Fri 17/8 Those spliff seeds germinate very well; just one day was sufficient.😍
Sun 19/8 4 days after laying the seeds to germinate, we have 5 little babygirls.
Combining Start and Rhizotonic as of now.
Really not much happens those first two weeks. They're in their airpots now.
Using Blumat wateringsystem.
End of week 2: they're almost ready for topping and most certainly for a bit higher EC.
4 nodes. Ready for topping.
Some leave edges seem to curl a bit like the temp is too high. Room temp hasn't exceeded 25.5°C so my guess is too low humid .
Humidity set to 80% now.
This Canna pH- grow seems a bit unstable: I need to acidify (is that even a word?) to 5.4 when making a new solution iot get to pH 5.9 overnight.
Never have these probs with pH- bloom.
They rooted well, schedule set to 12/12 under growing leds.
EC up .2 ppm
I want firm stems, adding Airbomz CO2 during daytime. Also added some H2O2 to solution.
Installed an old phone as a webcam (so I can see them grow😍)
Week 2 flowering: defoliation and pruning. First time I do this, I hope I did this right.
They seem to haven taken their pruning quite well. They look nice and healthy! 😃
5 days after pruning: I think I did well. 😎
They're growing about 1.5 centimeters a day by now.
Increased EC a bit.
Week 3 flowering: smooth sailing, flowering leds switched on, put a net over. Let's rock and roll!
Accidentally dropped my hygro/thermo in the water. RH now 99%. 😜
Now 2nd stage of flowering is near, I'd love to add some Cannaboost to my solution. However, there's a bit of brown algae contamination in my tank (of which I can't seem to get rid of, despite cleaning the tank with and adding hydrogen peroxide to the tapwater (pH 7.9, EC 0.3) I use to make my solution). Cannaboost seems to worsen the problem.
Week 4 of flowering. Plants are not showing their sex yet, at least, not the last time I took a close look.
My solutiontank was empty so I had to make some new, switching to the more stable Canna pH- bloom.
Oct 10th, all of a sudden they're coming into bloom. Hello ladies! 😍
Oct 11th, they're beginning to get a bit smelly; when entering the grow room, there's absolutely no doubt of what I'm growing.
Week 4 of 12h light regime: They really stretched a lot this week and are in full bloom now.
Added some Cannaboost accelerator, because of this quit the H2O2.
Tue oct 16th: they stretched way too much, some branches are nearly one meter high.
Lesson learned: don't switch on blooming lights too soon in order to prevent extensive stretching.
Next time I'll wait till the end of the 3rd/beginning 4th week 12h.
Oct 19th Well, that's most unfortunate. the fan broke of the ceiling and snapped most of the stems. 😱 Some of the top buds broke off 😭
Tryin' to safe what's left by kinda supercropping the remains. 😷
If they're not recovering within a week and a half, I'll have to start over again
Let's see what happens. Will post some photos asap.
So, another week with some pictures from the damage a falling fan has done. Basically all stems snapped more or less.
Hadn't had the courage to take a good look the first days after that happened.
They seem to survive all four and the leaves look healthy but this isn't going to give me a big harvest.
These plants are quite amazing; recovery took about 9 days and although they're quite a mess, they look absolutely healthy.
I guess they're gonna give me some nice bud after all.
Quit the cannaboost as the combination with the tapwater I use causes contamination with brown algae in my tank.
Btw, so to Lacey from customer service Bluelab NZ, who helped me out great when I experienced some problems with the pH probe of my Bluelab Guardian. 🙌
It's amazing to see how these plants seem to cope with the stress the fan inflicted on them; they still look like a mess but seem healthy overall, aside from some red on the stems.
The girls are in full bloom now and started spreading a delicious scent in the growing room.
My guess is that they're two weeks behind schedule now, due to recovery-period.
One plant, the one in the 4th and last photograph, seems to be ahead of the other 3 and thus on her normal schedule.
As soon as I found out to which plant these branches belong, i'll put her on a diet of acidified tapwater EC 0.3.
The other three are going on a diet as well; reducing EC to 1.3.
Well, what's to say. Smell is becoming stronger now. We're nearing the end; harvest in about two/three weeks.
Lowered EC to 0.7, 20% drain. I'll start flushing next week.
End of this week first buds can be harvested.
Started giving pH'd tapwater as of today, at 19°C, drain 30-40%.
Also lowered room temp to 22°C during daytime and 18°C during nighttime.
Lowered nighttime to 12°C, pH'd water to 16°, RH 45-55%
They hardly drink anymore and put a hard effort in protecting their flowers, they're even producing new ones.
Germination:
Never had any problems with Spliff seeds germination; always clean and easy. 👏👏👏 No further particularities to report.
The grow:
After an initial good start, things got out of hand after I added CO2 and switched on the flowering lights too soon. The plants stretched so much, I had to adjust the position of the fan and lamps. Taking the fan of the ceiling wrecked havoc as the fan slipped out of my hands and fell straight on top of the plants. A few stems were cut and most of the others snapped. Straightening them out wasn't possible as the stretch made the stems too brittle to handle. Continued the grow anyway and I'm glad I did so. After two weeks they seemed to have recovered and, although they were a mess, turned out fine in the end; not the biggest harvest ever but I'm very pleased with the quality and density of the buds.
All in all: fairly easy plant to grow and read with potential for a big harvest of a delicious kush. : 1:000
The look very nice , i really enjoy the colour !! Hopefully these lady's start showing their nice flowers soon ! I'm going to follow this one to the end so i can see them all grown up with pretty flowers on them ! 😃
Damn sorry to hear about the fan falling man , that's terrible news ! Sending your ladies all the positive vibes so they can feel better ! They still look wonderful and your still going to get a kick ass harvest !! :D :D :D
-Happy Growing!
@@Delicate_Sounds, they will likely kick it into super overdrive now to try and heal up and then they gonna push out flowers . Still very tragic what has happen here man :(
@The_Projexx,
Thank you very much. They looked so bad, I thought about cleaning out the growroom and start over again but they were already halfway so why not give it a shot and learn from how these plants behave under this kind of stress.
