Lost another plant to something eating the base of the stem. It was so thin it barely supported its own weight. After a few days it was a goner

Half eaten plant. AM I DOOMED?
Just woken up to find a menace, a fiend, a downright rude creature has munched my 10 day old plant. I even had plastic domes over them but he must have slipped under. I also have copper tape around my pots. Am I doomed, will she recover? (Before and after pic)

Yes she will recover, some plants only get stronger if they get munched on a litte, although its rough on plants that young.

See if you can spot the culprit. It seems unlikely that the 'suspect' lifted the dome to sneek under and lifted it again to make its escape, that would be one Tom Cruise-like slug (roll MI type soundtrack - for copyright reasons not the original one, of course).

So based on the wounds o the victim, the nature of the crimescene and some basic criminal profiling if narrowed down your suspects to the usual ones:

- a younger specimen of Cornu aspersum a.k.a. the common garden snail, that never left the scene of the crime and is still hiding in the soil...

- a specimen of unknown age of Felis Catus, a.k.a. common house cat, that saw its moment when left alone for just a minute with the plants, this suspect is notorious for destroying any size plant.

- a smaller caterpillar or soilbased critter, still hiding somewhere.

Good luck!

So long as it doesn't attack it anymore you should be fine. Iv just checked my outdoors and slugs have ravished one of mine.
