First time growing in coco, so far so good. Started with canna coco bricks, hydrated and flushed them with PH 5.8 r/o water with about 200 PPM (1tsp/gal) worth of GH CALiMAGic. I germinated them in paper towel, then planted them directly into their final pots. One of them is currently growing in a hempy bucket with about 3 inches of perlite at the bottom. I live in a small country town and the hardware store only had one bucket left so the other is growing in a 3 gal fabric pot.
After germination as soon as the first little serrated leaves started developing I added very low dose nutrients of around 100 PPM from the GH Flora Trio (300 PPM total at this point with the calmag). A few days later they were showing no signs of tip burn so I decided to up the does by another 100 PPM as I felt they could handle it.
Not much to say for this week, they seemed to grow nicely. Forgot to take any pictures for the last few days of the week.
Kept the PPM at 400 for the first few days of this week then increased it to 500 for the rest of the week. Calmag was kept at a full strength dose of 1tsp/gal (200 PPM).
Since they are growing nicely I am considering topping them at around the 3rd node, will have to wait and see if they stay healthy enough.
Decided they were healthy enough to top them towards the end of this week. Nutrients were increased slightly. Not much more to say about this week, just a waiting game to see how they bounce back from being topped.
Lots of new growth after being topped, pretty happy with how they are moving along. Nutrients increased slightly again this week. Using 1/2 dose of calmag at this point.
Growth has been amazing this week. Slightly increased the nutrients again and noticed I got a slight bit of tip burn on some of the leaves so will most likely keep the PPM around the 600 mark for the rest of the grow. Did a slight bit of LST on them to keep the canopy as even as possible, didn't want to go too crazy on them as they had already been stressed from the topping.
Started showing their sex this week, time to bring on the stretch! Did some light LST again on one of them as it was starting to grow taller than the other one. Temps have been on the higher side recently (up to 30C) in my tent as the A/C broke in my house and has just recently been fixed. Managed to keep the VPD in check for the most part so they did well in handling the hotter temps.
