Growing local once again with another offering from the Niagara Seed Bank. This time around I'm excited to be running Fire OG.
I first encountered this strain while on vacation in Nova Scotia a few years ago. My wife was attending a conference and I was left to my own devices so I picked some of this up from a local dispensary and was blown away. It had a super pungent, lemon pledge fragrance and was just an awesome smoke. Spent the afternoon exploring the Halifax waterfront and taking pictures. I haven't encountered this strain since so I was thrilled to see the Niagara Seed Bank had added it to their lineup.
Fire OG is a tasty, pungent indica-dominant cannabis. With 70% indica genetic composition, be sure you’re ready for her amazing psychoactive buzz. That means she is so potent, considering that she contains 16-21% THC. It’s all because she is the offspring of San Fernando Valley OG Kush and OG Kush. Her parents are legendary smokes, so you can expect Fire OG to be like them.
Standard germination stuff. Soaked seed in water overnight. Moved seed to wet paper towel and placed inside plastic baggie. Baggie was placed in shoebox that was sitting on a heat mat. After 48 hours I transferred sprouted seed into a pete plug. Seedling moved into net pot and 5 gallon DWC bucket today, 8 days after dropping the seed.
Off we grow again 🌱
No issues to report with the FIre OG. This little seedling is doing fine.
I've been top-feeding her every other day over the past week. I'm going easier on the nutes this time around - EC running at about .3 currently.
Roots haven't broken through the net pot yet, but should be any day now.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG is lit. She was the last of the four plants in the current run who's roots broke through the bottom of the net pot and her growth has really picked up since. She's looking strong and healthy and getting bigger every day.
Rez change today with a slight increase in nutes; still treading on the light side with EC running .4 - .5.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG is growing fine. Looking strong and healthy.
Slight bump in nutes with today's rez change - EC .5 (290 PPM).
FIMed her two days ago. We'll flip the lights next week, after 4 weeks of veg.
Thanks for checking in ✌️
The Fire OG is doing fine. No issues to report.
Did a bit of defoliation and removed some lower branches to get things ready for the ScrOG and the flipping of the lights to flower; likely by the end of the week.
Increased nutes slightly again this week - EC is running around .6 (310 PPM). PH has been stable, running between 6 - 6.4 through the week.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG is doing very well. Looking strong and healthy with no issues to report.
I flipped the light to 12/12 three days ago so she's just begun her stretch. She's put on another 5" since last week; I expect more vigorous growth over the next week. The ScrOG is now in place and I'll be folding and tucking as she grows. Did a little more defoliation, removing some of the larger fan leaves that were eclipsing the bud sites beneath.
Added flowering nutes with the rez change today. Bumped things up a bit, her EC is reading about .9 (460 PPM). PH has been pretty stable most of the week, hovering between 6.1 & 6.2 with a high of 6.4.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG is cooking 🔥 She's grown about 6" since last week. Stretching modestly I'd say.
EC has been running between .9 and 1.0 throughout the week with PH running between 6 - 6.4.
Still several weeks to go. Looking forward to watching her develop through flower.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG is lit 🔥
She's grown another 10" since last week and she's really spread out nicely in the ScrOG. Flowers are popping and she's looking really strong and healthy.
EC has been running between 1 - 1.1 (500-550 PPM) through the week and PH 6 - 6.3. Rez change today. No big changes.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
All is good in the Fire OG hood. Hopefully things stay that way...
She had a pretty significant stretch compared to her tent mate so I decided to super crop 4 of the tallest stems to even out the canopy. I haven't super cropped this late before and I hope I don't end up regretting the decision 🤞In any case, the canopy is pretty even now.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Suspiciously smooth sailing for the Fire OG. She's progressing very nicely without issues.
No complications at all from last week's super cropping. All branches have knuckled up and settled in 👍
Her EC has been ranging from 1.1 - 1.3 through the week and her PH has been between 5.9 - 6.2.
Very happy with this girl (and her tent mate).
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG is doing fantastic.
Buds are forming nicely and even starting to get a hint of that Lemon Pledge scent when I brush against her. 😍🍋
EC has been running right around 1.1 most of the week and PH between 5.9-6.1 👍 Gave her a rez change a couple of days ago.
Can't wait to burn this Fire 🔥
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG is crackling along.
EC has been running steady, 1.1 -1.2 and PH has been between 5.8 - 6.1.
Buds are getting tight and frosty. Smell is more sweet than lemony at this point - I'm really hoping for this strain's trademark lemon pledge scent when she finishes 🤞
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG is continuing to do very well other than perhaps suffering a bit of heat stress. I noticed some of the upper leaves canoeing and getting a little crispy. I've raised the light up a bit and turned it down to about 80-85% intensity.
Buds are continuing to frost and ripen with more and more red hairs appearing.
Rinse, lather, repeat with her feeding regime. Keeping her PH between 5.8 and 6.1 and EC is running 1 - 1.1.
3 more weeks to go me thinks. Get super excited for the finish.
Seasons greetings to all my GD pals! 🎄💨
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG continues to do very well. Just a waiting game now.
Did some light defoliation to allow light to penetrate to some of the lower bud sites.
Feeding regime remains the same. No big fluctuations or issues to report.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
Getting close to the finish now. Just waiting on some of the lower bud sites to finish ripening up. Harvest in the next 7-10 days I'd guess.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG is lit and pretty much ready to be chopped, but her tent mate (Candyland Peyote) is not quite ready for harvest. I'll wait no longer than the end of the week before harvesting both plants.
I did a last round of defoliation to open up the lower bud sites to the light in an attempt to squeeze out some further ripening from both plants.
Trichomes are mostly cloudy throughout the plant with amber appearing on the top buds.
Harvest report in the next update.
Thanks for tuning in ✌️
The Fire OG was pretty easy to grow and I had no issues at all with her. Unfortunately, just like the Candyland Peyote that was growing in the tent with her, only the top layer of buds formed nicely, with much of the bud beneath being pretty larfy. Consequently, the net yield wasn't what I hoped for. In hindsight, I should have probably reduced the number of bud sites to keep her structure more open. Ultimately, I think the time has come for me to up my lighting game and invest in something that has better penetration/coverage throughout the canopy.
The smoke is delicious and potent, so I can't complain about that. I'll definitely give her a grow again 👍
That's a wrap on this one. Thanks for tuning in ✌️
SFV OG cross 😍. I really hope you get that lemon pledge spicy smell. My opinion is the SFV OGs are the best OGs out there. Smell, effects.. man you 're in for a good 1.
Super colorful looking buds. Keep up the amazing progress. Good luck stay safe happy growing cheers!!!!! If you have a moment please stop by my YOU DECIDE diary and place a vote
