I've held on to a batch of Mexican Landrace seeds from 1978 and decided this year to try a grow. There were only 5 viable non feminized seeds remaining. This stuff was grown in Mexico and sold as "Red Bud". Likely grown in 1976 or 77, it arrived in my world in 1978 as a compressed brick. But for the first time the flower was distinctly red, not the dead gold from Columbia I'd grown use to smoking. I remember the seeds overwhelmed the flower, like a lot of Pot from the time, and I used a Record Album Cover to separate the seeds. By my next purchases I had found Sensi "Rainbow" imported from Hawaii and left the old stuff behind. Until today. So here we go, hoping I can get a female to germinate 😁
The one sprouted vintage '78 plant is still hanging in but still precarious. Keeping a good breeze on it to strengthen it up. There are still 20 odd seeds in wet heated paper towel that haven't germinated. I checked one seed. The outer shell is very hard but there was a live kernal on the inside. So I'll let sit til they spout or rot. 😁
It was a little touch and go at the start of the week but the one seedling is finally supporting itself and is now looking robust. No water, no nutes since going in the pot. Still hoping for another to pop and this one to be female. 😁
The one plant is really looking strong and is hopefully female. In the meantime I started another whole batch of seeds - hope something comes through. 😁
Well unfortunately no more seeds have popped. And the one remaining plant could't handle the stress of being topped along with cold nights and is now flowering. On the plus side it was female 😁
I let this plant dry out totally before watering and it now looks like its caught on again with the flowers getting visibly larger. PH adjusted water and no nutes looks like it done the trick. Its looking good and has a long way to go so I think it might make it outside for the finish. 😁
So pleased how these flowers have filled in and the 2 main tops are fairly dense as well. Another couple weeks and outside it goes until the end. I'll have ro take a flower to smoke when it hits its peak. 😁
