It has been 14 days from popping from seed now. They all popped up within 24 hours of each other.
Closet that they will be growing in is approximately 2'x6'. 4 Garden of Green Kosher kush in Happy frog soil. Thinking of adding extra worm castings and possibly a little 4-4-4 gai green all purpose when I up pot them to 2ga pots within the next week. Any thoughts? They seem really healthy right now so I am hesitant about adding anything extra. It is my first time growing in 4 years and my first time using soil.
I intend to top twice, use some LST and start spreading them out when they get a few more nodes.
Lighting is marshydro tsl2000 and it is set at 300W right now.
I let water sit uncovered for a couple days to get rid of the chlorine. Add a few mL of vinegar to water to reduce ph below 7.
Moved them up to 1ga pots. They seem to be liking the switch. Added some 4-4-4 gaia green + 1.5 cups of worm castings.
The one is a node behind the rest. The rest are 4 nodes now and I'll be topping next week I think.
Topped them on Tuesday. They have recovered and are growing fast again. I will top them again this week. Watered twice this week with water at 6 - 6.5 ph according to test drops. Hard to tell exact PH with drops.
Some of the older leaves on a couple plants look like nitrogen deficiency from leaf patterns. The new growth looks good though.
Topped them all again last week. Tried spreading them apart a bit as well. Next weeks pictures will show the LST.
The one plant has signs of some deficiency with the leaf patterns. Not sure what. I'll have to do some research.
Potted them up to 5ga pots this morning. Combined happy frog with a bag of blue sky super soil and watered with water left out for 48 hours at 6.5ph.
They are slowly starting to spread out. I'll tie them down again tomorrow and will switch to flower when I have the grow area covered with bud sites. I estimate 2 - 3 more weeks. Growth seems a bit slower with soil over coco soilless.
They are getting stinky. Bought a 4" extraction fan with carbon filter. Seems really loud even on the lowest setting but it has eliminated the smell.
Plants seem pretty happy with the happy frog, blue sky super soil mix for the transplant into 5ga pots. Stretching them out and adjusting tie downs weekly. They are not growing vertically much at all which is good considering small grow space. I estimate another couple weeks to fill out grow space.
Starting to get packed in here. I'll be flowering soon. Taking leaves at every tie down. Didn't realize I have been accidentally deleting previous weeks photos. Whoops
Top dressed with 1 Tbsp per gal of gaia green all purpose, bloom and 1.5 cups of worm castings for each plant. One of the plants is starting to look pretty light green so I think I may be a little late with the top dressing. Hopefully this doesn't affect early flower development too much.
Set timer to 12/12 so this will be the last veg week post. It is crowded in there with many many bud sites.
These are the shortest plants I have ever grown. They are approximately 8 inches tall right now. I removed all tie downs. Unsure if you're supposed to leave these on but I got a bit of vertical room to play with.
Had a few issues this week. First thing was there was a power outage for 8 hours or so. Wound up switching light schedule to 6pm - 6am so they wouldn't be without light for most of a 24hr time frame. They seem to be doing fine with this adjustment.
Second thing was I dropped a fan on one plant while adjusting setup. Squished the middle of the one plant but didn't break any branches. All seems fine.
Smell is getting stronger. Particularly strong after watering. Think part of the strong smell is the gaia green top dressing I gave. Only is really strong for a couple days after watering.
They look very healthy to me. No pests so far which I was afraid of with soil. *Knock on wood* Not even a fungus gnat which I had all the time with coco.
Top dressed today with gaia green bloom and a bit of all purpose. Last feed to get through flower.
Bumped up watering to every 2 days cuz they are getting real droopy on that 3rd day. Water 2 gal for all 4 plants. Only a bit of runoff at the beginning.
Last plant has leaves that are quite a bit lighter than others. Unsure if this was hungrier than the others or what. I shifted this one to the outside. Buds are skinnier than the others but stacking well.
Still going. I think it is close and will be done in another week.
Buds are really fat on the second plant from the left. All have similar smell but look slightly different.
I have been watering them every 2 days with runoff for the last 2 weeks. I have not previously watered with any runoff really. Was unsure if you are supposed to flush soil plants like with coco.
Love the lack of pests and bud rot this grow. RH under 30 helped I'm sure.
Might have to put up some supports for these buds. Progress seems to be slow for maturity but they are gaining weight.
I noticed a few fungus gnats on the side that doesn't get as much airflow. Backed off to watering every 3 days and put up a couple sticky yellow tape. Didn't notice any gnats in this watering so drying out a bit helped.
The smoke is a bit on the harsh side. Not too bad but it is noticeable. I think either I top fed too much in week 6 or did not flush well enough.
The one plant has a lot of crystals and smells very sweet. The others smell more skunky. The potency on 3 of them is good but the high feels a bit more saliva. Might have harvested a bit early. The one plant is what I feel super potent. Can't focus on anything while high and makes my head super spinny.
Pretty happy with end product but will make sure to give it some extra time on the next grow and flush medium better.
This Kosher Kush by Garden of Green grow went so smooth. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a disease resistant plant.
These were easy to keep at a short height. They did not even reach 2'.
Flowering time did seem a bit long.
Harvested these and removed all the big fan leaves. Hung them from hangers in the closet with just the extraction fan and carbon filter going. They dried in 5 days and are now resting in glass Mason jars. The smell from opening the jar is incredible and sweet. I did not weigh the harvest after drying but this filled up 10.75 1L jars. I would estimate this as between 9 - 10 oz.
