Weirdest thing, despite some of the seedlings dying, either due to heat or dampening off is that they are catching up to the Big Kush plants. One thing that I can't figure out is why some of them have their leaves twisting sideways. Minimal nutes where added this sunday so we'll see where it goes from here.

You asked why your leaves are turning sideways .. well, your plant is getting too much light or sun or your roots are struggling .. hence the plant is reducing the light exposure by reducing the surface area towards the light. It's a self protection thing .. quite normal but something is still wrong.

@@Simsalabim, Thanks. With the amount of bagseed I'm germinating and the areas I'm placing them, I'm hoping to get to the bottom of it soon. In the garden it's usually a choice between too much light or too little. But I'm putting up 10% shade cloth and changing the grow medium so we'll see how that goes with the next batch.

Hey @CityGrowZA! I definitely think your soil is letting you down! Even potting soil is not great. I'm also from SA. I'm using Freedom Farms soil I bought online and it's doing super well but here's what my buddy is using and he is getting great results from it, all available at Builders Warehouse or Plantland and all super cheap: 1 part Kraal Manure/Kraalmis 1 part Coco (brick) 1 part Perlite 1 cup bonemeal My buddies plants are huge for how old they are and dark green. Hope that helps man! Will be following your posts! Awesome!

@biird, Thanks for the tip! I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure what's going on. And I just bought the same Freedom Farms soil and seedling starter mix, too!! :( But I already have everything else aside from the Kraal Manure so I'll definitely try your mix it and see how it goes for the new batch I am trying sprouting right now. These ones I have somewhat given up on as I suspect they have root rot due to poor drainage and or dampening because of my lack of knowledge regarding sanitary environments. I'm using a drop of 50% hydrogen peroxide to start my new seeds this time and going to use some clean "pots" to begin to see what happens. Cheers for the follow (following you as well) and advice. I'm going to keep this journal running for these poor SOBs... for science.

I'm also using the Seagrow and Kelpak mix all at quarter strength and am liking the results. I started growing w biobizz grow and was not happy with the results .. even using quarter recommended strength, my plant leaf tips got burnt. Anyway, thumbs up for Seagrow and Kelpak.
