Added 1/2tsp of Geoflora Bloom to each plant. It's been raining almost daily for the whole week. Today they got to get some sunlight and finally dry out a little bit.

No nutes this week. The tallest plant was 5", while the shortest was 2" I may have lost the one that I thought had started growing. We had some very hot days in a row, and I think I didn't keep up on the water enough. They will be getting nutes on Monday. Thursday, I will be getting in soil for the pots. Very soon, these guys will start going into the Grow Area!

All the girls got transferred to 7 gallon cloth bags this week. Added to each bag was 1/2 cup of Geoflora Veg. Added them to the drip system in the Grow Area. I transplanted in the evening, around 7 pm in order to avoid transplant shock.

Sorry for the missed week. Sinus infections are a bitch. I have upped the fertilizer to 1/2 cup of Geoflora Bloom, and upped the Epsom salt to 1/4 cup. My son, in his infinite teenage wisdom, decided to sprinkle the Epsom salt over the plants; so now they look dusted in rock salt. 😳 I'm hoping the upcoming rains will wash everyone off. I see a lot of pre-flower, so I think from here on out I will be updating these as flowering stage. I have had a few plants die from what I believe is heat stress. We had several days with temps over 100 f.

Lots of rain this week. Really didn't have to water them at all. Everyone is getting their stretch on, and really starting to fatten up. No fertilizer this week. I fertilize every other week. I did have a good run of bugs, but the BT spray took care of them. I like to spray the plants weekly, while leaving the sunflowers alone. Once the sunflowers become infested, I spray them too. This seems to be working pretty well. I created a new template to track the height of everyone. It's been nice being able to make quick work of the measurements and pictures. Huge stretch on these guys. They have caught up to the ones that are a week older than them. Just like the other batch, only 6 out of 10 remain. However, one of them isn't looking so good. I have no idea what happened to it. One day it was a little saggy, the next it looked terrible.

Any guesses what happened to this one? It's gone, but it was rather quick. Nothing changed in the routine. My best guess is heat from the previous week.

Hi, seeing as there are no yellow leaves on the adjacent sunflower, I would confidently say its a complete lack of water, when its hot leafy plants transpire like crazy...that water need to be replaced. Perhaps in future a good layer of mulch or straw on the top of soil would retain moisture better and if you could somehow keep those fabric pots out of the drying wind as well because they are worse than terracotta for rapid evaporation. Perhaps a capillary wick system would suit your method..that way you can be confident the plants can access all the water they like and have the wherewithal to withstand a bit of heat. Good Luck!

You get that when you dry them out and don't water them too bad could have been quite something .....

Been a great week, except for when I snapped one of the girls off at the base trying to tie her up to support 😭 Lots of fattening going on otherwise. It's amazing to me how the plants change with time. I feel so lucky to be able to grow these lovely ladies and have the chance to provide herb for the people, and an income for my family.
