Little slow but it was my first time I was probably overwatering quite a bit in germ which may have stunted them. Was just overusing the spray bottle on their paper towels I think.
They all popped their first leaves pretty nice, don't have too many pics of the early days. The Zkittles OG starts on week 2, was gonna save that seed along with the forbidden runtz #2 seed for my second grow but I got bored and popped em later on, so the forbidden runtz #2 is ab half a week or so younger than FBR #1 and GSC, and Zkittles OG is a week or two younger. That being said the younger forbidden runtz plant has the most explosive growth and ends up bigger than her two older sisters. Zkittles OG has a longer lifespan so as you will see it is pretty consistently much smaller than the rest throughout the grow.
Did some LST I was prob messing with em a little early so I think this stunts them slightly, I only really practice LST on the two oldest girls, FBR #1 and GSC, throughout the grow. Big bloom helped em out to pop up some, but I kinda wish I never bought the fox farms nutrient trio - they give me so many issues throughout this grow. These plants got some light burn around this time which stunted them some too I think. Fox Farm's bush doctor CalMag they like but the big bloom, grow big, and especially tiger bloom are just too risky for a first time grower like myself. I guess I am is partially to blame because I should have lowered the doses I gave them. I just wish I did an organic topdressing for the early parts of this grow, but mistakes are how you learn.
Got bored on this week and messed around with nutrients and some new topdressing I got at my local garden center. Recipe 420 Recharge and Ultra Bloom. I think the topdressing attracted some fungus gnats tho, the stuff really stinks and the gnats began to buzz around the Zkittles OG's soil. The two oldest girls still just off one dose of big bloom from last week. The two younger ones I tested a small dosing of grow big/big bloom on which I think could have had some weird yellowing effect on the entire Zkittles OG Plant and it stunted it a bit I think. But the FBR #2 liked it. All throughout these early weeks I was definitely watering them way too regularly. I watered every 3 days which just wasn't enough time. This is another reason why the fungus gnats attack me later.
Just PH water with calmag this week, looking back on it this was a great week for them when they were all super healthy and beginning their explosive growth. Next week I make a big nutrient mistake.
Gave them a big feeding during this week and they all experience some nute burn leading into next week, the two FBR plants get it the worst, while the Zkittles not as much and the GSC only very slightly (description of genetics says this GSC strain likes a strong heavy feeding). The early signs of it show this week and next week leaves start to really yellow and brown on my two FBR plants.
Just water this week as my two FBR plants recover from nute burn and also begin to flower, GSC is getting tall and really is packing on some size for preflower, catching up to the FBR #2 plant. Ive been getting a lot of fungus gnats in my soil so I sprayed all of the plants foliage/soil with hydrogen peroxide/water solution and also added some perlite to the top soil to help the plants breathe some. The nute burn got pretty Nast on FBR #1 so I cut off most of it's big feeder leaves which were effected the most, along with some toasty smaller leaves - just want to see what effect removing the damage will do compared to the FBR #2 plant which I am not touching. My girlfriend has a bond with FBR #2 so she hasn't let me do any sort of LST or defoliation or "experimental" stuff to this plant hahaha besides the cat munching a couple leaves, which probably explains why is has out grown all the other plants.
I forgot to mention, I topped the Zkittles OG as an experiment and it has reacted pretty well, but I was separating the two top branches with ties and I snapped one, resulting in a duct tape bandage. It seems to be recovering but the other branch is already so much bigger haha. Overall tho for a first grow I think it was beneficial that I've been pretty spontaneous in my training methods and nutrient feedings, the mistakes and reactions of the plants has taught be a lot and I already feel so ready to start my next grow. Another thing about this grow in that 4 plants just feels a bit crowded in the 2x2, but they are all in 3 gallon pots. I will probably just grow 1-2 plants in this tent in the future and now that spring in coming I will plant some more auto flowers on my balcony, and I will likely try out some Photoperiods in my grow tent. Ethos might be my next move. I really like 420FastBuds but I have a slight feeling that because they focus so heavily on auto flowers the genetics of their strains might be slightly more unstable than other brands or photoperiod strains, resulting in some variety between phenotypes. But I am only a first time grower and could say nothing bad about my experience with their genetics. But this is what I feel may be the case.
