started out fine i'm super stoked to try and figure out which strains these 2 plants are. i have 2 mix pack autos going and 1 purple punch, 1 banana purple punch. i only flower 2 at a time because i only have 250 watts of light between the 2 lights. i stagger the start day a few weeks apart at least so i can try to start a perpetual grow cycle and not run out of smoke for me and my girl. we would love to be 100% self sufficient to save more $$$. this is my 2nd grow i did only 1 plant last time because i only had a 2x2x5 tent and 100watt light. i bought a 4x2x5 and another 150w light and i hang one sideways to use as supplemental lighting.
very smooth start for 1 and okay start for the other, it was very C shaped when it first came out and i didn't know why. it also was very limp for awhile so i used the mushroom statue to help keep it up for a day or 2. she did bounce back fine and get nice and sturdy tho
still no lst yet, i moved the lights from one side to the other so we could walk by the tent without being blinded by the sideways light. i also swapped the mix packs and the bigger punch's because i realized the ones going into flower needed the 2nd lamp closer to them more than the small vegging plants.
really happy to see them doing well. bounced back after the weak stem start on the 1. really can't wait to compare the smells / looks / tastes to figure out which strain these are :) . the one looks like northern lights so far but clearly its just a very very wild guestimate. cant believe there is a 3way split on the one spot. on the other plant there is a bud coming out of the stem from way under where the cotylons were XD its wild.
pretty bummed out the other 2 plants that are flowering in the same tent as these mixed autos both might have hermed on me so i had to chop them early. the 2 mixed autos are looking a little droopy / sad so i really hope they didn't get pollinated. we went on a trip to colorado this week and i didnt have anyone to watch the plants or water them but i figured they would be fine being as we were only gone 3.5 days. well when i got back they looked fine and i only had enough water for the mixed pack plants. i waited until morning for the banana pp and regular purple punch and then they both started feeling almost crunchy on top so i did some investigating and i found a few nanners . i chopped right away and am praying for the best. one of these has some copperish hue to the tips on the newer growth? im not sure what that means im seeing maybe too much iron? i really need to calibrate my ph pen so i can pay more attention to it. i have been getting disttilled water jugs so its usually at 7 and im assuming the nutrients bring it down some but i rarely check because i never trust if the pen is on or not lol. thinking about going organic to avoid dealing with ph at all.
Did some small lst. Just tying down the outside branches and moving them to the side to allow optimal light to as many budsites as possible. Added tiger bloom in a very small amount. I put 2ml in 1 gallon and gave half to each plant. Did 1 gallon for each with 2-3ml and 3-5ml the feed after that. I also added some seaweed powder as well to boost potash now that flowering is fully setting in strong. They are much bigger than the last two plants so I am happy so far :) the only difference was better watering practice and put half ocean forest in the bottom + extra worm castings rather than 100% happy frog like the first 3 plants I grew. No idea what strains these are yet but I’m stoked to see some clues soon !!
Did some lst on one of the taller main colas because I started 2 more and needed the smaller light for them. I turned my 150w Marshydro the way it normally goes so it can cover both plants and tried to get an even top canopy for both plants to get the most out of the lamp. I think the 1 is gorilla zkittlez I was thinking stardawg at first but the leaves are very similar to the gorillaz. I keep worrying about giving higher doses of nutrients because it looks like I burned them a little bit feeding twice in 1 week. It’s hard to tell the difference between defeciency and burn sometimes which is making me want to switch to organic lol. The leafy one is starting to bud finally it seemed like even after pre flower was in full bloom it was still pushing out too many Leaves and almost no trichomes compared to the zkittlez. I’m thinking that one may be an afghan kush or something. It was really woody smelling hazelnut almost and now I’m getting some pine hints now that the buds seem to be getting back on track
This week I was wondering why the tops looked funny but it looks burned so I chopped the top cola off the afgan kush. It was too crispy and all the holes from the dead pistils made me think it Hermed and those were all seeds. Found some little white maybe beginning of seeds but not sure because it wasn’t many. I tried snipping a sugar leaf a few weeks back and accidentally snipped the bud a little so I might have caused that bud to stress. I’m almost done so I’m just hoping the others in the tent don’t get affected if it pollinated itself at all. I might chop the top of the zkittlez off too and let the bottoms finish off for a week or two longer when I drop the lights down some. For no I just tied the big cola to the side. I need to get a par reader and get on my Ppm meter too because so far I’ve grown 3 plants without those and just guessing based on the packaging lol. I feel like it’s been relatively smooth for the circumstances tho and happy that I could at least smoke all of them so far.
for 420 sale i bought a new 150w mars hydro e 1500. its not a huge improvement over the spiderfarmer 100w but it is better, and it will help fill the other side of my tent better. now i feel more comfortable growing 4 plants at a time. About to chop the zkittlez main cola in a couple days and let the bottoms finish for. Few days. The afghan kush is finally beefing up a little. I’ll be happy to get 2 oz off it but doubtful. Zkittlez definitely going to be at least 2-3oz which I could do way better, but for how little experience I have, I’m happy. It’s better than my last plant for sure. I think one of the banana purple punch I started is dying because the cotylon or whatever gashed the stem when it sprouted somehow and it was looking fine until I went to snip it off yesterday. Now the little girl is dark and laying on her side. Oh well. I’m about to have 4 flowering which is the legal limit where I am anyways so maybe that’s a good thing. I do need to order more seeds now tho I only have 2 bloody skunk and 1 gorilla cookies left after these are done.
This is just for the gorilla zkittlez so far I will probably try to put all 5 on here but started 2 about 45 days apart from each other and the 5th seed about 3 weeks after the 2nd round. The 5th seed died from transplant shock (won’t be transplanting autos anymore) but the 2nd round of 2 plants just started flowering. I got 85 grams from the zkittlez and 60 grams from the afghan kush after drying. Not great but I’m happy it’s smokeable and smells/ tastes good. starting 2 bloody skunk today (5/11) because the gorilla cookies never germinated unfortunately :( . all out of seeds now so i will be maknig an order this week. still have 2 more strains to figure out when flowering kicks in more tho so that will be my fun for the next 1-2 months lol
