Started my first Deep Water Culture grow a week ago, also first try of Charlotte´s Angel and really curious about this supposedly High CBD and very Low THC strain from Dutch Passion. I have a simple setup you can see in the photos too, a 10L bubble bucket with non hydro-fixed hydrograins so I had to tweek the water a bit since I notice they push the PH a bit upwards. My tap water is also close to Ph 8 so I used Hydrochloric Acid to get it to 5.5 with nutes. Might try a batch of rain water for next water/nute change which is around 5.7.
Will also be adding Co2 later, I´m using simple but functioning meters for water temp, Ph, humidity and air temp.
The light is a chinese Ebay 100 bucks COB Led light full spectrum that I used on one soil grow before, supposed to be 1500w and unsure about that but bright as hell and definately full spectrum. The soil grown OG Kush loved it.
The plant seems ok for now and the first roots just shot out into the bubbly water, fun to see how it will do!
Growing well: 15 cm high 25 cm wide and fimmed today after 4th node and picked bottom leaves and pop, last week I put the bucket on a a 10 dollars notebook fan that takes water down 2C so now 21C. Moved to new grow tent today and 600w Cooltube HPS.
Everything going fine, plant almost doubled in height in one week. added B-52 nutes when changing water/nutes today.
Moving to a ventilated grow tent that I just mounted later this week inclding a 600w Hps Cooltube so interesting how that
might affect growth this week 4.
Well she is in flower for sure since last week, wee early I think and far from the 8 weeks of veg Dutch Passion claims. Talked to them about it and they think it´s early too but plant is still growing a lot and I´m sure it´s going to be great though I hoped for one more Fim before bloom.
Stretch seems over but the buds are building up. the soil grown sister is doing really well too.
Can´t keep water temp down where I want it so running 2 ppm calcium hypochlorite every 4 days to keep
the dreaded root rot out. Ph controlled to 5.8 via AN Micro and a ml of hydrochloric acid.
This first try at hydroponics DWC has not worked great but lessons learned, I think mainly there´s been too much stress because of changes in temperature both in air and water. Maybe some
high nute levels too plus I changed from Led to HID when flowering started. Everything went well during veg but then the flowering sort of came to a halt, the pistil stigmas died
quite soon and not much has happened the last couple of weeks. The soil sister looks much healthier and will do better, bigger main cola and lots of buds with basically the
same nutes. A few weeks I will give it before the chip chop but the Dwc lady feels a bit shellshocked.
