Germinated in two days. Was a bit cold so I tried to heat them a little and they exploded.
No. 1 showed up after just 2 days in the soil, No. 2 after 3 days.
Finally got a tent for them. Germination however worked well without. Now need to check how temp and humidity are going to develop. Current state seems to be around 27.4 Celsius at 55%. Not perfect but will probably not kill them either 😅
No fertilizer yet, since they're not quite Up for that according to what I learned about growing.
Mild fertilization as recommended by biobizz will now be applied. Also inserted some of these Blumat clay cones (3 per plant) to mitigate the panic of them running dry 😬
Since this is my very first grow, I'll follow the recommendation to not overdo it and rather feed a little less fertilizer than suggested.
I currently think of ways to automatically adjust humidity and temperature automatically to keep the best possible VPD.
Week #3 officially started...
Sunday - Week 3 is coming to an end and I think it's time to talk about genetics.
Regardless of the obviously different conditions it's hard to believe that these are the same plants. Number 2 however was different from the start:
- instead of growing one root when she popped, it grew a root with two ends
- the whole plant was turning counterclockwise and later on clockwise
- the leaves were huge from the start and looked crumbled even before any fertilizer came into play
- it's clear now - we got three main stems istead of just one
- first pre-flowers are showing on day 17 while #1 is growing more, let's say, coordinated
Overall they are both in turbo mode now and I stopped feeding them with just a dripper. Both are showing signs of "sunburn" since I was too reluctant to hang the light higher (growth really exploded in the past days) OR a Potassium deficiency since I maybe was a bit careful with nutrients recently and they're obviously getting eager to grow flowers now.
Let's see what concept prevails in yield and quality, Mutant Freak plant or Beauty Queen 😅
Week 4. Despite #2 showing pre-flowers, I guess we're still in veg.
Day 28, time for a recap of the week.
What initially looked like a Potassium deficiency, turned out to be a calmag problem. I kind of hate myself for speculating on the minerals in my tap water and causing the damage you see in the pics by letting it go on for days. There were days this week, the ladies grew by 7-10 cm what explains how wide spread the issue is. Glad it seems to be fixed now as everything that's growing completely new looks fine. Also they don't seems to mind that much since they're still growing af. Lesson learned D:
I'll keep up the slight overdose of calmag for one or two more feeding rounds and add Bio heaven and algamic to support their swift recovery.
I'm a bit concerned about their growth actually. There ist not much space left between the hangers of the LED and the roof. Less veg, more buds please :D
OK, escalation continues in week #6. #2 seems to be in a big hurry to get the job done while #1 is still stretching to flower.
As you see I had some size issues and decided trying to fit the 75 W Caluma spare LED in to compensate and provide more light for the buds.
The bleached tips issue continues but currently I don't care since obviously they don't really care either.
I guess my next grow will just be one plant ;)
I'll look out for leaves blocking light from "crucial spots" (aka the buds) and remove them. Will probably mainly #2 since she' s growing really dense.
As #2 seems to be ahead, I also feed her with the week 7 schedule from now.
EDIT 26.05., Sunday, time to wrap up the week.
As you can see things are getting out of hand a bit.
While #2 wants to get the job done, #1 has done an incredible stretch before growing the final buds. As of today I estimate her main Cola at around 120 cm which is super impressive.
I already sind some dirty fix to increase the available space below the LED but she keeps playing by her own rules. It will pay most likely when it comes to harvest though.
As this is my very first grow ever I still complain a bit about them challenging me that hard ;)
I really did not want to train them in any way but #1 forced me.
#2 is getting the full dose of fertilizer according to biobizz plan since the middle of last week. I consider her pretty much closer to harvest than #1.
A few words on water. The values I provide are referring to the intake fertilizer solution. While #1 is taking in 1,5 to 2 l per day, #2 has reduced her hunger to around 300 ml per day. I don't measure what they take in via Blumat but estimate it's 3-4 l per week.
