Soaked seeds in 1/8 Teaspoon of Kelp per Gallon, 5.5 PH'd water then placed in peat cubes which were in a covered tray with a heat mat placed about 3 inch distance from tray. 5 Days later the "true leaves" grew out and they were given a quarter strength fertilizer with one sixteenth teaspoon per gallon mono ammonium phosphate and 0.3 g per gallon B vit. Transplanted into 3" pots with coco coir medium.
Week 3 Raised EC to 0.8 by end of week. Foliar sprayed with 5 parts fulvic and 2 parts kelp PH for foliar 5.7. Topped day 17 after "true leaves" appeared.
Input =PH 6.0 EC 0.8 Temp 22 Output=PH 5.9 EC 0.9 Temp 22
These plants stretched quite a lot ( from top of medium to top of plant they are 4 feet 9 inches tall). I had to put up a net and I'm still a little too close to lights. I like to keep the canopy at 24 degrees max so I don't degrade any of those delicious trichomes when they appear. I wonder if instead of stretching so much they put that energy into making bud if that would have been a better idea? I'm hoping that the "stretch" will mean a much better yield and if I'm patient the buds will develop regardless.
Plants are drinking 100L/25 gal a night. Output EC is 200 or 300 more than input, I will reduce food a little bit. PH is coming out lower than Input but I don't see any damage to leaves. Plants are smelling nice, some are spicy and some are skunky and some are sweet but their taking their dam sweet time.
Since the "stretch" really left no room for lights, and the netting wasn't giving enough distance I removed the netting, moved the exhaust, Removed the wire hangers from the Spider Farmer lights and added a wooden frame, this allows the lights to hang 6" closer to the ceiling and further away from plants. Had to crack a bunch of necks and tie some plants down with soft rope to allow for more distance from light. Moved end fan higher to help remove heat from lights, added another fan (5 total) helps move cO2 and foliage around. I hope these measures will eliminate any fox tailing. Thanks Robert's for your suggestions✊
Plants are a little over fed Reduced EC. Working around the plants the smells are wonderful.
Trichomes are milky with the odd amber, smell is room is skunky, spicy and sweet. On some plants trichomes are really heavy and look like there's trichomes upon trichomes😍. I like the variety of smells from the different types, Seems that they did ok even with the torture and abuse.. I've decided to keep feeding after another go with the magnifier as there's too many diamond trichomes. So will keep feeding and monitoring trichome development. Trichomes are beautiful! Sativa's are taking their dam sweet time so some plants are closer to cut than others.
Input EC 1.0 Output EC 1.4., Trichomes are showing more milky but still some are bright. Bright diamonds are dulling down, skunky, spicy, sweet and fruity smells when working in canopy. Lovely😍 Even with a bit of torture these plants are giving up their bounty soon.
Plants look good, If you want some help cleaning up that setup let me know. I have a lot of experience with larger scale operations design & setup and construction as well as running them. Keep it up fellow Canadian!
