Into week 4 from first sprouting and I think things are still looking healthy. Both are making noticeable changes day by day and I really look forward to my first ‘visit’ each day to see what they’ve been up to. Took some deep breaths and instigated a couple of changes, firstly I gave them their first nutrient feed; a three way mix of GH products (micro, gro and bloom) but mixed to 30% of recommended strength, mixed one at a time and then PH’d. Looks like the nutes have an effect on reducing the PH meaning less other additives. Planning on feed, water, feed and maybe upping the concentration as we go as long as they don’t start to show and signs of stress. Also started some gentle LST, eek!
Was a bit worried about this as didn’t want to damage them but I figure I’m not going to learn without taking some chances so out came the soft wrap wire and the drill. Felt a bit sad initially as the plants are pleasing to the eye and I knew this was going to affect that but the whole idea is self sufficiency so want to try and increase potential yield where I can. Started with an anchor wire but found I was a little ham fisted when starting the main bend, caused some damage to a few leaves and one smaller branch looked decidedly dejected. Next day however was a different story, everything had reoriented and even the droopy branch looked like it had some more lead in the pencil! A few days later the smaller of the 2 had her first introduction as well. Have found with some gentle manipulation the stems can be quite pliable, just need a little patience which makes the wiring much easier.
Coming towards the end of week 4 now and the ladies are growing like……well weeds! Multiple tops now emerging from No.1 and No.2 is looking fuller and stronger. I really need to consider removing some fan leaves as they’re proving to be an excellent ‘sun shade’ but have found I can bend and tuck them underneath as reticent at the moment to get rid of anything that helps her grow. This rearrangement only helps for so long before they find their way to the light so think it’s inevitable. Any-hoo, till next time.
Hi all. 1st timer trying to find their way with a watering query please. Seedlings in soil into 2nd week and currently spraying (15 mists) of ph water onto soil every 3-4 days. When though should I start to increase and by how much as aware of dangers of over doing it. Thank youx
High, there are 2 basic rules to follow when watering.
When plants are young you never give more than 5% from the pot volume. And when plants start to become thirsty you never give more then 10% from the pot volume in water. So basically when you are using a 10 liter pot then you give 500ml water (When they are in full bloom mode and thirsty 1 liter).
And in between waterings you want the top layer of the soil to be completely dry before you water again. When the top inch is dry you can water again. Also when the plants are young like this water the outside of the pot not the inside near the plant. You want the roots to grow and searching for water. This way your roots develop to be larger and healthier and most important they still got access to enough oxygen.
Enjoy your grow buddy!
Hi gang. Have a query around TDS. My girls have had their second nute feed today (using alternating method) of GH products at 50% conc. The TDS of the mix (PH 6.3) was 500 and fed enough to gain around 10% runoff. This tested at 702. Acceptable or not? More nutes next time? Thx x
Hey WhiteEdge. Thank you so much for the education, I appreciate you taking the time. That all makes perfect sense and has made me feel much happier. Be safe buddy and cheers again!
Hi gang. Think my 1st girl is a week or 2 out (thoughts?) but No2 is a couple behind (later sow). When I cut how’s best to dry when only have 1 space which will need lights on for the 1 lagging? Cardboard box? If so what about humidity, would a boveda or 2 help? Thx and love.
2way humidi packs won't do shit for initial drying -- way too much mass involved. That's for when the drying is 90% done. (number pulled out of hat, but gist is good)
it can hang anywhere... got a standup clothes drying thingamajig? hang it from one of those. buy a mesh rack. make a mesh rack.. so many options are better than trying to dry it in the same room as a grow.
the more cooped up and stangant the air is, the more microbial growth you'll have anyway.
common sense - avoid your laundry room, lol.. lint and shit on your buds. dirty attics or crawlspaces etc. it's only for 5-10 days. put it anywhere but under an intense light.
Light is the single greatest force of reducing potency after harvest, given common sense temps/rh of planet earth.
Mayday Mayday. Some very yellowing leaves which appear to be bending down. Alternating water and nutes, reduced quant, with good runoff PH in early 6’s, no working tds monitor. Lights @ 18”, full tilt. Too close and/or nute issue? Flush the shit out of it ur no? Thanks gang x
Need more info and pictures.
Older leaves yellow could be hungry for nutes.
Watch for overwatering. That can cause lockout and droopy leaves but so can under watering.
Rust spots and yellowing. Needs calmag.
Hi gang,Could I ask for your best guesstimate as to when she’ll be ready. Been looking so closely for so long don’t know if I’m just manifesting a touch of amber. Been so patient that don’t want to stack it now. Hold my horses or sharpen the secateurs? Thanks you lovely bunch
Wow buddy!! super nice buds
What an amazing grow so far - good job and well done 🤝
Happy Growing & cant wait for your upcoming weeks 🌱
Cheers, Bud Boutique 👩🌾
