As a first time grower* I have been monitoring the progress of both strains over the first week. Both strains seem to be growing similarly in height but OG Kush has much faster leaf development. Spray every 2 or 3 days with a 300 ppm solution.
2 x OG Kush (1 seedling is 3 days younger due to a seed not popping the first try)
2 x Misty Kush
OG Kush seems to grow at a much faster rate compared to the Misty. The first serrated leaves have already grown larger than the cotyledon leaves and have started growing above them. Both plants appears to be strong and healthy.
Misty Kush has had some Issues with stuck seed casings and a small propagator has led to some weird bending on the Misty strains. Unsure if the slower seedling growth is normal compared to autoflowers or if it is an issue with their environment. The cotyledon leaves seem to droop considerably and the serrated leaves are developing quite slow, still being maybe 1/4 in size to the cotyledons.
At the end of the first week I have moved the seedlings from their tiny propagator to a larger tray under my grow light about 36 inches from the light. Expect to move to their final RDWC home by the end of next week.
Setup:
4x4x6.5 Grow Tent
Kind LED L600
General Hydroponics Flora Trio
CaliMag
Hydroguard
DIY RDWC System
*Not counting attempts made in younger days with little growing information and poor grow conditions.
Week 2 has been a success, although with some close calls. Due to some of the stalks bending last week some of the plants needed some added support in the form of some straws I placed around the stalks.
All plants have grown their second set of serrated leaves with some starting on their 3rd set.
Temperature conditions have been warmer than I would like them to be and will be setting up some AC this week to help keep the tent below the 80s.
OG Kush #1 is looking very strong. Strong looking leaves with good coloring. No support for the stalk necessary even after a good spray. 3rd set of serrated leaves is coming in nicely.
OG Kush #2 seems to be growing a little more slowly than #1. Its leaves seem to be skinnier with the second set showing some wilting. Stalk seems strong but does lean some after a good spray so I added support. Conditions being warmer than Id like could be contributing to the issues Im seeing but this is the only plant showing these symptoms.
Misty Kush #1 is growing steadily although slower than the OG kush. Leaves all look good with no signs of wilt or discoloration. Added straw support due to some leaning.
Misty Kush #2 had a serious issue last week bending almost completely over. After a few days of being supported it is able to stand on its own now but keeping it in its support for a while longer. Its leaves look good although smaller than Misty Kush #1.
All plants have been moved into my RDWC system.
Week 3 has shown a lot of progress. 1 of each strain has grown very large very quickly and they look to be ready for LST soon. Temperature conditions have improved in the last few days with a few changes to my grow tent. One major change is I had to replace my RDWC system for a DWC system due to sudden serious leaks springing up. Roots have started growing into the nutrient solution.
OG Kush #1 is looking fantastic. Has grown its first set of 5 finger leaves and should be ready for LST soon.
OG Kush #2 is growing a little slower than #1 and is showing some wilting on some of the leaves with a dark purplish color. I trimmed some of the worst spots. PH looks good at 6 for the water with about a 200 PPM solution.
Misty Kush #1 has overtaken OG Kush #1 as the largest plant. 1 leaf has a small amount of brown on it but otherwise its looking great and growing quickly.
Misty Kush #2 is the smallest of the bunch but has shown some increased growth rate over the last couple of days. I was not expecting this one to make it as it was bent completely over due to too much stretching during its first week. Its stalk is now strong and straight and looks very good.
This week has been a good week. All plants have been growing rapidly and all new growth looks great. No more wilting issues and other than some brown spots that looked like calcium deficiancies on 2 of the first leaves on one of the plants everything looks great. I have started using a stronger nutrient solution and so far they seem to be responding well.
OG Kush AF #1 - Before reading afterwards that most people dont recommend topping autoflowers I went ahead and topped this one. It still appears to be in its veg state and was further along than OG#2 so it doesnt appear like it will negatively affect this plant. Its 2 new stalks are already working on their third set of new leaves. Dont plan on doing anymore significant training on this plant.
OG Kush AF #2 - No leaves after its first set appears to show any more signs of wilting or any other serious problems. Other than pruning some of those leaves off I have done very little to this plant. It has stretched very little and is very bushy and dense so far.
Misty Kush #1 - This week I have started working on the manifold training and have topped the plant twice. I am using soft plant ties to pull the first 2 new stalks from the first topping as horizontally as I can without worrying about breaking them. A couple of days later it was showing excellent growth so I topped it a second time. The new growth has not grown long enough to start positioning.
Misty Kush #2 - I also started manifold training on this plant but topped it the first time 2 days after Misty #1. It has recovered quickly and should be ready top a second time tomorrow or the next day. Interesting note, when I topped this plant I noticed shortly after water droplets forming at the cuts and "bleeding" due to the waters red color from the nutrients. As someone unfamiliar with gardening in general I thought this was really cool looking.
Update for OG #1: Checked this morning and it grew up at least a couple inches over the night. Easily the most Ive seen in one evening. I am assuming it finally kicked into flower.
Due to my lack of foresight using an autoflower and a regular seed the plants are starting to be at different points in their lifecycle. I will probably keep updating this one with pictures but I am going to start a separate journal for each strain moving forward.
The OG Kush AFs have started flowering as far as I can tell and are growing well.
The Misty Kush are in the process of being mainlined.
Started new journal for each strain. Continuing to update with pictures but check my individual journals for more detailed updates. Check my profile for my other PDS (Please dont suck) grows.
