebbles for drainage I added the following organic fertilizers: Blood meal Bone meal Fish meal Rock meal Dolomite Epsom salts Bat guano Seaweed extracts Neem meal I let the mix sit for 8 weeks, moist in the final pot, so it would be ready to use on transplant day. Ferinky None of the 3 plants seem willing to show me their sex, so I have to wait another week...

Ferinky Out of the 3 seeds, the smallest one was discarded, although all 3 turned out to be females. It's growing at a good pace while I tension the wires and prune it. I'm alternating the waterings, one with just tap water and the other I add Cannazym. So far, after more than two months of life, I haven't added any nutrients; with the initial super soil mix, it seems to have everything it needs.

Ferinky I couldn't update on week 11, but here we have its current state, it's starting to stretch to prepare for the pre-flowers. Last week I adjusted the LST wires and did the last defoliation trimming.

Ferinky These are the days when the transition to flowering really starts to show. I'm fertilizing for the first time with solid seaweed extract (Ascophyllum Nodosum) at a rate of 0.5g/L, alternating with watering with just water and another watering with Cannazym.

Ferinky In this update, I'm including 2 weeks since I couldn't add the previous week due to work. On August 15th, it received the second spraying of Bacillus Thuringiensis to prevent caterpillar attacks. I'm still alternating watering with water one day and watering with Ascophyllum Nodosum the next day. I've stopped watering with Cannazym.

Ferinky This week it has started to show its flowers and is finishing stretching. I continue alternating water-only irrigations with one of water with 100% organic bio-stimulant Ascophyllum Nodosum: Alginate acid 16% Mannitol 4% Nitrogen 2.5% Soluble Potassium oxide 18.5% It will also receive its third spraying of Bacillus Thuringiensis to protect it from caterpillars.

Ferinky This week it got its first summer storm, but it handled it without any issues thanks to the branches being secured with LST wire. I took the opportunity to do a light defoliation and clean off dead leaves. I've watered once with Ascophyllum, another time with Cannazym, and the rest just water; it's been drinking about 3-4 liters every day for 40 days.

Ferinky Final stretch of flowering, the buds keep fattening up, the leaves are yellowing, and the smell is getting more intense. This week I'm including a general photo from all angles. According to the seed bank, the harvest should be ready by the end of September, although by its appearance, I would say it will take a few more days.

Ferinky This week I only watered once with Ascophyllum at the beginning of the week, and the rest were just waterings. The buds are fluffy and elongated, with a sativa appearance, and you can already notice their characteristic smell.

Ferinky Hello and thanks for stopping by to check out my diary. I discovered this strain 20 years ago. In 2001, in my town, my father and his friends were growing a cannabis they called "Madre," growing plants up to 4 meters tall and just as wide, true monsters of guerrilla cultivation in the mountains of eastern Spain. When I tried it at 18, I knew it was something really special. It was a time when trips to Amsterdam were common, and every now and then, a friend would bring back a sample of the best they found; well, we always said that if this "Madre" were in the Dutch coffee shops, it could compete and dethrone many myths of that era. When I asked José, one of my father's friends who maintained the strain, to explain more about it, he told me he could only pass it to me as a cutting since they hadn't stabilized the strain and the seeds had very varied phenotypes. I spent 2 years cultivating that cutting (now known as the Mario Clone), with very good results, but at 18, my skills as a grower were limited, my knowledge about cloning and maintaining mothers was nonexistent, and I ended up losing that clone. Later, due to police raids in those mountains, everyone who had maintained this genetic for years ended up losing it, keeping seeds that never reached the level of the original strain. Until Mario Bellandi, the creator of the strain, and his seed bank Delicatessen Seeds managed to stabilize it through regular and feminized seeds. In 2014, I bought a pack of feminized seeds, and the result was more than good, definitely reminiscent of that ancestral gem but not quite reaching the level of the original Clone. This time, I grew the Reina Madre starting from 3 regular seeds, and I believe the result has been even closer to the original, which is a huge success for me. One of the 3 seeds died before reaching maturity, and the other two turned out to be two females, very similar to each other. I put one in a 50L pot and the other in a 20L pot. The plants grew without any problems except for some deficiencies that appeared prematurely, especially nitrogen. Since it was a 100% organic grow and only with tap water irrigation without adding liquid fertilizers, it was expected, although the final result leaves me very satisfied. Moreover, the fact that I added all the nutrients to the substrate allowed me to make the watering task easier and avoid root washing. The plant that developed in a 20L pot produced 120g of dry, fluffy, elongated buds with a pretty good flower-to-leaf ratio. The plant I put in a 50L pot suffered from main stem rot, and I had to cut it down early, discarding a good part of the yield; still, I got 80g of rich old-school weed from it. The smell of the wet flowers was quite intense with citrus and spicy notes. Regarding pests and diseases, it has been very resistant; I haven't noticed signs of spider mites, aphids, or thrips thanks to the addition of Neem cake in the substrate. I also didn't suffer the dreaded and common attack of caterpillars (neither leaf nor bud worms) thanks to the sprays at key times with Bacillus Thuringiensis. It was also not affected by powdery mildew, which normally appears at the end of flowering in the area where I live, nor by botrytis, so the mycorrhizae and trichoderma tablet worked perfectly, not only reinforcing the root system but also against invasive fungi. The climate has also been favorable this year; I live in a warm area where the temperature is usually optimal for outdoor cannabis cultivation. In May, it rained pleasantly on some days, while June, July, and August were particularly dry, with only a couple of nights of rain at the end of August, and September has also been very respectful, raining only twice. Because of all this, being the first time I make a supersoil, I'm sure that for the 2022 season, I will repeat the system, making some adjustments to the mix to avoid the deficiencies I've mentioned.
