Outta the fridge and into the pot. Had come off a failed attempt to grow because the tap root of a seed got stuck to paper towel. It caused problems to make a long story short. So I decided after watching a video by BeginnerBudz on YouTube that I would just plant right in the pot. Key, they said, was using a spritzer to water because pouring water could push the seed or move it. Just moisten the area around the seed. It only took 54 hours between planting the seed and me taking the picture you see here. Pretty fast. When the taproot comes out, it's already exactly where it needs to be and it just gets to work right away and independently of me. Direct planting is going to be my way for now. Makes sense to me. Feeding started on Day 2. Came out a bit hungry but well protected from CalMag issues prolly? I was following the cocoforcannabis feed schedule. We were at 5.7ph/0.92 EC by Day 7. She showed how tough she was early on. Check out my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtLdjlvS0mK9Pu3pkumUu-w

This week I learned about Vapor Pressure Deficit thanks to Everest Fernandez on YouTube. Useful knowledge. Helps you understand plant respiration and how to control it through the environment you setup. LST started Day 11. I knew I preferred not to top unless absolutely necessary and Cannabis Institute on YouTube recommended seedling stage LST as early as possible in order to help a SCROG. SCROG was my plan so that's why LST happened this soon. Maybe I could have waited a bit. I used an LST clip, which was the ONLY time they were used. Very useful for LSTing a seedling, it turned out. See the pic above. Thanks to RamblingManPrints on Etsy for providing the 3D printed LST clips and the tent pole wire clips that ended up being very useful for managing the trellis net in addition to holding wires. A fortunate accident (mistake) occurred on Day 14. When I tried to pull the head of the main stem towards the edge of the pot, I pulled a bit too hard or too sharply. Broke the main stem... but... only 50%, It was hanging on. So I relaxed the pull and let her heal. It took a long time, but it would eventually form a near 90 degree knuckle that made LSTing this whole upper plant possible, She was never topped. She was broken and bent. She was high stress trained, though that was never the plan.. At Day 82, that main cola is sitting chunky (and oddly purple) in the back corner waiting for harvest or something someday. First defoliation happens day 16. Was key move. Allowed lower branches to proliferate. The sooner the better. Had big impact on final training result. Cost = two big leaves. I love the Day 19 picture now, because I didn't realize at the time that the ENTIRE PLANT was gonna come from those little leaves in the center of the plant and the main stem. A 24 inch by 24 inch by 9 inch space would eventually be filled with leaves and colas from those few leaves in that picture. And the big leaves in the picture would all eventually be defoliated. LST would continue to spread out the stems and give light to the undergrowth. This latter part was the only "downside" of this strain. I was using a blue spectrum veg light, so I was getting like half-inch internodes which was AWESOME. Exactly what I needed so no complaints. However, you should simply be humble to the notion that there is a cost to this strategy. When you LST a plant onto its side, it's leaves will turn 90 degrees to face the lamp naturally. But since your plant is sideways, your internodes are now going sideways too! So you end up with a two-inch wide 2nd-node leaf being only a half-inch away from two-inch wide 3rd node leaf. This means leaf war. The serrated edges of one leaf will damage the other leaf and vice versa, etc. You end up with many damaged leaves. Sometimes, the plant even DEFOLIATES ITSELF at the stem. I kid you not, I thought I had a helpful ghost in my tent. Found a whole leaf on the floor one early morning. But there's a theme developing here. The strain is a beast. She takes any figurative punch in the face you give her and keeps coming. Fast Buds would eventually give me a LIKE on one post. I think it's because I called her a "honey badger." She really is. Short strain, but she's coming and she ain't backing down. Amazing strain. She requires a little work cuz she's leafy/bushy, but it's worth it cuz buds everywhere tightly together too. Do whatever you need to her. Whenever. Defoliate late in flower, if you want. She ain't backing down. I'm flushing her right now and I wouldn't be surprised if she was still bright green in 6 days, So those cut up leaves never mattered. Just made me worry. Scrog began on Day 24. In retrospect, I maybe should have set it an inch lower. At the time, I was worried about not having the ability to water the plant under the scrog. I oriented the plant so that the main stem would point to the rear corner. My LST/SCROG plan was to have the 4 main stems go N,S,E,W into each corner of the tent since they would be the longest stems with the biggest colas. This allowed me to stretch these stems to the max which then allowed all the other stems to get as much light as possible and also be stretched to the max, and so on. Also allowed me to make the SCROG into a perfect square, utilizing all of the tent's 2x2 area for this 2x2 rated veg lamp, the HLG 65 v2, and flowering lamp, the HLG 100 Rspec. The little green vertical velcro strip on the front of the pot was to help me orient the pot that way under the scrog. I would line it up with the North and South tent poles. I think I was running the lamp 24 hours at this point. I wanted her to know where the sun was at all times and get as much light as she could in order to help fil out the scrog, as quickly as possible. The way I looked at it, this was when she was strongest during the veg stage, so this was a good time to hit her with lots of light. You'll notice a growing salt patch on the side of the pot, I would ignore it until, like, week 4 of flower. Newb. 😒😆😁 Check out my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtLdjlvS0mK9Pu3pkumUu-w

At the time, I thought I was in the first week of flower. I now think this was the transition week out of veg, As a result, I prolly introduced my red spectrum flowering lamp too early - on Day 30. My next grow, I'll let the beginning of the stretch happen under the veg lamp for a few days before I install the flowering lamp. Keep the plant shorter under the scrog. I prolly wasted 1.5 to 2 inches to that miscalculation. Rookie mistake, no problem. But liking that there's room for improvement. Reducing light burn will be 1st priority next grow. I think I may have even thought of a way to rig the lamp to go even higher than I have it now, but there's time for all that. At this point I was most concerned with high humidity. I bought a small dehumidifier to put in the tent. But a few days later, I realized I needed to get serious and just buy a large dehumidifier for the room, not the tent. No regrets. It worked. Now I regret not having had a dehumidifier for my apartment sooner. Made things more comfortable and energy efficient. If I don't start doing this project, I never end up learning this. Unexpected dividends. Check out my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtLdjlvS0mK9Pu3pkumUu-w

Velcro is amazing. And thanks to someone on rollitup.com, whoever you were, who recommended using velcro garden ties for LST with a fabric pot. Cut them to whatever size you need. Only have small pieces and need a long piece? Link them like LEGO. Bend them into shapes like loops. Then, when you're done, remove all of it and put it in a little box for next time - totally reusable forever. My favorite strategy ended up being using them with a rubber wire garden tie shaped like a hook. Just wrap the velcro around the other end of the hook and attach the other end of the velcro strip to the pot... or even the trellis net! (The trellis net and the velcro ties will sometimes be inseparable or even seemingly magnetically attracted to each other when you move the pieces around - a little frustrating.) Then use some strips going horizontal for support. It won't move unless you do it accidentally. Velcro got some clutch hits in the training of this plant. No doubt. A scrog net is strong for the center four squares, but filling out the outer edges of the net is challenging - especially the corners. So I used the velcro ties/hooks to pull the larger main branches down, now that they were more stiff and woody, which had the effect of making a whole sector of the plant come down and out from the center (Day 45). In this position, tucking to the outer parts of the scrog became easier. So I used LST to bridge the continuation of the scrog to the edge. LST and filling out the SCROG was fun. Video game like. Like playing RISK. Your gains beget greater gains if you do it right. Something like that. I'm vaping Tahoe OG these days. Mind goes places. As flowering progressed, I became increasingly concerned with how bushy the plant was. Was concerned about powdery mildew and air circulation, so I believe at this point I started defoliating the plant as much I could. I would eventually learn that there are different defoliation strategies I like. Lollipopping is a great idea that should be started once the stretch stops, I think. And I also believe now in removing all leaves with stems as you approach harvest. Maybe the last three weeks? I noticed colas can grow unevenly in a setup like this - great top of cola, larfy bottom of cola. Stem leaf defoliations allow better light to lower buds. So the earlier this is completed, the better low bud development you should get, maybe? Check out my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtLdjlvS0mK9Pu3pkumUu-w

This is when the yellowing of the top leaves started. The grow is now complete and harvested, but I'm still not 100% sure what happened here. My first diagnosis was that it was caused by the fans I had around the tent. This may sound ridiculous, but the reason I thought this was that all the yellowing was happening on the side of the plant that was directly opposite from the fans I had at the top of the tent. So I thought wind burn was causing the problem somehow. Might it have, indirectly? My next diagnosis was light burn, a diagnosis that I would clutch to my breast until a few days before harvest... when I would be brought a video by the YouTube algo by Perfect Gardens. He was talking about how Calcium in flower kinda locks out Potassium, but you need the Mag in the CalMag in flower, so you were always stuck adding Cal in flower because of the way nutes are packaged. I thought that was interesting. Cuz yellowing into flower? That sure could be a potassium deficiency. It's not a nitrogen deficiency. the plant isn't looking for N in flower, is it? And remember that salt patch on the side of the pot? It's pretty white. Isn't Calcium white? Is that what happened here? Did that stupid salt patch on the pot and the overall saltiness of the pot hurt the delivery of potassium to these hungry buds? How the fans may have contributed to this problem is quite interesting. In such a small tent, lots of air circulation means not only that your fabric pot dries out faster, but also that your humidity levels are too high because water is being evaporated from the pot before it enters the plant. This leaves salt patches behind around the edges of the pot. When I checked the roots when harvested, the roots touching the sides of the pot were all brown. I don't know if this is normal, but it didn't look healthy. Weeks later the yellowing would be followed by leaf tip burn. So I would do the wisest thing I could think of (being a newb) and I reduce the amount of PK in my NER from what Coco4Cannabis was recommending, and I lowered my ECs. (Better to underfeed, right?) By the end of the grow, I was targeting runoff EC no higher than 1.7 because I was having a real hard time getting my runoff EC to not skyrocket. I was getting runoff ECs like 0.6 above input. There will be better medium management in my next grow, if there is one. What happened here needs to be tested. Check out my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtLdjlvS0mK9Pu3pkumUu-w

Day 75, I joined GrowDiaries. I was getting concerned about the yellowing and asked some questions. Got an OK from the team. 👍 Nothing else special happened. Was surprised how much water she needed. Was pouring upwards of 3 L per day at this point with significant runoff because saltiness was giving me anxiety. Check out my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtLdjlvS0mK9Pu3pkumUu-w

I thought she would need about 84 days to finish. So that would be in about a week and a half. But as compared to pictures I've seen around here, she looks like she may need more time? Right? I just don't want to start flush early. I'm growing in coco.

I’m not sure how many weeks she’s been flowering- but from the photos she has about 3 weeks left. She’s shooting a ton of white pistols straight out, she’ll definitely pack on some weigh in the coming weeks. When I grew this is took closer to 10 weeks in flower- buy boy was she worth it! I’m a soil grower, so not sure if growing in coco speeds things up. I’d wait 10-14 days and then think about flushing. 🌱

I'm not gonna summarize the last three weeks of the grow, like I've been doing for prior weeks to this one. I think it's fun and good for posterity to see what i was thinking as I was trying to land the plane. HAHA. Enjoy the play-by-play..... Day 78)Buds keep fattening up. Lots of red pistils (stigmas?) now. Checked trichs yesterday. (Using loupe and macro setting on phone) Saw some purple ones! But the ones that could be seen clearly were clear. I'm guessing we'll be done in 8 - 12 days. Runoff EC was 200 above input at 1350 with a ph of 5.9 this morning. I'd like to get the ph up a bit. Will be feeding 6.4s for a while. That low ph might be the reason for the salt buildup - inability to pick up the PK? I dunno I'm a rookie. Just trying stuff. She hasn't been fed under 6.0 in weeks, so I don't know how runoff PH gets lower than input. Something to study? Nebula Haze at GrowWeedEasy, Thank you for the inspiration! It's not every day you read a blog that positively changes your life, www.growweedeasy.com/growing-cannabis-in-a-mini-tent Day 80 ) Buds really seem to be fattening rapidly now. A website I read said this would happen within two weeks of harvest so I'm excited. It's also possible that raising the ph to 6.4 for a while was what she needed to be free to do her thing? Runoff ECs are now closely behind feed ECs, so if there was a salt buildup it seems to have cleared up, thankfully. Was it that I went from two feedings per day to three? Was it the raising of ph to 6.4 allowing the plant to take in more of something from the salt buildup? For now, ph is staying at 6.3 and above. Seems to be working. I'm going back to two feedings per day today (thankfully). If the salt buildup doesn't come back, we know what caused it - a relative lockout from low ph. Will definitely spend next few months looking into an automatic drip system. If I can knock out all the feedings in a day by filling a reservoir once a day, sounds like a win to me. Cuz if you have to feed three times a day sometimes, that's just too time consuming sometimes. Stigmas/pistils are all turning red, but the trichs are saying something else. Trichs on the buds are clear with a few cloudy as of yesterday. Saw one or two amber trichs but on (light-burned) sugar leaves. Just one or two after checking six or so buds along the front. In case you were wondering which one is the main cola, it's the one in the corner furthest from the entrance. I can't loupe that one because of where it is. So I'll use the macro lens on my phone to look around. Day 82). She's not Green Crack anymore. She's Purple Crack.I read somewhere strong LEDs could do this sort of thing, but 100W? Maybe it's the red spectrum. I don't mind purple as long as she's still relatively healthy. Checked trichs yesterday. No amber anywhere. Still lots of clear. So we still got time. She's starting to get chunky. Some long colas too. Exciting. I hope she makes it. Day 83) Buds are fattening but they look weird to me. It's prolly the light burn, but I'll ask the Question forum eventually. What's happening to her buds isn't that important right now cuz they seem to be fattening anyway and bud rot doesn't seem to be the problem. (in the loupe the buds are beautiful and purple.) Right now I'm trying to time harvest. Her trichs are mostly cloudy now. No amber. Few/some clear. Less than 14 days to harvest, prolly. 8 to 14 days. Day 84) I thought this grow would be over on Day 84. She seems to need more time. That's more than OK. I think it could be a sign of something great. (Higher yields per square foot of plant requires extra work from the plant. So it needs more time, maybe? Take your time, dear.) I've been challenged to put up pictures of the trichomes. Working on it. 😊. New week tomorrow. Have a great grow! Check out my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtLdjlvS0mK9Pu3pkumUu-w

Day 85). You can actually see the buds now, especially on top. Taking pictures with the lights out and flash on really let's you see what you got. Will do that more often. Thanks! @Richa1212! Yesterday's trichomes check much the same. No amber, just clear and cloudy mix. This week's feed ups the PK. Might be final week of feeding. Day 86). Harvest and Drying Strategy: Decided yesterday I will do whole plant drying. Because the scrog net can't be removed without cutting and ends up being a great tool for hanging the whole plant in the dry tent. Just cut the whole thing down at the very base, grab the trunk, turn the plant upside down and clip the net to the poles. I'll use a hook from the crossbar to the trunk of the plant for more weight support as to not stretch the net too much or have it pulled down by the weight. Leaning towards doing a small amount of pre-harvest wet trimming of the larger leaves, in order to assist air circulation in the tent to prevent mold and rot. Though I'm also concerned with destroying trichomes by handling the plant too much. So I think any pre-harvest defoliation should be limited and very carefully done. I'm thinking just cut the large leaves in half but leave the stems. Basically, just make any large leaves smaller. It doesn't matter where you cut a leaf at harvest like when you are growing, right? Will start setting up dry tent today, because I want to start doing temperature tests. Can't do humidity tests because my apartment is assisting a flowering process at a set (too low) humidity. Need to do light tests as well. And ultimately, it needs to be cat-proofed - this is what concerns me the most. lol 😺. Bought a 24 inch square pillow to put on top. Compromise. I flipped the plant around 180 in the tent. Good thing I did. More tomorrow. Day 87) I had married my mind to the idea that a scrogged plant couldn't ever be moved. I hope I didn't pay a price for that. So now the main momma cola is on the opposite side - near the tent pole that is closest to the tent opening (the one closest to you to the left in most of the pics). Hadn't seen that half of the plant in, like, 8 weeks? Wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. To shorten the story, had a relaxing time - listening to indie tracks while up on Wedding Cake - while defoliating that side of the plant. Lots of work needed to be done, but now she looks great with lots of air between the buds and some more light penetration to the buds I'm trying to fatten now. I did discover, however, that certain buds had been pushed up against the mylar the whole time - not getting enough light and getting humid together. Looked around for mold and rot - I don't think I found any but I will post a pic to the Question forum later. But I did find PINK buds? Huh? If those aren't sick buds, this plant/strain is truly amazing. I like that I need to water from the exact opposite angle now. I can already see the topsoil (topcoco? lol) rearranging itself to the new attack angle. I wonder if that's happening underneath as well - unlocking new channels and salt accumulations? From now on it will be my practice to spin around the scrog on a weekly or so basis if LST doesn't encumber the move. She's a small enough scrog that you can easily do that - one advantage of doing a mini-scrog. (The only one?) So I did trich check on the main cola and .... more cloudy than the buds I've been checking up to now, but no amber anywhere and it still looks pretty glassy. But look at her... How much more time can she need? She's looking a bit chunky now. Will check trichs again later. Day 88) Looks like all defoliating and training of this plant is over. Nothing else to do. Started LST as a seedling, ended defoliation in flower, and this honeybadger of a strain handled all of it well. But maybe all the stress is why this is taking so long? No choice. I was threading a needle. Tough action had to be taken. Cloudy trich heads are visible around, but she's still looking pretty glassy. I can't believe she still needs time. Her pistils are pretty orange now and starting to curl. Will look into whether trichome development can have issues sometimes. Happy Growing! Day 90) Good news. I've started figuring out how to use the 60x magnification lens on my loupe. And in so doing, I've discovered that about 80 or maybe even as high as 90% of the trichs are in cloudy mode. Few milky (more are clear than there are milky though). And I saw one amber trich on a bud. And that's a personal milestone. That's my first amber trich on a bud. So.... Now we have a rough schedule. I read that when you get to strongly cloudy, you are within two weeks away from ambering. So my rough schedule now is to keep feeding for another week or so - aiming to leave about 5 or 6 days of flushing (this is coco, not soil). Not sure if I will start tapering ECs (why is that necessary if you're gonna starve her eventually?) The defoliations I recently did should allow lots of light and air to get to the lower buds of the plant, cuz honestly I think she's more pistils than bud atm, we need a little more. Day 96 to begin flush. Around Day 102 harvest I'm guessing. Let's see how this goes. Happy Growing and Harvesting and Drying and Curing! 😁👍 Day 91: Just wanted to say that although I got a big bag of burned and ugly buds at the moment, I still think she's beautiful. When you get up close and look at the buds (past all the burnt and dried stuff), she's really beautiful. My goal was just to have something to harvest so that I could learn as much as I could. It's looking possible. It's taking much longer than I expected (twice as long almost). But ok. The lessons were the point. Someday I'll have a huge tent with huge plants with huge buds. Right now, it all starts with a 2x2x3 little tent. Not trying to win beauty pageants right now. That's why I take so many pictures from far away. Up close - not so pretty. She seems to be foxtailing a bit. I'm not very concerned. More bud is more bud. 😎 LOL. Checked trichs again this morning. The light or potassium burned sugar leaves are showing about 10% amber, but the buds look almost 100% cloudy (maybe 90%). I've learned I need 60x mag or I can't really see them. Since I only really learned how to do this two days ago, I'm not sure if the plant needs two weeks or two days. Will use the data the sugar leaves are giving me to get an idea. The buds are frosty. You can almost see that the trichs are cloudy with the naked eye. Posted a macro picture yesterday that I think shows that. Sucks not being sure how much time you got left, but this is how you learn, right? With my 2nd grow, I'll be good/decent at this from the get-go. I probably have two days of feed left before I have to make more. I should prolly split the difference and just start flush in 2-3 days when this feed finishes, and then harvest in 8-9 days. That way I'm either only a few days too late or too early, I reckon, if I get it wrong. If I plan for two weeks to harvest, I could seriously over shoot this or leave her unflushed. And I do believe in flushing, cuz to me, she smells like nutes. I want that out of there. And this is supposed to be a racier strain, though I'm not crazy about too racy. Like I know that I don't want to harvest her today. She's prolly near the peak on either side, and no.. I want to chill her out a bit. So maybe flush day 93, harvest day 99? Stay tuned... New week tomorrow.. Happy Growing! (Check out my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtLdjlvS0mK9Pu3pkumUu-w)

WEEK 14: THE FINAL WEEK (prolly) Day 92: She looks ready to me this morning. She's standing there pretty with her colas (fat) and colettes (skinny). I'm pretty sure it's time. Except for the new pistils coming out of few foxtails appearing, almost all her pistils are orange and curled back a good bit now, I'm ignoring the foxtails like they aren't there. They won't factor into any decisions except making me shorten the day cycle (read below) to try to prevent re-vegging. So she's getting 0.7 EC feed at 6.1+ until I run out which will be either tonight or first feed tomorrow. I'm also turning her 90 degrees every day, so that when I water it averages out evenly around the pot for these flushes. (I think I might try to do this for all feedings from now. It's just good pot/salt buildup management.) I will check trichs again tonight to see where I am, and unless I see lots of clear trichs and that makes me think there's another week of feed here necessary, which I doubt will happen, tomorrow will begin the flush period, (Check out my YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtLdjlvS0mK9Pu3pkumUu-w.) Nothing but FloraKleen at 7.0 ph till she's done in about 6 days or less, depending on trichs. Will also be shortening her day time by an hour every day, She's should be at 12 hours sun by harvest, (I can finally wake up when I want to! Hooray!) And finally... ice cubes. Yeah. Might try it. Why not? Have a great grow day! Day 92 Later:) Just checked trichs and saw they were all cloudy now, some quite cloudy, and a tiny handful that were about to turn amber. So the flush began immediately. Fed her a half-gallon of FloraKleen water. Will do so three times a day until her runoff EC is 200 or under for two or three days as prescribed by MJ Coco of CocoforCannabis. No more feedings. Bring in the closer to pitch the ninth... FloraKleen. LOL This is fun. 😂 Day 93) Flush runoff EC this morning was down to 0.7. Hopefully we'll be closer to 0.3 by tonight. Dry tent was put in place last night - to give my cat a few days to get used to it. He's a good smart little cat, so I don't really expect many problems. I'm using the iPower 2x2x3 tent to dry. I didn't think it was a better candidate as a grow tent than the CoolGrows, but it should be a very good dry tent. It's quite light restrictive. It doesn't even have a viewing window. And most importantly, the side closest to the window (sunlight) has no ports/openings. Very easy to assemble and disassemble as well. Airflow should be good, exhausting air from the port at the top, intake of air through the flaps at the bottom - nice upward liminal air movement. I've learned that if you add fans to a tent this small, you can easily run into problems - it's only 12 cubic feet so you can easily have too much air movement. So that's prolly gonna be it for air circulation. Happy Growing, Drying and Curing!!! Have a great one! Day 94) Runoff EC came in at 0.35 this morning so moving well on the right track. Hopefully we'll hit 0.2 soon and be on track for harvest late on Day 96. Just bought a big boy humidifier for my apartment. Just like my purchase of a large dehumidifier a couple months back, I expect this machine will provide benefits beyond the scope of growing, because I frequently need to use expensive electric heaters in the winter. Raising humidity should ameliorate this need at a lower energy cost. Should help me have greater control over my grows as well. Checked trichs on a different side of the plant this morning. Same result as last time. All cloudy with few yellowed on the way to amber. Even the lower buds out of direct light are mostly cloudy. We can't be terribly off pace. Right? And btw, the buds are still growing. Beginning to see a very small amount of yellowing in the lower parts under the canopy. Really looking like Day 96-98 will be harvest time. Have a great day! Day 95) We're at 0.2 EC. She's just getting plain water now. I spritz the outside of the pot with FloraKleen water to soften the deposits there. But that's it. OK... So let's sum up what I want to differently with my next grow(s). 1) There won't be a diary of my next grow for a while, if at all: Many changes coming to my life soon. I want to include this hobby badly in it. But I need to assess where I can fit it in the chaos, Will definitely try, But 3 months is a long time, and I can't promise I won't abort the next grow in the middle of it, and I don't want to start a diary I can't guarantee will be finished. Just being honest and fair. Believe me. I want to do this. I'll try to be back as soon as possible. My next attempt at a grow will be Barney's Farms Wedding Cake. I just had some here and I really like that strain. I'd really like to have some more, so.. 2) Feeding: My feed strategy that I got from GWE and CC4C worked very well during seedling and veg. No calmag/burn issues. But my flower strategy (I deviated from GWE and CC4C) might need work. What if it WAS a potassium deficiency and not light burn? Been watching Perfect Gardens on YouTube, He explains how Calcium during flower might be a bit of a problem, but unfortunately it comes married with Magnesium, which you need. But you can watch the video. 3) Lighting: I miscalculated where I was in the veg/flower transition so I think I brought out the flowering lamp too early. Will wait till I'm certain the stretch has been happening for a few days before I bring out the red spectrum next time. No point growing stems instead of buds and giving your plant light burn. I'm excited about an idea I have for getting the lamp to go an inch or two higher. But I'm also thinking about ways to make the plant go lower, which leads me to... 4) Topping: I'm real proud that I never topped this girl. I abused that main stem in every way possible, but I never chopped her head off. I'd rather be abused than decapitated. Right? But my next grow I WILL do some topping because it's something I need to experience, and because it may help me grow slightly larger strains in this tent, or at least have an easier time with the training and scrogging of plants (read above about chaos). 5) Minor things: Find a shorter 2 gallon pot. Think about automatic watering/feeding. Other than that, I love that I decided to do this crazy thing. Oh I forgot about one guy to thank,, CannaMink on YouTube, If I don't see his video about trying to grow weed in an AeroGarden, I never go looking for Nebula Haze's blog, cuz my first idea was to do that.. In an AeroGarden. Thank you, Nebula Haze!! 😬😁😜😝👍👊 Day 96). Been running the dry tent to learn how to drive it. Right now she's running both too hot and too dry. If I try to reduce temp with the AC, she gets drier. If I put a humidifier in the tent she'll be too wet unless I run the exhaust at high level - now negative pressure might be too high. Unfortunately, the beginning of this dry will be spent experimenting and adjusting , so I'm not expecting great results. But I'm a rook, so why would I expect great results. Better to expect mistakes and having something to learn from them. The lesson may simply end up being, don't be trying to dry weed when the AC is necessary to reduce temperature. Easier to raise humidity when it's cold and dry? Skip summer grows? We'll see how it goes. She's prolly going down tomorrow night. Day 97. Morning of Day 98 the latest.Yellowing is progressing around the plant.Makes me little bit sad to see her like that. But I still can't wait to vape her. LOL. Have a great grow day! Day 97). Mint Chocolate Chip is great. Too bad is doesn't come in a short auto. She's not that yellow and those buds keep getting scrumptiously thick on top. Was thinking I'd chop her tonight, but kinda wavering on that now. I'll check her trichs later and make a decision. Maybe it's worth waiting a day or two more? Waiting for the humidifier to arrive before I chop her. Should be here later today. So nothing happens til then. I won't chop until I am sure the environment is right for drying. Have a great grow day! Day 97 Later:) I checked the trichs and they were all juicy everywhere up and down. About 5% were turning amber. Leaves were yellowing. She's recommended to be harvested at most frosty, so I thought it was time. I brought out the saw. And no scissors would have cut it, btw. Glad I bought that saw. She would have been highly insulted if I walked up to her with scissors - after all we've been through? It took a few violent minutes, but it was done. In a twist of events, I decided to just hang her in the tent she grew up in. It's just that I already know how to drive that tent in terms of environment. I know what influences it. I can control it. So I also decided to turn the iPower into a seedling tent for now, while I get to know the dynamics of that tent in that location. Why risk the grow to a new location? Risk the seedling instead. I have more than one of that seed anyway. Never mind that I won't have to move the carbon filter anywhere. Then, when the drying is over, I'll move that pot and plant into the grow tent that is currently a dry tent. So that's all she wrote... Tomorrow a new week! I think. How does this all work now? I'm not wet weighing.. Just sayin. The whole plant is in the tent upside down. How would I even do that? 😄 Post Notes: When she was yellowing during the flush, many of the "light burn" symptoms got worse quickly. Leads me to think that it wasn't light burn maybe? More later. Drying Period: Day 0) I'll have more to say in a couple of weeks about the harvest once I weigh, I guess? But for now, I don't see why i shouldn't diary the dry and cure too. Why not? So... I set the temp/humidity sensor cord for the AC Infinity T4 inline fan through the middle of the plant and out through the bottom so that the sensor is one inch below the canopy of (upside down) buds. I figure you should measure the air going in through the bottom, not in the middle (too humid) or above (also too humid) where the air goes out. I could be wrong tho. Now it's just a game of figuring out what numbers work on my AC and/or dehumidifier and/or humidifier(s) in order to create a good and stable environment in there. I got room to play, but I'm gonna let her be a little humid today, I think, then try to stabilize her around 50-60% because the tent will likely run around 70-75, so a higher humidity is better for VPD. Right? I dunno. Just don't want rot. Day 2) She's been staying mostly at 75 degrees in there, til my bed time, when it gets down to 71-73. So she's on the hot side of acceptable. To counterbalance I'm keeping humidity high at 55-60%. The source of humidity inside the tent is mostly the plant, so the rh readings will give indication how wet the plant still is. I suppose once she gets to the point that I feel I need to SUPPLY humidity to the tent, we are prolly getting close to jarring this girl. My fan is set to 20% of maximum. which for a 200 CFM setup in a 12 cf tent, means she's getting a little more than 3x air replacement per minute - should be good enough. I put foil tape over the zippers in order to block light and have control over the stream of air inside the tent. I want air 95% coming from the flaps at the bottom so that the air flows up through the plant and out. I'm concerned about mold pockets developing in the corners of the tent cuz there are no other fans in there. I hope 3x air replacement is enough. We'll find out. (A 1st grow should be part lab experiment, right?) I'm gonna get in there later at the 48 hour mark to flip the plant around 180 degrees. I hope I don't see a weird nightmare in there. I haven't set eyes on her in two days. Wow. After being obsessed with her for 99 days. Feeling a little parental. Need to stop that. The cat is starting to really get jealous. 😹 LOL Have a great grow day! Day 2 Later:) Been watching drying, trimming and curing videos on YouTube. I'm leaning towards a drier trim obviously. But I don't know if I should interrupt the dry to trim a bit. Or if I should cut her up in branches and rehang. You see all kinds of recommendations. I'm leaning towards just letting her dry whole plant and then trim and then jar. It's a little hot in there. Air is getting drier and more fall-like round here every day. If the goal is letting her dry longer, and my temps/RH are OK, then let her keep going that way. I've come to understand that leaves fall off in a dry trim if they truly are dry, so... I'm just spinning her 180 degrees every two days because the exhaust port of the tent and the inlets at the bottom aren't symmetrical. So I don't want certain air patterns burning one side of the plant or freezing the other. So give her a whirl. My T4's sensor is near the center of the tent under the plant, so it should be a good average read of the environment. Yes. I'm stressing. So close to the end. And this is when you have to be most patient. Just leave her in the dark and wait. A really long-baking cake with MUCH sweeter frosting. LOL. Day 2 Later Later:) So I did the 180 flippy thing. She smelled like weed but grassy still. Like a skunk died in the middle of a fresh cut soccer field. Just trying to describe it. LOL. This will get tougher in two days when I have to start knowing what I'm doing. I need to learn how to test for dryness. But this strain has pretty woody stems. I'm not sure a branch break means anything. I'll start playing with her about that in 48 hours. At that point, she's been drying for 4 days, and decisions might need to be made. Will read GWE's blog on the subject. Day 2 Later Later) I can always thank Nebula Haze for curing my anxiety. She says a good way to test for dryness is to take a small bud in your hand and bend its stem. If it breaks off with no stringy attached, you should consider trimming and jarring soon. Cool. So I have something to follow now. Very relieved. Day 3) I should be far less loquacious today. All that happened today was realizing the girl was too high in the tent, so I used extra S hooks to lower her to a slightly cooler position closer to the bottom of the tent. Now just waiting to spin and inspect the plant on Day 4 of drying. Have a great day! Day 4) Checked her this morning. Buds were moving easily on their branches - no snap at all. Leaves don't look dry at all. Just wilted. Humidity levels are gradually dropping in the tent, all things being equal. So she seems to be in a 2nd level of dry now - good timing for Day 4 if you are trying to achieve a minimum 7 day dry. She's not sticky to the touch. She never was tho. When you touch her you get lots of pistils but there's a dense thickness underneath. I dare not squeeze. Will be interested to see if these buds are a bit thin tho. I won't be disappointed if they are. I'm ecstatic just about finishing the marathon. Never dreamt of winning it. The next one? We'll see.... And on that note, she sprouted this morning. A small battle. But if I ever write a diary for it, I'll tell you the story. And that's the last I'll talk about that grow in this diary too. Have a great grow day. Day 5) She certainly looks and feels drier now. I got a kind of psychic vibe that the plant would be ready for trimming in less than four days. Prolly only 2. The smell is definitely more dead skunk than soccer field now. Leaves look drier. Stems stiffer. Pulled on a few leaves, though, and they stayed rooted to the plant and the stems were still flexible on those leaves and small buds. So I think she's not quite ready yet. I'm going to stop doing the 180 flip thing now. It's a little rough on the plant if I also want to clip the corners of the plant to the tent poles with the trellis net. The connecting and disconnecting of the net is a big violent shake on the plant. I could disconnect the net, but then the buds would be "sticking" together. (She isn't sticky. She's hairy. Does that mean I messed this up somehow. Prolly. LOL.) Can't believe this will all be over in just a few days. What a long, fun, educational and confidence-building journey😁: 1:! Have a great grow day. Day 6: Gotta keep this short. Very busy. There's this plant that needs to be trimmed and jarred and weighed. Talk to ya later. Have a great day! 😘
