They are growing and looking better each day with the better spiderfarmer sf 1000 light added at 50% power on the dimmer. I have hope for these lasses. I will transplant to one gallon soon. Then to 3 gallon. And finish in 5 gallon containers. All plastic pots.

Grow Questions

When you cut a potential clone from the mother. I usually try to have at least 3 nodes, but when the nodes are alternating (why do they alternate sometimes?) VS two leaves stemming on each side of the main stem in a symmetrical style? I also cut the bottom in a diagonal way why?

In my experience most symmetrical plants come from seed or from main stem clone. Once you start cutting from side branches you will tend to have asymmetrical or alternating growth. I'm not certain but I believe the purpose of diagonal cutting is to maximize surface area for the clone to uptake water and for the area to grow new roots from.

Sudden yellowing and discoloration of a e or 4 week cutting. I water it when I see the Coco getting a little dry. I make sure there is at least 20% of run off water. I watered with pH corrected water to pH of 6. I also add a small amount of canna bioryzotonic for their roots.

They are still pretty small and could be fine in a solo cup as long as you do your part to keep them happy (watered and fed.) But you could always pop them out really quick to see if they are root bound. Transplanting to a slightly larger pot probably wouldn't hurt as long as you don't put too much water until they spread their roots. I definitely agree that building a good root system before transplant is beneficial at least in my experience. I tend to go from solo (I let 'em get about a foot tall) to a gallon nursery bag (until I see lots of roots along the inside of the bag) then usually into 5 gallon bag. I have seen people go straight from seed to 7 gallon bag with no issues, as long as they do their part to not over water.

I added a stronger light and a more regular feeding schedule and the plants have grown much better with leaves that are returning to the green color they should be. It was probably a combination of a lot of things. But I can say for sure it was lack of light and food. Probably more. That is just all I can know for sure.

The cut leaves are from when I took the cuttings from the mother plant. I do not remember why I started doing that to my clones. Helps with the weight so the sagging isn't bad when first rooting. It shows the new growth pretty well. But so does looking at it. Anyone else cut the leaves accross horizontally when taking cline cuttings?
