Got started on my first ever grow!! Started 13 seeds off in a small cup of water for about 16 hours. Then they went the paper towel method in a baggie for 48 hours. All 13 popped but I only had enough soil for 11😕. Got them all planted and so far they are all sprouted and growing. There was one I over watered on day 4 and thought it wasn't going to sprout at all but so far it is hanging in there.

Not much happening this week. The runt is still alive but I didn't get any pictures. I will post an update for it next week. So far I have managed to keep all 11 plants alive. Fingers crossed the first timers luck holds out.

How much and how often should I be watering my plants growing in a soil-less mix and 3 gallon pot? I have seen many conflicting arguments. So far I have been giving them 1 Liter every 3 days.

So you sound like you have it dialed in right now. Plant looks healthy. I have read every 2-3 (more like 3) days. Remember the amount will change as they get bigger. Do more research to get more opinions too. Great job so far. My one question is, as a newbie grower, do you have a place, light, space, etc for all these girls? Last comment, dump the stunted one, trust me, it's not worth saving. I had the same issue and the yield was not worth the time/work it took to save her.

Week three in the books and the babies are all still doing great! There were a few that were damaged in one way or another and they have all recovered with a small bit of LST. Added the Voodoo Juice and B-52 from Advanced Nutrients to the feeding this week with all still only being given at 1/2 the recommended dosage.

Lots of progress this week. First, thanks to the help of some fellow growers, I was able to fix my leaf curling problem. Turns out it was heat damage due to low humidity. So to fix it I added a small humidifier that I have to refill every other day and have gotten my average RH up to 55%. Second, I figured now was a good to to try topping and FIMming a few of the plants. So far so good and they all appear to still be doing very well at the end of the week. Third, I also picked up some plant training wire and have started doing some LST to prepare for flowering. And last, increased the nutrient levels. Feeding them about half of the levels on the bottle.

Not to much to say this week. The plants have been growing like crazy. I have done some more LST but decided not to top any of the plants a second time since this is my first grow. This was the last week of veg and to be honest I am very happy with where the plants are so far!

First week of flower!! I switched the lights to 12/12 the first day of this week and I am super excited to see what these ladies do. I say ladies... these were just regular bag seeds so unfortunately have to be on the look out for any males lurking around the garden. And, lo and behold, the boys showed up in droves. Just in the first week I went from 11 ladies down to 6, and 2 of the 6 still may turn out male. No worries though even if I only end up with 4 I am having so much fun!😁

Not much to report this week. It is pretty awesome starting to see the buds form though. At the risk of sounding cheesy... I'd say it's almost magical! 😁 The garden is a bit lighter as well. Down to 6, from 11, and there are still 2 that I am concerned might be male. I suppose we shall see.

Well sad news first... The 2 questionable "ladies" did turn out to be male, and on top of that I had another one begin to herm out. So now we are down to a small little garden of 3. But no worries!! On the plus side, do you see that growth?? These 3 are going to be fantastic!

The bud sites are getting thicker and closing all the little gaps, but no real changes this week. I have adjusted the watering schedule over the last few weeks and am now going with 1L every 2 days. So far they are loving life and getting bigger every day!

The little ladies are still growing like crazy this week! I have noticed that the tips of the leaves are turning brown and looks like nutrient burn so I am going to give them a good flush next week and lower the nitrogen a bit and see how they do. Overall though I really couldn't be happier with the way things are going so far!

These ladies have started to smell amazing!😍 I love opening up the tent and getting a big breath of fresh home grown cannabis. This week I watered them twice without nutrients and then dialed the next feed down by about 1/4 overall. They seem to be doing better and I think I will just continue to lower the nutrients slowly next week in preparation for the final flush. I have also started a bit of an experiment with bud back building. I have seen a few videos about it and figured it was worth a shot. So on day 76 I snipped just a tiny little bit off the ends of some of the buds in an attempt to make them thicker and denser as opposed to tall and skinny. The pictures are of 2 main colas on the same plant that were roughly the same size to start.

So not much this week, but things continue to progress well. I have lowered the nutrients by half each feeding this week and will begin the flush next week. The "bud back building" experiment is going well so far and preliminary results are leaning toward it being a good thing to do. The tops that I did not snip are growing more tall and thin where the ones that were snipped are shorter but appear to be more dense overall.

So I may have jumped the gun with the flush... The leaves on my big plant started to get really yellow, which I expected, but the tricomes did not mature as fast as I had hoped. So at the end of the week I decided to give them a quarter strength feeding and hold off a few weeks for harvest. The bud back building experiment was a success. From what I have observed the ones that were snipped appear more densely packed and are shorter, where the ones left alone are taller and skinnier. Next grow I think I will end up snipping everything, I like the look of them better but it will make it slightly more difficult to trim the sugar leaves at harvest.

Not much change this week. The buds are still growing slightly though and the tricomes are looking nice and cloudy now. I think we might be on track for a harvest next week...??? Here's hoping anyway!

Last week of flower now! I have made the decision to chop them down at the beginning of next week. A few things I discovered this week that I wish I would have known earlier but that is what this first grow was for in the first place. I had noticed for a while that the buds nearest the top of the plant were continuing to produce new pistils even thought the plant should have been nearing harvest time. Come to find out, at least in my case, it was due to heat/light stress. I ended up letting the plants get to big for the tent with no way to raise the lights. So hopefully lesson learned and I can train the next crop a little better and not have this issue again😉

So my first grow has come to an end, and what a fantastic journey it was! I had some trouble with these girls from the beginning, mainly due to my lack of knowledge, but they were strong and survived. The harvest itself went well, though I didn't realize the effort and time that trimming takes... For my first grow, it was awesome and I can't wait to start my next GrowDiary!
