Last week was very warm and sunny with no rain. Therefore, it had to be watered well and watered twice a day. Both plants continue to grow in height although they are flowering, the side branches are getting stronger, no odour so far. Perhaps I should have used a larger pot after all, I had expected a maximum height of 150 cm, but if they continue to grow in flower like this, the foil tunnel will also be too small. They are vigorous, fast-growing plants. It will be exciting to see how they compare with all the other autoflowering plants. If September remains dry and sunny, I have a good chance of a good harvest. Passion #1 in pot 156 cm Passion #1 in polytunnel 146 cm

Is it necessary to defoliate plants growing outdoors in pots or in the garden soil? What I read about this is very contradictory.

There is no straight answer. It depends on the plant and your environment. Like asking if anti freeze is important in a car. If you are somewhere it gets below freezing, probably yes. If not, probably no. It all depends on the humidity and airflow. Plants are only at the pinnacle of evolution for the environment they evolved in. If you remove them from that climate and grow them elswhere, they may do terribly as they are not suited for that climate or environment. Like a polar bear trying to survive in the Sahara, pinnacle predator in the cold, but dead fast in the heat. We are now growing mostly polyhybrids bred for stable indoor climates and sometimes they need some help outside. You need to work out what is best for your environment.

As the temperatures drop, you’ve got the perfect setup to help your plants transition quickly into the flowering phase after those high temps. Fingers crossed that everything plays out well! 🌡️🌸
