copy/paste disclaimer: I started these diaries a bit late, and in order to enter into the competitions I'm starting them as single strain diaries to be eligible (as the note states when creating new diaries). Week two may come early, within the next few days for some, however from then on it would be as consistent to the day as possible. END OF DISCLAIMER.
I've been slowly becoming a fan of banana terps, and the description of this reminded me of the effects a nice Purple Kush used to have back in the day. I like the idea of breeding a cultivar for the experience of the smoke itself, not just potency or terpenes. It's a small aspect, such as having a 'velvety smoke', however I'm intrigued to see how far T.H.Seeds have come with their efforts.
-start of week 2-
Her initial growth is not as 'perfect' as I would like, however this may be largely due to the humidity being higher initially to compensate for the late germination of Biscotti 2.0
She hasn't shown any worrying signs and her new growth is looking stellar from this angle :)
-should have been updated on Friday, pics from then-
So, again, blimmin' short internodal gaps. I've raised the light since, and they should have a good stretch going by the next update. I've placed air intake directed at the top of the canopy, but angled so it hopefully doesn't cause and wind-burn (being rather cautious about this).
The light's been raised by height and a bit of power. Right now the light is running at 70% power, and I'll be gradually increasing this as with the last grow. I find keeping an eye on the serrations lets me know if the intensity is too much (until I can afford a PAR meter), and looking at these I have a feeling I can increase the power or lower the lights a bit. The only issue with this would be the internodal gaps, so I've had to resort to forcing a stretch for now (only downside is the leaves won't look very happy for a day, however they're already slowly bouncing back).
-LIGHTS FLIPPED-
She's looking very good, and I'm rather happy with her growth so far. I'm hoping for a good stretch, and with 8 main branches noticeable and the two lowest popping through with the light they're receiving I have no worries about her right now.
-I am calling today day 1 of flower, as I decide this part of the schedule on the pistil growth and when they are 'established' within their growth, before spurting out more and spreading.-
Purple Banana Cream is doing well, however for some reason I'm wary of her. She is growing rather well, and has eight main branches to work with, however I may need to strip more leaves for better penetration.
-WEEK START FROM 12/12, PICS FROM 13/12-
She's doing rather well, and there are no complaints. She's been 'praying' a fair bit, so I can only deduce that she is happy. I'm hoping for a decent yield from her.
-WEEK STARTED ON 19/12 / PICS FROM 20/12-
Purple Banana Cream is doing rather well. She is continuing to stretch, and the slow down in this has come about later than expected.
Her pistils have begun to brown earlier than expected, and overall her growth is rather quick. Her calyxes have already begun to swell, however her trichomes are still premature and she still has a long way to go in terms of overall flower growth. Usually this would be a sign of hermaphroditism, however nothing has been noticed and I have checked with a jeweller's loupe as well.
Given her described flowering time, I can only presume that she will continue to chunk out considerably. I am hoping my predictions are correct, and I will end up with rather large and bulbous colas.
Aroma wise, she smells rather sweet. Almost like a sweet banana already, which is strange to me since I'm familiar with banana terpenes beginning with a sort of spice before developing further. She is immediately sweet, and very pleasing to the nose. There are 10 main colas since this picture was taken, within canopy height. I am very much looking forward to seeing how much weight she is able to gain in her flowers.
-WEEK STARTED 26/12 PICS FROM SAME DAY-
Purple Banana Cream is smelling so lovely, and she is incredibly frosty already despite at least a month left to go. Her leaves are turning purple from the edges (living up to her name), with the shade being on the lighter side - I'm very happy with her appearance so far.
I'm expecting her lower nug structures to build into long colas, however this is just a prediction based on what I see. Fingers crossed the rest of the grow goes well, since I'm looking forward to some colourful flower come harvest time.
All 10 tops have reached canopy height without bother.
-WEEK STARTED ON 02/01 - PICS FROM 03/01-
Purple Banana Cream is just looking phenomenal. All 10 of her nodes have reached canopy height, and the flowers continue to expand each day. She has been getting rather purple tips and edges, which adds a real appeal alongside the absolute frost that is already developing.
She is only 35 Days into flower as of writing this, and I am very eager to see how she develops in the next few weeks (as she is at least 3-4 weeks away from harvest).
-WEEK STARTED 09/01, PICS FROM 10/01-
My gosh, where to even begin?
All ten tops are at canopy height, her colours are immaculately stunning, her trichome production is just bursting all over, her calyxes just keep swelling with frost, and her resin production is just through the roof.
I'm not expecting a great yield, despite what I have written. Largely because I do not wish to get my hopes up: she looks absolutely amazing. Her smell is like very sweet red grapes. I have wiped some resin of hers onto a spliff, and the taste overpowered everything that was rolled within. Very strong, gassy, sweet, and when burning off the paper it provides an incredible jet-fuel smell that straight up punches the inner nostrils.
The description of this strain, on the breeder's page, is spot on so far. This is definitely what I like to see, a strain so stable that it matches the description throughout the grow. This has been an absolutely brilliant first try with T.H.Seeds, and I will definitely be looking at their catalogue for the future.
If I haven't made it obvious already: I am incredibly excited for this strain, and pictures (as beautiful as they are) simply do not do this justice. It's an absolute treat for my nose every time I open my tent.
