I'll be growing Green Leopard genetics with the Green Leopard G630 Full Spectrum LED Grow Light and Sea of Beam (under canopy lighting). This is going to be a one strain photoperiod grow. The biggest challenge I have is loadshedding which you'll only experience in South Africa.
STRAIN NAME: White Widow
GENETICS: Green Leopard
PHENOTYPE: Sativa 40% / Indica 60%
The only challenge I have had thus far is "loadshedding" which is unique to South Africa and it's planned power-outs. I don't have a inverter or generator to keep my lights on so I hope that light stress will not become an issue.
A lot has happened this week. I transplanted into their final pots on Sunday and started LST on Wednesday. I wanted to wait a week before training but I saw new growth which to me means that the roots have somewhat been established in their final pots.
Accidentally did a supercrop on one of my plants today which I'm not too happy about. It was the main stem and it was pretty bad...felt like a clean break on the inside but the outer stem is still intact
So I was planning to keep the girls in veg for two more weeks which would've allowed for me to top, FIM and defoliate but things didn't work out that way.
South Africa was pushed to stage 6 loadshedding which means 10 hours without electricity a day. Loadshedding basically flipped the girls to flower for me.
Hoping for a good outcome 🤞🏻 cause light stress is now a problem.
I had to unexpectedly flip to flower when stage 6 (which is actually stage 8 in disguise) was implemented last week. That means 10 hours without electricity a day. I would've ideally liked to veg for two more weeks to allow for topping and fimming. I have never done either hence the desire to do both. Guess one girl felt the frustration and topped herself. She's my favourite and so fascinating.
Other than that I'm very happy with the grow so far. The girls are happy and thriving.
Very impressed with the Green Leopard Genetics this far. The plants are soldiering through loadshedding which is great to see. I hope it continues.
Trichomes started to form.
I'm happy with the grow so far.
We are still experiencing loadshedding in South Africa which means that I am interrupting day and night cycles. We have 11 hours and 30 minutes (intervals) without electricity per day, every day, so I have to give them light when I can. I do not have backup power but definitely working on that.
You've got to fuck around to find out ✌️🏻
Found a tip for your lights when growing White Widow. Greenhouse Seed Company suggests changing your lights to 8 hours during the last 2 weeks of flowering in order to halt regrowth on the buds and to produce just enough stress to coax out the maximum amount of sticky resin. I will be switching my light cycle accordingly.
All is good in da hood this week. I've decided to let them run for 10 weeks, unless I'm happy with the trichome ripeness. I'm switching to 8 hours light at the end of this week of bloom.
It's winter in South Africa so humidity is getting difficult to control during the cold and wet conditions. I have been pushing these plants. I was aiming to only harvest during week 10 of flower but I might have to harvest sooner to avoid bud rot setting in.
Very happy with the outcome. I like growing Christmas tree style plants so the main colas are huge. The buds are rock hard and covered in sticky resin. I highly recommend growing White Widow. I have not smoked this strain before so I'm super excited.
This felt like an apocalyptic grow. Loadshedding was a real pain and the humidity was scary but I'm happy with the results.
The genetics are great. The plants endured a lot but they pulled through.
