This is a strain I wanted to try for some time. I grew some strains before that had 50/50 THC/CBD levels, however this strain would be nice for some extra focus during the day. When she's ready I want to use part of the harvest for making CBD oil, and part for making bubble hash and rosin. The flavors of fruit and honey, as described on the 2Fast4Buds website gave me the idea to capture these flavors in some bubble hash rosin.
But first things first! This lady has to reach maturity from the fragile seedling she is now. During germination I had to carefully remove the seed cap, which is always a painstaking moment. But she survived my fiddling and is now opening up her tiny leaves and soaking up the full spectrum SanLight rays :)
Germination was really fast, only after 2 days in the seed plug and off she went. More updates coming soon!
It felt like a bit of a risk moving her into the greenhouse already but she seems to be enjoying herself. The first fan leaves are growing rapidly and no signs of stress.
Today (Thursday) I decided to move the seedling to the greenhouse and her final 11 Liter pot. To make the transition as smooth as possible I used an empty paper cup to make an imprint in the final pot, carefully cut away the paper cup that holds the seedling and slide her in the potting hole. No stress 😇
I added some Mycorrhiza and Bactrex to help her grow and develop healthy roots. I closed the windows of the greenhouse to protect her from the weather for a couple of days. Let's see how she likes her new environment!
Not much to say at this point, other that the CBD Auto is looking healthy and growing at a steady pace. More pics will be added later this week! To prevent the soil from drying up too fast I placed a mulch layer of hemp in the pot.
Not much to say at this point beside that the CBD looks healthy and happy in the greenhouse. I put some mulch on the spoil to retain some moisture. The greenhouse does get very hot these days. The CBD Auto doesn't seem to mind 😄
Trouble in paradise :( The mulch layer caused the CBD to become waterlogged. The leaves suddenly started wilting. To help her recover I removed the mulch layer and let her dry up outside the greenhouse where there is more wind. Luckily she already looked better this morning!
At the end of week 3 I decided to do a ScrOG with an awesome 3D printed scrograck I got from a mate. It's made to function as a stand, but can also be mounted in my GTools Bonanza growbox with custom made clips. Awesome stuff! I prepared the CBD by topping her. I do this by gently pushing the top to the side untill it breaks off. This hardly gives the plant any stress so it doesn't slow down the grow.
The CBD has now fully recovered from her water logging adventure. The new leafs look very healthy and no signs of stress from the topping. I have to fix the ScrOG rack as the heat in the greenhouse caused the 3D printer clips (that hold the stand in place) to expand and loosen. Probably some binding wire will do the trick.
Until I find a solution for the ScrOG rack, I applied an LST clip to the main branch. This will keep her from growing vertically too much. The next day the main branch was already pointing up. I attached some binding wire to keep the top horizontal and give the side branches a chance to grow taller. I bought some new clamps to keep the scrog rack in place. More on this in the next few days!
The CBD started blooming at the end of last week. She's pretty small compared to the Gorilla Cookies, but she's still got a long way to go before harvest. The LST did the trick and I managed to create a nice even canopy. More pics and video's coming up later this week.
At the start of thew second week of blooming the buds are growing a bit faster. Overall the plant is quite small, but looks healthy. More update and pics later this week.
The buds are growing very well. Last week looked like she didn't grow that much, but now it's looking much better. The plant is healthy, has a bit of damage to the leafs by bugs but nothing serious. In fact, this kind of stress/damage by insects triggers the plant to develop more resistance to pests.
The canopy of the CBD auto is nice and full. I'm thinking about removing some of the leafs as the buds are packed tightly together. The lower buds don't get too much sunlight at the moment. Besides that the CBD is growing very well. Still not as tall as her 420 Fastbuds Gorilla Cookies sister, but this would make a really good SoG plant for sure.
The CBD is small but beautiful. The buds are very dense with sugarleafs. Not too much trichromes just yet, and the smell is only faint, but she has a few weeks to go. The plant looks very healthy.
The buds are growing very well. They have a lot of sugar leafs and not too much resin just yet, but she still has a week or 2 before harvest. It is turning into a rugged little bonsai and it's beautiful to look at. The weather is not too hot so I cut down the watering to once a day, which is more than sufficient.
At the end of this week I can clearly see the CBD Auto is producing more resin. The buds are swelling and becoming frosty. Smell is still a bit weak at this point.
Well week 11 started out with mould 😱 The weather is very cold for the time of year and even the constant airflow could not prevent the mould from growing. Luckily only one cola was affected. I removed it and upon inspection no further harm was done. I placed the pot a bit closer to the fan so the airflow is improved. The smell is getting better by the day. It's a very nice herb/citrus smell. The buds grow with a steady pace, looking better by the day!
Upon inspection the trichromes were still mostly transparant. I was thinking about harvesting this week, but looks like I will need to wait for at least another week or so.
Found mould again in another bud, it was one of the smaller buds, and I hope it will not spread to other parts of the plant. I do want to wait for another week to harvest, but if I find more mould the CBD Auto needs to be cut down :(
This strain was easy to grow in the first 8 weeks. After the buds began to grow bigger they became affected with mould. Even with the fan in front of the plant this was an issue in the last weeks of flowering. So unless the summer is really hot and dry where you live, I would recommend this strain for an indoor grow. The plant stays quite short and compact making it ideal for guerilla grows in a backyard or an indoor SOG setup. Sufficient airflow and low humidity during flowering proved critical.
I wished I could have kept her alive for another week but in this case I had to be content with the result as it is. Looking forward to vaping the dry buds to experience the taste and effect.
