I put up a couple of bamboo stakes for Colombian Jack mid-week, defoliating two large fan leaves that didn’t look the greatest to make room for the ties.
When I got a closer look at her stem, everything started to make sense as to why she is so leafy: she has a particular mutation called fasciation, where the stem is flat and wide, and her apical growth is going to create an oblong cola.
@Hologram, after 21 years of growing, I never even tried it yet, but that comment made me chuckle 😆 Thanks for taking a peek at my grows. Followed to watch you stuff as well.
@gottagrowsometime, This is a completely different phenotype than the other 2 of this cultivar I have growing outside. This one has a mutation causing a lot of extra foliage, and energy spent growing apically due to a fasciated stem. Usually my plants start flowering outdoors anywhere from 1-3 weeks from now, and because of this particular mutation, I don't really want to alter her top at this stage in the game. Thanks for stopping by though!
