This year I’m growing Kawartha Kush, Grape Dragon and Lebanese Dragon. Paper towel method was once again almost 100%. I planted the seedlings today and will grow, as usual in the sun by the windowsill. This does work for me but I expect to replant some seedlings when they become leggy. I have covered some cups with plastic wrap to create a terrarium effect. We will see how it works.
Well so far 24 seedlings have sprouted. As expected, they became very leggy although I wasn’t expecting in the 1st week!! I replanted them deeper and switched to solo cups for the smaller pots. All look healthy.
I’m very late with an update but I transplanted to 10 gallon smart bags on May 27th. Also some in 7 gallon pots but will concentrate on the 4 smart pots for this diary. I premixed with Pro Mix Hp, some worm castings and perlite. I generally added 10 tablespoons of Gaia Green All Purpose and a little bit of Gaia Green Bloom to each pot. A 70/30 split according to a video I saw.
I topped 3 out of four plants. The Karwartha Kush has not had much growth so I didn’t touch that. Some plants are showing very slight signs of nute burn. Hoping with the hot weather gets the roots firmly established.
The plants look healthy despite foggy smoke haze from forest fires from Quebec. The concern I have now is that they really are not growing vertically this week. I plan to increase the water next week and see if that gives them a boost. The substrate has been damp though. The ones I topped have recovered nicely.
We have had a significant amount of rainfall this week, hence the pots have been saturated. The plants are all looking good though. Starting to see some vertical growth and they are getting bushy.
They seem to have had some vertical growth finally. All look healthy other than the Lebanese Dragon. There is some markings on the leaves. Could be pollen or bug activity. I will monitor for a couple of days and apply Safers if needed.
I added 10 tablespoons per pot of Gaia Green All Purpose today. The Kawartha Kush is growing slow. It’s only 18” today compared to 29” for the Grape Dragon.
The Lebanese Dragon appears to have spider mites. I sprayed a couple of times with Safers Insecticidal Soap. It also has yellowing tips on some fan leaves. Can’t see how it would be light burn as it’s outdoors? We have torrential rains this week so pots have been soaked for the most part.
Strong vertical growth on the Grape Dragon this week while the Karwartha Kush is 25”. All look healthy. The smart pots have a lot more growth and width compared to the 7 gallon plastic pots.
I have added 10 tablespoons of Gaia Green All Purpose and about 5 trowels if worm castings to each pot. All are healthy but the Kawartha Kush is holding water more and doesn’t have the same growth.
One of the Grape Dragons appears to be male. The buds just appeared within the last 3 days. Others seem to be OK. Vertical growth slowed down this week.
I confirmed that one of the Grape Dragons was a male and disposed of it. The other 3 are fine so far. Any day now for the remaining Grape Dragon reveals its sex.
All three plants have hit the flowering stage with the Lebanese Dragon the furthest along. The Grape Dragon has maintained the the lead at 74” but surprisingly, the KK has just about caught up. So far overall it has been a 50/50 split between males and females.
All three plants are in flower and growing nicely. I added 10 tablespoons of Gaia Green Power Bloom and 6 trowels of worm castings. The Lebanese Dragon is looking a little stressed as I write this but hopefully it bounces back in a couple of days.
Having problems with Powdery Mildew on the Lebanese Dragon. I sprayed it with approx a tablespoon and a half of hydrogen peroxide and 24 ounces of water. It helped but not enough. Today I sprayed with a tablespoon of baking sofa, teaspoon of Dawn dish soap and teaspoon of olive oil. So far very happy with result. Big buds with some amber hairs on this one as well.
The buds on the Lebanese Dragon are thick and smell great. Tricomes seem close under the lens, which is crazy as I suspect we are a month away till harvest. Unfortunately this plant has some disease on the fan leaves. Maybe thrips or more likely a potassium deficiency. PMD seems to have slowed down after spray.
I added Gaia Green Bloom and worm castings again. The last time for the year. The Lebanese Dragon fan leaves are yellowing. The other two are doing well.
The weather has changed and it is a lot cooler this Thanksgiving weekend. We had a huge rainstorm Friday and one whole stalk from the Grape Dragon snapped. I harvested that stalk. Trichromes still haven’t showed signs of amber. Dealing with a little bit of PMD. Day to day regarding harvest at this point.
This should probably go down as harvest week but will update later. The Lebanese Dragon came down Oct 11, the KK Oct 12th and the rest of the Grape Dragon Oct. 13th. All were bud washed with one cup of Hydrogen Peroxide to a 5 Gallon pail of water, 1/2 cup of lemon juice and baking soda in the second bucket and clean water for the third. The 1st batch of Grape went mouldy during the dry and I threw it out. I need to get my drying game and humidity levels right next year.
