copy/paste disclaimer: I started these diaries a bit late, and in order to enter into the competitions I'm starting them as single strain diaries to be eligible (as the note states when creating new diaries). Week two may come early, within the next few days for some, however from then on it would be as consistent to the day as possible. END OF DISCLAIMER.
I've been a fan of Biscotti for some time, something I share with a lot of people I have noticed, however when I saw this breeding project being available it was not difficult to choose this one over others. I'm expecting a really pungent, upgraded version of what I have been used to in the last few years; she seems to be growing quite happily so far, and I am not expecting much to get in the way.
-start of week 2-
Biscotti 2.0 is going wild, and I love it! Water all pH'd correctly and she just looks very eager to grow out.
I'm slowly easing them into nutrients, however they seem to be loving it so I may as well begin on the feeding regimen. Last night I had them taste a solution of Silica with Grow nutrients (Shogun again this time), and I can only begin to describe how happy they are this morning.
-should have been updated on Friday, pics from then-
Biscotti 2.0 is showing some signs of leaf stress, which could be due to the humidity and temps being out of the range of a proper VPD chart. I've also had to encourage a stretch as the internodal spacing is too short, and for such a fat leaf cultivar I have a feeling that would be needed.
I'm going to be spraying a foliar of Shogun's Katana Roots, which seems to do a good job in the previous grow. I'm also waiting for the soil to dry a considerable amount, hoping she'd also bounce back with a proper wet-dry feed cycle.
Yeah, so, I have no bloody clue why Biscotti 2.0 is trying to pretend it's a bundle of spinach.
I'm trying to encourage a stretch, and will be defoliating soon to promote light to the lower branches. THERE ARE FIVE NODE LEVELS IN THAT PIC, I'm not even joking. She just does not want to stretch. Hopefully that changes with a bit of training and defoliation.
-LIGHTS FLIPPED-
Biscotti 2.0 is just not stretching well, however I managed to spread her branches as much as I could to guide them through their flowering stretch. Some fan leaves have been removed for airflow under the canopy, however I'm hoping she stretches better as pistils begin to produce.
-I am calling today day 1 of flower, as I decide this part of the schedule on the pistil growth and when they are 'established' within their growth, before spurting out more and spreading.-
Biscotti 2.0 has begun to stretch a little, however she is showing such heavy Indica growth. I've defoliated what I could, without affecting the plant's overall growth, and it honestly doesn't look like I've done anything at all.
I've been jokingly referring to her as Spinach 2.0 because, well, look at her! I've heard of 100% Indica growths, but she is somehow 420% Indica. Not showing signs of immediate stress, apart from leaves trying to interlock.
-WEEK START FROM 12/12, PICS FROM 13/12-
Biscotti 2.0 is doing a bit better, and stretching ever so slowly. Her bud structure seems decent for a lower yielder, and I am considering putting something under her pot to raise her a bit. Even though she doesn't seem to mind where she is at right now. I will monitor the growth and take it from there.
Underneath the canopy there isn't much foliage, most of that has been snipped some time ago, so what you see is just a crowded top. Any more trimming of these leaves may stunt the plant, and I cannot afford to have her mature late.
I'm not too worried now, however. She will make it and I'm looking forward to the quality of product regardless of yield.
-WEEK STARTED ON 19/12 / PICS FROM 20/12-
Biscotti 2.0 is looking much better. I did not want to trim too much from the top, however the bottom has had the bottom third removed some time ago. It may not look like it, however light is reaching through the gaps and the IR in this light has allowed for the lower growths to continue thriving as they should. This allowed me to decide to keep a majority of top growth, with some leaves removed for light to get to the tops of all main cola sites (there are 9-10 at more or less canopy level, with some not pictured).
She has the least smell out of all of them, however I expect this to change in time, especially once she gets her Potassium and Phosphorous spikes with her feed next week.
-WEEK STARTED 26/12 PICS FROM SAME DAY-
She is stretching better into flower, and with some leaves periodically removed the lower growths are catching up without much deficit.
I'm finally looking forward to her, rather than writing her off as weird genetics.
-WEEK STARTED ON 02/01 - PICS FROM 03/01-
Biscotti 2.0 is coming along well, she is showing decent flower growth right now and has 8 node sites at canopy level (all of them are not in the picture).
-WEEK STARTED 09/01, PICS FROM 10/01-
Biscotti 2.0 is really starting to come into her own. Her flower cycle, judging by the pistils, may be longer than expected. I'm keeping an eye on the trichomes, and pistil colour over the next few weeks.
Her smell is developing as a very biscuity fragrance. I've taken a taster, by wiping some resin from lower nugs onto a spliff, and she seems to be coming along nicely yet her terpenes need time to develop fully.
