curious_jules Easy, reliable germination: folded a wet paper napkin around the seed, in sealed tupperware.
Did this on Sunday night; photo taken Wednesday morning, so 60 hours later.
Good start.
Now she goes into moistened everyday soil, in a clay pot, in a south-facing window, on a shelf, in a warm room.

curious_jules A lot happening, not least carrying her back and forth several times from home (safe environment, but cold, and electricity expensive) to work (warm, "free" electricity, but decidedly not safe).
Suspect her early growth spurt is down to the warmth at work - 6cm with four leaves and the beginnings of two more, just a week after she was put down to germinate, is pretty rare.
Devised a safe, warmer space for her at home, inside an old fridge. I'm essentially using the LED lamp as a heater, with the insulation of the fridge keeping that heat in, and of course it's self-contained and light-tight. One of my better ideas :-)
On the down side, I think there are various bugs in the crappy old soil that I planted her in. I've seen several small flies on her already, which I've crushed.
So I moved her into a new pot with mainly fresh soil, salvaged from rotted lawn clippings, mixed with some old coco coir to let it drain more freely.
Let's see if she continues to thrive, or disappears overnight, like her most recent predecessor, eaten by lord-knows-what - at the time, I thought by a snail or slug, now I'm not so sure :-/

curious_jules Growth not quite as explosive as week one, but she's coming along nicely.

curious_jules Went away for 10 days and came back to find this little lady has had quite the week... explosive growth.
curious_jules 9 weeks of coverage here in this diary lost due to the pandemic.
She was nearly lost altogether over Christmas and New Year, since I was in another country and could not water or feed her. On my return, she was burnt, dried out and feeble.
I've nursed her back to health, though her leaf canopy remains poor.
She started to form buds as soon as she'd hydrated, and had some suitable food.

curious_jules She's had to go another 3 weeks without the usual care and attention, since it's hard for me to get to her location in the pandemic.
She's done well, considering - the 24h lights and bloom-specific fertiliser have done the trick and her buds are growing nicely.
Added a new LED light, with a bit more power, with an LED spotlight on a lower bud.
Will continue with 24h light for the next 3 weeks, where again I will barely see her, and then we're done.
Didn't get the usual euphoric brain pattersn, or the musical appreciation. In fact, I just felt kinda dumb.

curious_jules Relatively low yield, but not surprising with the soil, the intermittent watering imposed by the pandemic, and the relatively low powered lights used.
