Hi everybuddy!!
Its my first diary (not 1st cultivation at all...) and I am quite excited to join your community!!😎
Currently the plants are in the middle of flowering but I want to share with you from the beginning of this journey. The cross comes from a mother (ForbiddenfruitXWatermelonzkittles) by purple city genetics seeds and the male have been selected from a batch of bulk seed of (purple punchX Dosido). The first cross have been made 3 years ago, but until this summer I kept an incredibly delicious mother plant of (forbiddenfruitXwatermelonzkitteles) and I was not looking for another one...but nothing lasts forever, so I had to take out the seeds and realizing that germination rate was quite low (in July out of 80 seeds only 2 germinates 😭 ).
Here starts my first diary, hope you enjoy some of this contents, and remember: NEVER THROW AWAY YOUR OLD SEEDS!
After 48 h in water no sign of germination I decided to get a sort of cesarean and getting the embyos out of their shield. Kept at 22-28° C in a sealed container with very little amount of coco choir. After 10 days the survivors were moved to 0.4L pot with Plagron coco choir buffered with my home made mineral formula. Technically the germination lasted 15 days...but I saved the last batch of this amazing cross. Hopefully I will get a couple of males resembling the original father plant to pollinate all the females.
Actually this is the third week from germination but plants start to slowly grow. Also damaged embryos start to pull off new leaves. Keeping the fingers crossed I plan to transplant in the final pot next week, so I can automate irrigation and take a week off
Actually I've taken a couple of weeks away but watering system made its work nicely, seems plants didn't miss me so much 😔
First flowers start to come out, hope to find a "great male" to pollinate female plants
All the plants showed first flowers so I scooped off few males and kept only the 4 most resembling the structure/smell I like the most. Leaves look extremely healty with this mineral home made formula.
Next week I want to change the LED from 75W to 100W 6000K high efficiency street IP65 LED and give first defoliation.
Out of 4 males 2 were similar to their original father, covered in thricomes like a female. I place few males flowers near a table lamp to collect the pollen as soon as they opens. The male plants were removed from the pots, heavily defoliated, topped and place in a separate box to reveg. I have big plans for them 😇
Plants loved the mineral solution so I increase the EC and introduce the 3rd component of the formula.
I know that probably 3.1 EC is a bit too high respect to traditional mineral nutrient solution but plants totally love it!...I am thinking to increase it just a little bit next week hitting 3.5 as maximum and then start decr4easing alpha component. I ordered a test kit for cannabinoids to test the male: can't wait to see the results 🙏
The plants almost finished the stretching phase. First signs of powdery mildew: during the night temperature and humidity are out of control. I decided to anticipate the defoliation, so I can reduce the daily irrigation and improve a bit the air circulation. The pollination using two of the three males seems to be done good.
I let the automatic irrigation system for the last 3 week of flowering using only the PK- B/Mo nutrient solution. It worked perfectly, but in the last week the plant in the picture start to show an impressive grow of this sort of powdery mildew, this plant was carefully removed and dried in a separated box, the idea is to get the seeds and throw it away. The other 7 plants have been chopped down, defoliated only from big leaves, hanged upsidedown. The plant n5 is extremely fruity, like the mother lineage of Forbidden fruit x watermelon zkitteles from Purple City, the n_7 has the most interesting covering and the odour is not fruity at all, is musky and creamy, at the moment of cut.
