It was a bit cool where I live, but suddenly it grow hotter day by day. Still, awesome germination, my second Lemon Shing Silver Haze, both viable seeds. My standard pot mix, which I've been using for 14 months, it's third cycle, with not a lot of nutrients.
I had to spend the week away, so I'm missing a few pictures. I came back after 5 days and everything was OK! As usual, heat is a delicate issue where I live, but a can still manage.
After a while I came back to see this lady strong and with 3 complete pairs of leaves. The pot still had water, I want to see how much water it will drink daily this week, I'm expecting 32°C for high temperature here in town.
Still battling heat, trying to increase humidity using a humidifier, it also helps a little with the higher temperature.
04/05: The hot wheater is ending. The Plant is already feeling it, the chiller nights and the decrease in peak temperature at 2 PM have a relaxing effect on a quite heat stressed plant.
7/05 The heat wave is finally over and this girl noticed it. She actually grew 2,2cm from one day to the other and the leaves are way bigger, too.
Now that the plant grew bigger and I changed the vase, I started with organic fertilizers, weirdly, GrowDiaries do not allow me to add the nutrientes by weight, so, where it reads "ml/l" on solid fertilizer, you should read "grams".
End of another week. Plant is evolving as expected. This will be the first time I develop all branches from the same main knot, I believe it will decrease the veg
I think most people love when their plants are flowering and so do I, but I also love this fase, when I get the chance to understand it's phenology and even change it, with toppings, LST and defoliation. This weekend I will defoliate her again, not yet as aggressive as I like. LST probably starts this week.
Also, I will change the COB LED to a 65W LM301H that will carry her through all the flowering fase.
There was a slower development this week, consequence of all the stress I'm putting her through, the roots are probably developing quite nicely, and soon there will be a new potting
23/05 Probably, by the end of this week, I will top her again on both sides of the main-line. Defoliation is a must, and will happen on the 25th.
25/05 Topping came earlier then expected, so I too defoliated altogether... she's growing fast, so I already have the 11liters vase prepared, I believe 2 more weeks and she's flowering
Also, I propagated her by cutting of the top, it worked, so I'm thinking of either creating a diary for her or just put some pictures in this diary... I intent to start flowering stage on both at the same time, kept the small one in my balcony...
The week came with the changing of the vase, as predicted. It was my first time using this particular 3 liter vase and in the process I broke some roots. I thought it would have a bigger impact but this morning a woke up to see her a little bigger and with no sign of stress or damage, so I think nothing out of the ordinary happened. Probably last week of vegetation.
It took more than expected but the flowering period began on June 8th.
Since I broke one of the stems, there will be 7 top buds and one from the clone I made from the Topping.
First week of flowering went as expected. A little stretch, but not so much and increase in water demand.
This plant is very vigorous and responding well to organic fertilizer.
So, second week of flowering beginning with a a huge stretch. I was away for the last days, so I was surprised, kind of, to see how much she grew.
he week went on and, considering the drop in temperature in my town, the plant had a extraordinary development. Anxious to see what will be coming in the future.
Still predicting harvest for August 10th
This is the second time I grew this strain. The first time I made a mistake with the lamp to plant distance. In the end, it turned into the strongest and more flavory plant I have ever smoked, though it looked excessively fox-tailed. Most of my friends, to this day, also think it's the best weed they smoked. I was very proud, after all, besides the lamp mistake, it was all correct. So, based on that fertilising and watering regime, and with a little bit more experience, I began this grow and I could not be happier. The plant had a few issues with the heat wave in weeks 2 to 5, making her grow a bit slower, but after the drop in temperature, she began to develop as expected.
You will be able to see the changes week by week, and I believe that you will want to grow one of your own.
4th week of flowering beginning after the end of stretching fase. Everything going according to the plan.
There are lots of trichomes, still small but since it's a Lemon Shining Silver Haze, I expect them to grow a lot.
So, for some reason GrowDiaries wouldn't allow me to post and when it did, the information was updated all wrong, so I waited for a bit to post and, eventually, I lost track of those last few weeks. It will be hard to remember exactly what to say in each week, but I guess it's not impossible, so, let's go
This week of July was a good one, chill temperatures here in town, so this girl developed nicely! I had to take a trip of a few days, so there is a few days of pictures missing.
So, this week I also had to travel, so there will be a few days missing. Perhaps by that time I began to notice that this baby was not developing at her fullest. Lots, I mean, most of the pistils where already white and there were not many new flowers appearing. I'm no sure why was that, but I believe it may be the pH of the substrate being slightly alkaline, due to the organic phosphorous source, i.e. bone meal.
So, this was the week I noticed this girl would not yield the same as the other LSSH (which do not have a diary herself). Organic fertiliser always have a chance of going wrong. She does not show any sign of lack of nutrientes but this does not mean much. When it comes to the intense cellular division and expansion that occurs during cannabis flowering, it is easy for the plant to reach hidden hunger, even though there are enough nutrients in the substrate. Especially with organic phosphorous fertiliser. It was the first time it happened.
If you pay attention to the amount and size of flowers, it is noticeable that it was not a lack of potassium, something easily noticeable by the tip burns it the leaves, caused by my strategy of feeding her banana peel extract until the burn tip appears.
Next plant I'll not use lyme, focus on the bone meal and, maybe, a little lemon juice, very diluted, in the water before the transplant, not only for phosphorous, but also as a chelate for micronutrients.
I guess this week the bigger change was in smell. I mean, I keep my grow in a bedroom in the back of my apartment and I actually smelled her from the floor lobby... hell... I mean, I'm not really worried because you can't tell it is a cannabis plant by the far away smell I felt in the lobby. What is more noticeable is a lemony fresh smell, with notes of tangerine and, if you can believe, strawberry, so I believed my neighbours take it for some cleaning product, I don't know. Well... if you grow Lemon Shining Silver Haze it will happen... the other LSSH I grew had a much more intense smell.
Well, probably this is her last week. There might be a chance of me holding for another week for more than one reason, but mostly because I think she is a little late. A noticed that the first week of flowering took longer to show flowering signs, something I usually see quickly. And the stretch took a little more time than it usually does. So, by Thursday I'll be sure. Still, as you can see, the yield will not be that good, we can't win them all, can we? Nevertheless, it is a healthy plant, with awesome genetic material and I'm already anxious to grow the last seed I have, which will begin July 2025.
Also, I uploaded a pictures showing a light green structure. It seems to me like male flowers already opened, but no really. I dont know. The other LSSH had the same thing, developing close to the end, but there where no seeds at all.
