It has been so dry this summer! Thankfully my organic soil mixture has great retention. Roots are getting strong. I've been defoliating little by little to allow more light to come through, but careful not to remove too many leaves. Pests haven't been too much of an issue, but I have used some Neem Oil and Garden Safe insect killer a few times to prevent the leaf miners from taking over.
I have also been using wood ash from my fire pit a few times, mixed with Dr. Earth 2-2-2 in water and PH stabilized to great effect. I've also started using Dr. Earth Tomato fertilizer 4-6-3 as the plants start to progress through the blooming stage.
