Plant was looking rough earlier this week. I haven't given it any nutrients since it has been planted other than what was provided from my soil(Fox Far Ocean Forest). I gave it some organic nutrients and today it's looking great.
I also reduced the fan time that was on the plant. I was running a fan 27/7 about 1' away from the plant. I reduced it to 2 minutes on 5 minutes off.
Removed the automatic watering tool I put into the plant. Not sure if this was helping it.
Growth has sped up and the lower leaves don't seem to be dying anymore.
Jan 9, 2019 update
I've added a bunch of older pictures of her since I missed week 1-5.
Put a humidifier in the room. Plant seems to love it. The room went from ~24% humidity to 57%. It has started to grow much faster since I've added it. I cleaned it up today. I'll add pictures later.
Planning to put her into bloom soon. I added another light, recommendation from mother-in-law. I also cleaned it up a lot. Took a ton of fan leaves off. I'm giving it 2 gallons of spring water and going to give it 48 hours of light, then go 12/12. Amidoingitright??
On Monday this week I turned the lights off at 9pm. I didn't turn them back on until Thursday at 9am to put this thing into bloom. Hopefully 60 hours of darkness wasn't too much.
I'm going to give it Bloom Nutrients today. I've been giving it regular water for the past week.
I put a weak T5 grow light into the room with a more powerful LED light. Is this going to have any negative affect on my grow? Any feedback is appreciated. 😊
Wednesday evening update(Nov 14):
Checked the canopy size:
12"x13"
Height:
17"
Last check she was 13". I don't recall the last time I checked the height.
I took 2 clones from this plant. I've never taken clones before, so I hope it works.
Sunday night I gave her a full gallon of water for the first time. It also included the full recommended dose of nutrients.
Monday night I defoliated a quite a bit. I removed the lower weak looking branches from the plant as well.
Her canopy has ready spread out this week.
Length:18"
Width: 16"
Plant seems really happy and she is starting to create a ton of pistils. She's finally starting to show that she's going into bloom. It's hard to control the main cola. I want to bend it over, but I'm afraid of doing damage to the plant.
I started using lemon juice this week instead of the ph down chemical that I had before. She should be fully organic now.
She is looking great this week. I added a 2nd screen in to help control it. Canopy is now touching one side of the tent wall.
Canopy size:
21"x20"
I added about 3" of soil to the top of the plant. The roots were starting to show.
I replaced the fan that stopped working in the room this week. I also raised the fan to be level with the canopy. There was a bit of dew starting to build up on leaves. Hopefully this . I need to lower humidity maybe, Room is sitting around ~65%humidity.
Crystals are starting to form on the buds and fan leaves nearby. Buds are starting to get larger, and seem to be literally everywhere.
Canopy size:
24x24"
I struggle with the humidity in the room after watering. It sits at about 70% for about 3 days after watering. I think that is just too high.
Some of the pistils on the buds are starting to turn brown//orange. Hopefully it should be doing this at this stage in its life.
I took a ton of pictures this week. This plant is beautiful! The amount of crystals that she has produced in the last week is crazy. Overall the plant does't seem to be stretching much at all, and I hope that it doesn't seem too be too small.Considering this is a 10 week flower, I'm hoping that it should be a bit smaller than other plants that i'm seeing on here.
The smell has really increased this week. Just entering the room now you know that someone is growing in there. I do have a carbon filter going, but the smell seems to be coming more from the walls of the tent. Since this is my first grow, everything here is pretty cheap. Eventually I’ll upgrade to higher quality items.
I’m worrying that I’m watering wrong. Each week I water twice. Once with nutrients and once later in the week with just water. 4 liters of water each time. And giving all of the nutrients in that one feeding of 4l of water. Any feedback on if this is ok or if this is causing any harm to the plant would be appreciated.
I also seemed to solve the really high humidity issue this week. When watering in the past I wasn’t pouring it into the soil properly, and it was draining off to the side of the container, it would all run off and pool behind the plant and I wouldn’t realize. This week I took more time when watering and all water seems to have gone into the soil. Following the watering the humidity only seemed to get up to 63%. Previously it was around 74% for about 3 days. I think this is a win.
Goal harvest date is January 14th. Can’t wait!
Nothing too wild happened this week. I trimmed her up a bit today before taking pictures, she’s looking good. Doesn’t seem like much is really going on with the plant, but the buds do seem to be getting bigger.
While trimming today, I think I found a spider in the leaves I removed. Should I be worried about this? It’s either eating insects or it’s just in there right? Hopefully there are no bugs for this thing to eat.
4 more weeks of flower.
Wednesday update:
Had an issue. Seems my timers stopped working. Light and filters/fans. Not sure when it happened, but I've reset lights to the normal time setting. Hope this doesn't affect her
beginning of week 7 of flower:
This week was really tough for this plant. 2 times the power outlet seemed to have some issue. I think it’s a physical hardware issue inside the wall. I’ve ran the extension cord from another location in the room, and haven’t had any issues since.
Considering she only got about 5 hours of light in a 48 hour span, I feel she’s looking pretty good.
The smell of the plant is really getting strong. When I first open the tent there’s an almost overwhelming citrus smell in the air. I really enjoy it.
Beginning of week 8 of flower.
This week I tossed a different light into the tent to be able to see what it really looks like. I think she’s looking really good. Today I gave her the last feeding before harvest. Regular water from here on out.
The plant doesn’t seem to be doing anything at all. I don’t notice much difference, but I am looking at it each day, so it will be harder for me to notice.
I'm receiving a dehumidifier today. This will help me really control the humidity in here.
Beginning of week 9(Flower):
Plant still isn’t doing much, but she does look damn good. I love this plant.
The entire apartment seems to smell when walking in. I realized I may have had my carbon filter setup wrong. I was pulling air from the grow tent without the filter inside, it would push the air out of the fan and through another duct and then finally into the carbon filter. I feel a lot of the smelly air was escaping this way. Hopefully this makes a difference.
I took a clipping of a sugar leaf today and put it under my 60x microscope. This is my first time really checking on the trichomes, so I could be completely off, but it seems that 10% of the trichomes turned amber. I should be waiting for 30% amber before I harvest this? 2 more weeks I think? I’ll continue to check each week. Maybe I’ll try to get a check mid-week sometime.
It has been 1 week now since I’ve given her nutrients, still looking really healthy.
In the final 2 weeks of bloom, when giving no nutrients, should fan leaves show signs of what looks like nutrient deficiency? Not happening on all fan leaves but maybe about 10%
Beginning of week 10(Bloom):
Not much to mention this week. The fade is starting to show more.
Really looking forward to harvesting this. Doing my research now on what I need to do for a successful harvest.
Added in a family photo😀
I tried a popcorn bud as my first smoke of the day. It wasn't harsh at all. The high was very mellow. Hopefully with more curing it will have a stronger high.
January 27 update:
I think I dried the bud too fast. I hung it in my grow room with my vent fan running 2 minutes on 3 minutes off. I think that was too much air movement for it to dry slowly. We'll change that next time.
The buds have been super dry, but not to the point that they explode when squeezed. Last night I added Boveda humidity control packs. They seem to have added some moisture to my buds, which I wanted. They seem perfect now. I've smoked some of it and I'm amazed at how smooth it is, I can't recall having a bud that has smoked this nicely in a long time...
The high still seems very mellow. Needs curing.
Feb 7 update:
The high is amazing, the bud isn't harsh at all... I'm blown away that I grew this. I had a few friends try it and they were also impressed. I'm very happy with the results. Looking forward to next harvest!😀
Overall I'm very happy with this grow. There were a lot of small buds, and I realize with more skill as a grower I'll train my plants properly and defoliate the lower leaves and branches before they develop into buds. It took me about 5 hours to trim this entire plant down, and I feel a lot of that was because of all of the small buds. Hopefully the only real loss on these small buds is bag appeal. Really this is all for myself so I don't care if the buds are small... this round 😜
The smell in my apartment while harvesting was so nice. It smelled like super sweet citrus weed... beautiful.
I didn't get as much fade as I expected leading up to harvest. I've been too timid with watering and was afraid to give this plant a good flush. Hopefully since she was fully organic it should still taste fine.
I won't be growing a single plant in a 10 gallon bucket for a while, I feel this was just too big for an inexperienced grower. It made watering this thing difficult.
I'll post more updates once this fully dries and cures for a while.
Thanks for following my grow if you have. I had a blast growing this girl and I'll continue to grow this strain for a while.000
Congratulations on an amazing first harvest. And what a beautiful smelling strain for your first grow, super silver haze is delightful.
What are you planning on growing next?
Thanks :) I have 2 more super silver haze clones growing right now. In about a week(once this harvest is out of my grow tent) I'm putting another girl into bloom.I plan to grow this stain for a while until I can get some really nice yields and smoke. Thanks for checking out my grow. Have a good one. :)
Beautiful pistils. Your grow looks like it could have a great harvest. Good luck. I put lump charcoal in a 6" container to help with humidity and odor.
Looking good man ! Nice start to your flowers ! Sending your ladies lots of positive vibes so they pass the finish line nice and healthy ! :D <3
-Happy Growing!
