Not Weed (check my other diaries for that)- In this diary I will be keeping record of my attempt to grow a tree from seed. I took seeds off of a local Ficus Macrophylla (aka Moreton Bay Fig) which is a pretty uncommon tree in this area. This tree is known for its huge size and buttress roots that are known to be destructive. Dont plant this tree in the ground unless you have an acre to spare.
The first step in growing this tree requires obtaining a fruit from the tree, opening it and cleaning all the grit off of it using Hydrogen Peroxide and water. I planted these seeds on 3/22 and have been watching them daily and they finally decided to sprout today. I will eventually seperate these and transplant them into small individual pots before up potting them to one gallon containers.
I currently have this tree with one of my cannabis plants under my growers choice ROI-420 set to a lower setting.
The tree in the picture is 150 years old. If all goes well this tree will go on to out live me.
I planted these in a mix of coco, worm castings and Royal Gold Tupur. I shouldnt have to fertelize this seedling for a while.
