My mission for a Chemdog '91 keeper plant begins.
Soaked 6 Chemdog '91 S1 seeds from Humboldt CSI for 24 hours. All 6 seeds cracked and had their roots popping out. They were then placed directly into their pots 6/22/2023.
Five of the six seeds sprouted from the soil ( coco and perlite )
Turns out the un sprouted never extended further out of the seed casing then when its root popped out.
I then soaked 7th seed which sprouted 6/30/2023.
To help identify each individual they were each given a color since te Chemdog lineage has plenty of numbers and letters in its naming convention.
The orignal Chemdog '91 clone aka the Skunk VA cut is already super old. If im trying keep this plant for a good chunk of time i dont know if an super old cut is the way to go.
The offspring of the Chemdog'91 when pollinated by itself has a narrow band of variation. I know the offspring will never be exactly like mom but it would be cool to get a weird ugly ancient looking plant that may be as finicky as its mom.
I go into this recognizing that i will have to sift through some inbred, recessive,"junk" because of the nature of selfing a plant.
I hear the hybrids of Chemdog '91 are better then the S1's and usually inherit their moms potency. Some of her decendants rival her potency as in Chemdog D.
Thanks to Humboldt CSI' extreme generosity, im talking EXTREME generosity when it comes to freebies, I have various Chem'91 hybrids to fall back on if due to plant population limits i don't find a plant that checks some of the boxes i would like to check.
I ultimately i would like to keep my own Legendary Chemdog '91 in the closest way possible for a busy average Joe. I've become obsessed with Chemdog '91 and even though its impossible to smoke modern cannabis with out havung some lineage back to the great Chemdog'91 i really want to grow some of this history myself.
I also dont trust/want any local dispensary Chem especially since I've never actually smoked any "legit" or vetted real deal Chem flower outside the myriad of decendants.
