June 6: one the bigger Frostberries, so likely a male, seems to be producing flowers already. We are getting close to 17 hours of light now and still two weeks before the solstice, but this plant is flowering. Huh.
June 7: confirmed male and moved.
July 3: added Power Bloom at recommended 1 tbsp per gallon of soil and a handful of malted barley as a top dressing.
July 7: a male was identified and it will be used for breeding.
July 8: culled another male.
July 24: this is an early fast flowering strain that I didn’t need to force flower, but I wanted to work it like all the other photoperiods in the grow area. The four domestic plants in the field are not being forced to see how they do here. Oh, and the huge Bubble OG manifold that is too big for me to deal with. See what happens.
July 26: switched to gypsum as Ca source.
Finished force flowering on July 28. This plant didn’t need to be forced but I wanted to handle it like all other photoperiods.
July 31: started using soluble wood ash for K. See today’s Gorilla Gelato diary entry for details.
Aug 9: all is well. Buds are nice and purple, but a bit smaller than the other Lucky13 plants (Perp Walk, Laughing Lion, Leviathan, Okanagan Grape, ?). They were all forced at the same time starting on July 9.
Sep 5: should be done by now but seems to still be putting on weight. Soon.
Sep 6: took 4 highest tops at 69 g wet buds.
Sep 7: late season hailstorm shredded older fan leaves but buds are okay.
Sep 11: took a second round, 106 g wet.
Nice solid purple buds throughout, even down low. This is my first season using manifolding and it really works for outdoor plants. Nice uniform buds and no maintenance after the two rounds of pruning.
