Girls are growing fast. Last year my platinum Kush lost two branches due to extra large colas so this year I’m layering supports and building a scaffold to avoid another tragedy
First year growing from seed instead of clones. Love the fact that we didn’t go through re-veg like I had to with the clones, for some reason it seems more satisfying to grow from seed. Only downside is that just two of the five rainbow Kush seeds germinated and made it to early flowering. One out of the remaining three did manage to germinate but then got weird, shriveled and died. The last two never germinated.
Last bit of clean up the other day. Defol some of the larger overlapping leaves to allow for better light penetration. The main stalk is roughly the diameter of a 50 cent piece. Man I love gardening, I truly do. I
mean growing tomatoes is nice & I do but
Flowers are ‘mo betta for sure
We’re getting nice little hairy budletts coming in on the three big girls
The mini tree is healthy and all but just frickin small and hasn’t started forming budlettes yet
The three main girls are getting big, essentially the size of small
Trees . It’s fun to watch the Sativa and Indica plants developing side by side, tree 🌲 vs bush 🌳
Two rainbow Kush plants are the only two seeds that germinated out of the batch we purchased . The others either never popped at all or died soon after germinating .
I’ve used the same nutrients at equal volumes for all three plants . Curious how the one rainbow and blue dream are thriving and one rainbow is doing well but not nearly as as lush though it does have the largest leaves I’ve ever seen at well over a foot across.
Temperature has been climbing higher the last few days running an average around 98F. The bigger of the two rainbow 🌈 girls was a bit droopy when I got home from work around six pm. After a cool drink she was back to being her bushy self.
Night time temps have stayed in the low fifties so I’m looking for some color soon.
Last few days daytime temps have been super hot hovering just above 95F…well I suppose it is August after all. The two rainbow 🌈 girls 🌈 haven’t shown signs of heat stress but the blue dream baby is showing a wee bit of discomfort.
It was a tough week for one of my
🌈 rainbow 🌈 girls
Not only was she scorched by sunlight on a very hot day she lost a major branch all covered with clusters of 🌈 goodness
Yeah, I should have checked the supports more often I suppose but ultimately it was a tragedy and I’ll just leave it at that.
Aside from that…
LoL yeah, jeez I know right…what else, a meteor strike, huh?
So the blue dream is looking and smelling absolutely amazing
Sweet fruity goodness
outlook for the week calls for mild weather, fingers crossed
We had a few days of very hot weather with more of the same to come. I put a canopy over two of the girls to keep off most of the sun when at its peak throughout the afternoon. The other big lady has plenty of natural cover from surrounding trees that seems to work well. Started adding liquid kelp extract to all to help with heat management. The rainbow girls flowers have such lovely soft pastel color hairs. The aroma in my backyard is getting quite strong so I’m going to beef up my mitigation methods this week.
Sorry to say one of my girls burned up today due to the 114 F heat . She had some good natural cover(I thought) but still turned into a crispy critter
The ladies that were covered entirely by the new canopy did ok, only one came away with damage where the early afternoon sun got through under the canopy. I’ve got the ladies better covered for tomorrow’s heatwave.
Thinking about getting some colorful auto seeds and seeing what happens. Any suggestions?
Yeah, a rough few weeks with some absolutely wicked excessive temps hitting 115F for 3 - 4 hours a day throughout the last week. And to think, I was all bitching about mommy nature’s bucolic 90 degree F summer days for being too hot only the week before.
Yeah, what I don’t know about weather could fill a library.
Anyway… she’s picking up some nice colors now
I’ve cut out the tiger bloom this week, still adding a touch of molasses and Epsom salts to keep the girls happy. It’s been a rough ending this year, after the insane heatwave we had several days of downpours and intermittent high winds. Rain I can deal with to a greater extent but the winds kicked my ass. One of my long suffering ladies got knocked over late one night and we lost a bit of flowery goodness I’m sad to say
Figure we’ll start to harvest this weekend, fingers crossed
