Hello everyone, this is my first run here and my third run in my young life, knowing that I am a beginner with a little less than a year of growing (the first seed in my life was a Purple Punch :D).
To begin with, I am in a cellar with a 100x100x180h tent with carbon filter + 205CFM extractor connected to a controller (Mars Hydro).
I started with an old reflector and old MH/HPS bulbs recovered from a friend who had already been used a few years ago, but I recently invested in an LED (F.O.G BLACK SERIES 320W with UV/IR bar 15W). This is my first session with an LED.
Then, as for the substrate, I stuck with the Biobizz lightmix that I had left for growth. I am thinking of repotting before flowering in Plagron Batmix which I still have in stock. For fertilizer, I have half of the bottles from the Biobizz selection left (Root-juice, Bio-grow, Bio-Bloom, Top-max, Acti-vera and Calmag) combined with very hard tap water (ph 7.8 ). I draw water 24/48 hours in advance from my tap into bottles and I do not regulate the pH or EC.
To finish with the best for the end, the genetics, I launched 3 seeds of Forbidden Fruit from Growbarato and 3 seeds of Orange Velvet Underground RBX from Ethos genetics this Saturday March 2 at 2 p.m. I started with 24 hours in a glass of water, then I put them in the ground the next day a little over 24 hours later.
Before talking about the launch of this session, I also wanted to clarify one point; I don't yet live where I farm, so I'm quite restricted and I can only go there a maximum of once a day around 4-6 p.m. depending on the day and time I finish my work. Having a little more time on the weekend, I try to do all the long tasks and maintenance there during that time.
I started the 18/6 cycle on Sunday March 5 at 4 p.m. under the F.O.G 320w dimmed to 25%. Climate was 16° the first night (12° in my cellar), quickly adjusted the next day to around 21-22° for arround 65%RH. DLI set to 15 for germination (LED at approximately 60cm). I directly connected the UV/IR bar set like the LED in 18/6 cycle. The cycle starts at 4 p.m. and ends at 10 a.m. I saw the first seed come out this Tuesday, and Thursday all the young seedlings were out!🙏
First week of growth, so far so good!🙏
All of them are doing really great, I stopped the spray to water them, now I give them a bit more than 100ml of dechlorinated tap water per watering. I wait until the soil is dry before watering again.
Nothing particular to report during this week, I continue to water when the pot is completely dry with around 15% of the volume of the pot.
I repotted them on the 14th day in 1 gallon pots, I now water with 500ml per pot once every 3 days.
I also tagged all my plants to be able to recognize the different phenos when I will smoke the plants (I hope 🙏)
The plants have recovered well from their repotting. I am thinking of starting the growth fertilizer at the next watering. A topping is also planned for the end of this week.
I started watering with nutrients on day 21, always with the same amount (500ml) with the same frequency, 3-4 days between each watering, depending on how the soil looks. Then on day 22 I switched the LED to 50% of his power at 60cm of the plants. Now they are receiving around 600-670 PPFD. I topped them on the 5th node at the end of week 4.
Still running the same plan, they are recovering well from topping, but the development is a bit slow, maybe because of my temperature that I don't want to spend money to increase it for now... I also removed the humidifer, it was not needed as I have lower temps, the VPD is fine without it and just did a small defoliation (removed 2 fan leaves per plant)
Apart from that I am impressed with the difference in plant structure between the MH bulb vs LED for growth 🤯. I notice that under LED, the plants are much stockier, the space between the nodes is super short compared to growing under a classic bulb. I don't know if genetics have a big part to play on this point but I've never had such compact plants at this stage!
Nothing much to say on this week, I plan to repot them on next week for some 16L pots filled with Plagron Batmix soil. I will give them 1 or 2 watering and then I will flip them to flowering stage. 🙏
I feel the grow is a bit slow but all the plants are looking healthy, I don't really know what to expect when the stretch will happen...
Today is Wednesday 24/04, and it's been 45 days since I counted the first day! Tomorrow will be the 4th day after I watered them, I will repot them and give them a nice 2l watering. I will let them few days in the new pot before switching to flowering stage.
Update on Saturday, the repot went fine, the girls were almost all thirsty because of their 4 days without any feed. Now they got 2l per pot + 1ml/l of Calmag. I'll keep this schedule until at least post stretch. 😎
Today is Monday 29th, the first day of week 8 😮
I did an aggressive defoliation on each plant and I did LST on the 2 main branches that were going too high. Now they are at the same level than the secondary branches. I only watered with 1l of water per pot since it was not perfectly dry enough.
I will let them few days to recover from this stress and I will start the 12/12 cycle maybe at the end of this week. 🙏
Later update, they did recover well and I did start the 12/12 cycle on the Sunday 5th of May, the LED is still at 50% and I have 700 to 600 PPFD on the canopy. I watered them with 1.5l of water per pot + 1ml/l of Cal-mag, it was 6 days since they got any water but they were drinking less since the aggressive defoliation. I also removed the LST that I made during the vegetative stage to allow them to have a nice stretch 😃
I felt the first week of stretch was kinda slow but I was not ready for what will happen after 😂
I only water when the pot is dry and weight light, so I only watered once on this week, on the 4th day of this week. Still 1.5l per pot + 1ml/l of Calmag. I don't measure pH nor EC, but I know the PH from my tap water is pretty high and around 7.8 but I never had any issues with the pH for now 🙏
They really stretched on the second week, they also made a lot of leaves, especially larger leaves compared to the vegetative stage !
I am really happy because I feel all the plants are healthy and I don't see any problems so far ! 😍
2 watering on this week, I now give them 2l of water per pot wit still 1ml/l of Cam-mag. PPFD set around 800-900 on the canopy.
What I see is wonderful 😍
What a huge stretch for the Forbidden Fruit ! The 3rd pheno was the smallest before switching to 12/12, now she doesn't want to stop climbing 😆 The pheno 1 is also similar to the pheno 3, and the pheno 2 is a bit smaller.
The Orange Velvet Underground are doing well, I personally prefer their homogeneous structure over the Forbidden Fruit. Pheno 1 is the tallest with really nice sativa/hybrid type of leaves, pheno 2 & 3 are more compact with also some nice leaves, more indica/hybrid looking.
Smell is still a bit weak on the tent, I still can't distinguish any dominant smell or terpene.
I am still watering with 2l per pot with 1ml/l of Cal-Mag. On this week, they drank more so I am watering every 3 days now. I did the last watering with a bit of nutrients since it's been now more than 4 weeks that I repotted them with the Plagron Batmix.
Light is sending around 1000 to 600 PPFD to the canopy, the Forbidden Fruit that climbed are taking more PPFD than the OVU.
