I started them in a paper towel and put the sprouts in my garden. It's good tilled soil, plus compost mixed throughout.

Still out there training them everyday. I went on vacation and my step dad bent the crescendo plant a bit hard. It snapped partially but it ended up being perfect. The plant grows parallel to the ground about 8" up.

Crescendo has grown well from the start. You can see the side shoots are forming what will basically be top colts. End game is doing awesome at this point but still half the size. Both plants are starting to smell if your within 2 ft. Cr-3 ft Eg-1.5 ft

I've been trying the plant sideways to bamboo stakes with plant ties. You have to loosen them and let the nodes pass the stakes. Just pay attention to not let thevtues dig in. I'm using chemical nutrients which the plant is eating up right now. Not a problem at this point in the grow. It's been raining non stop so no ph issues yet.... Cr 3.5 ft Eg 2.5 ft

Now the last 4 weeks I've been training the "tops" to grow up and out. Allowing the max sunlight into the middle of the plant. Everyday I bend the leading part of the plants parallel to the ground. You can see in this picture the concept. Still the same dose of 18/18/21. Cr 3.5 ft Eg 3 ft

The rain has stopped. I'm using tap water and not testing ph. This combined with the nutrient regimen will come back to bite me in about 4 weeks. But the plants are vegging out. End game has now passed the crescendo plant. Cr 3.5 ft Eg 3.7 ft

They grew another 6-10" and starting to lighten up the tips. The stretch is on for sure. I wasn't ready for just how much tho lol. No sign of any nutr burn, lockout,or deficiency at this point. Both 5 ft tall. End game would pop first pistils 3 days after the weekly pic.

They're stretching, crescendo popped its first pistils. This is where I noticed what I thought was leaf miner damage, but soon figured out it was high ph, too much nitrogen causing lockout. I should have switched nutrient sooner. And ph'd my water. Cr 6ft Eg 6 ft

No more training, stems are too woody. I've been tying the the "tops to bamboo stakes the last 3 weeks or so so they'll have support for buds. I noticed the browning tips and clawing getting worse so I didn't use nutrient this week except cal mag. Flushed with 6.5 ph water.

Some leaves are burnt but I think I caught it soon enough.. it could've been prevented but you don't know what you don't know. The lateral branching of both strains are excellent. I'm counting 8-10 "tops on each plant.

Another week of upper 90s and humid. Since I started checking my waters ph,decreasing nitrogen and adding cal-mag the plant leaves haven't gotten any worse. It's still growing and I'm not noticing any more "claws" either. The end game plant took the ph/nutrient problem alot worse then the crescendo. I'm hoping I only lost a week of growing to it. I've also been checking for nanners, I haven't seen any, but I've had problems in the past(using unknown bag seed). Hopefully these strains are a little more tolerant of the moon and artificial lights.

Grow Questions

BackyardGardnerstarted grow question 3 years ago
Should I remove all the burnt leaves? Worst ones are 25% burnt. Some just speckled throughout. Do the flowers still need exposure to the sun? Or will the leaves exposed to sunlight keep the buds growing? Can cutting the burnt leaves cause enough stress to hermie or stunt growth?

I took the advice offered and cut the burnt leaves off of both plants. I also defoliated 2 of the main colas as an experiment, to see if it really does force the plant to grow bigger buds. I also flattened out and retied my limbs to the bamboo stakes. This opened the middle of the plant quite a bit. I can see thru crescendo now. It's been quite wet and humid so I've been drying the flowers everyday with compressed air. About 15lb pressure is more then enough. The plants didn't seem phased by the trimming, it doubled bud size this week and shot off a ton more pistils. The east side of the end game plant has alot of purple in the buds.

The buds just about doubled in size. They both grew another set of pistils this week. The crescendo threw 2 seeds. Allegedly common because of its chemdawg and sour diesel heritage. Probably the stress I put it thru early in flower. I'm still drying the buds out after rain or heavy dew. I can smell the crescendo from 10 foot out. It's a dank, pungent odor. The end game has a sweet smell to it. You can't really smell it unless your next to it. All u smell is the other plant.

I found my plants had a few whiteflies on it yesterday. I got some yellow sticky traps but I'm looking for advice on whether to spray the plants and what to spray with. I'm guessing the end of next week is the very early harvest window for end game, crescendo is about 5 days behi

We got hammered by a thunderstorm Tuesday night. I could barely sleep. I woke up to my tops all laying side ways, not broke but full of water. I spent 4 hrs blowing the water out if the buds, and pulling the buds out from the stems. I'm trying my best to prevent bud rot. I have a whitefly problem on the end game plant also. I bought some yellow sticky pads to by some time. I mixed up neem oil and sprayed every other "non bud" plant infected. I used a paper towel and wiped the underside of the fan leaves that were infested. Oct 1st is day 60 of flower for end game, crescendo is Oct 6th. Both strains are 60-70 days in flower according to ethos website. The buds atleast doubled in size. About 30% pistils have darkened, only about 30% are white and straight. But they're still popping new hairs where the calyx are swelling. I can smell the crescendo from 30 ft. It's starting to get sweeter and skunkier. End game still smells like cherries to me. Trichomes are about 20%cloudy, 50% have flattish heads still. I'm hoping I can see this all the way thru... as long as mother nature cooperates

This week was brutal. 60 degree rain for 4 days straight. 15 mph wind(which I think saved my plants). I built a makeshift shelter out of plastic and 10 ft homemade stakes. It worked for the first 2 days but then I woke up to multiple snapped stakes and the plastic no longer above the plants. All the tops were bent down. 1 was bent so bad it almost snapped. I put the shelter back together in the rain, so they were only exposed for a few hrs. The wind was able to blow under the plastic and dry the buds pretty well after I shook them off. Highly stressful week for the plants, but they seem to get shinier every day. I lost 1 branch with a little bud rot on it. I think spider mites caused it as I found a few inside. The end game is the only plant infected. I'm probably gonna harvest end game next sunday. It'll be day 63 since 1st pistol and it's having problems fighting the whiteflies, weather, and now mites. Although I haven't really seen many webs. The crescendo is growing like a dream. No significant problems at all except when the tarp blew off it made biggest top cola bend over. I stuck a kabob stick in it to hold it up.I hope to give it 2 weeks to harvest. I didn't feed the end game plant this week only crescendo. I will say end games buds are thick and Rock hard. Smells like cherry incense.

Scattered downpours forecast all week, but it's not ready to harvest. So I built a shelter, it let's in a good amount of light. So hopefully they'll keep swelling under it. The plant shows no signs of PM, bud rot, or bugs. It's buds are weighing down the lateral branches significantly. So I tied them together and then tied that to the main stem. It seems to work. I hope it's ready to harvest next sunday. I'm ready for this grow to be over.

It took me about 10 hrs to cut, trim, wash and hang the buds. I finished around 11pm. Whole house smells like sweet, fresh cut grass. I'll update on the smoke in a month or so. I expect it'll be pretty good. I had some buds I removed last week. They were harsh and tasteless, but had a good head buzz, made me wanna do something. Hopefully it's working mans weed. It induced horrible cottonmouth, I suspect it's because it was early and only dried not cured.

This plant was a grower from start to finish. Responds well to LST. The secondary branches are very strong and good producers. It started stinking pretty early on and continued throughout, getting stinkier by the week. It smells thru the front door now,, and the whole house smells like pungent fuel. The Flowers stack nicely into dense round buds. I ran it 72 days but it needed another week. It popped another set of white hairs 3 days before I was forced to chop. Trichomes are about 90% plastic. Outdoor grow life is a bitch in humid climates. I'm looking into a tent for these dense strains. I won't grow this outdoor again( too humid/wet in October)but it'll be an indoor candidate for sure.Much research is needed for my outdoor strains next yr.
