Plant was wimpy after germination, but once the fan leaves sprouted it seems to be doing much better.
Fan leaves are fat which apparently happens with Triploids so I think that's a good thing.
Unfortunately the thrips are all over this plant already. Going to spray it this week and put up another sticky trap.
Going to top this week or next once it has a chance to grow another 1-2 nodes taller. It needs to veg and stay
To fill the tent with one plant, I bent the main stalk over with plant ties. Plant seemed to respond well and quickly began growing upwards towards the light.
I'm about to leave town for 12 days, so just hoping the water reservoir is big enough, the pH controller does its thing and she survives until I'm back.
I lost internet the first day I was away and despaired that this plant would probably not make it. Came home after 12 days away to find this plant growing into the light and taller than anticipated! There was just BARELY enough water in the reservoir but otherwise the system seemed to be doing fine. I tucked every branch back down below the screen and flipped to 12/12 lighting.
I also moved the exhaust fan outside the tent to fit a new flower light - a HLG 260W. Hopefully the new light is more reliable, more fixable, and has a little more power.
It took 2-3 days to see any sign of flowering but now we've got clearly got some bud sites!
Somehow it looks like the leaves have gotten skinnier compared to early veg. Plants are stretching very quickly - I ended up taking the light off of its hanger to get it closer to the ceiling. Canopy cover looks very uniform so far, let's hope it stays that way!
Starting to get a faint smell but can't tell much about it yet.
Starting to fill out a little and buds are starting to fatten up. Leaflets are thin, but oh boy are there a lot of leaves, going to have to defoliate more as harvest gets closer for airflow.
Bud structure is really nice on this one so far, very uniform. New light also seems to be doing well. Starting to see some frost on the sugar leaves, hopefully that's a sign of things to come!
Buds starting to fatten up and get frosty. Heavy colas are starting to lean over so I had to add a second layer of netting.
Smell is not overpowering, but definitely pleasant - lots of lime and some berries with a hint of skunk.
Since I last posted I had some nute burn and some leaves yellowing. That seems to have slowed/stopped after I flushed the reservoir. Not entirely sure what caused it but I think these plants will make it through to harvest despite that.
Seeing some amber trichs on sugar leaves, and a mix of clear and cloudy on main colas. Going to wait another week or two to harvest to try to maximize yield. Fans are running 24h a day now to try to keep bud rot at bay and the air is nice and dry outside the tent so that should hopefully help.
Plants are starting to look like there close to harvest, but trichomes are still looking like a mix of cloudy & clear with only an occasional amber trich on the buds. Given that, I'm thinking one more week till harvest but will have to check the trichs along the way.
Definitely getting some foxtailing so turned down the light 2 clicks and leaving the window open during the day to keep the temps lower.
Leaves are definitely not great between spider mites and earlier nute deficiency but I think they're going to ride out the cycle ok.
Gave the plants a fresh batch of nutes which will definitely be the last one!
Very vigorous growth on this one, outdoors it could have been huge. Buds ended up being nice and frosty, and were very consistent across all colas.
Nice smell of lime while growing which matures into a mix of sweet, spicy, skunky and citrusy near the end.
I ran into some issues with nute burn, but that was because I let the EC creep up mid flower. Also ran into some foxtailing, but these plants were 6" from the light by the end so that's somewhat expected.
Harvested just the tops today - trichomes in the top buds were ~20% amber. Lower down trichs were a mix of clear and cloudy so left the bottom half of the plant. Hoping those ripen up with the extra light during the next week and maybe fatten up some as well.
Tops were very dense and frost coverage looked good. Not sure if it's the new light or the genetics but these buds were a lot less larfy than previous grows. Bud structure was rather annoying to trim - buds are right next to the stems and are hard to buck off without chopping the main stems.
I put 12 of the biggest/best tops in a DIY Cannatrol (wine fridge with a dehue) for drying, I'm curious to see how that experiment turns out. The rest of the tops I trimmed off fan leaves, chopped the tips off burnt sugar leaves, bucked the buds off, and fresh froze for making hash. I'm VERY curious to see how this one washes given that it's mixed THC, THCV, CBD and CBDV. Going to wash for full spectrum (45u-160u) and try to maximize yield. Since this will be low THC I'm looking forward to being able to hit fat, terpy dabs without getting 100% boinked.
Just got my hands on some GTR seeds and this strain looks great. 1:1:1:1 THC:THCv:CBD:CBDv
Currious how this all works out for you and what the end result will be.
