Germination

Comfrey This one need 4 days for germination. It’s my first year growing cannabis. Cause I have good experiences in permaculture vegetable growing in my garden, I decided to do things similar. And now, after collecting some experience during my first grow, I will do things similar but different, too. This grow I will use field horsetail tee as the (l)only fertilizer till two weeks before the end + twice bokashi juice during vegetation. The charcoal compost is nearly two years old. During composting process I added fermented bokashi with citrus fruit peel, egg shells, oyster shells, fishbones and vegetable waste and some chicken manure, some bat guano, dolomite rock flour, too. This well rotted compost was way still to rich in nutrients for potting. So this second grow will be done with a mix of my charcoal compost and coco coir (~80/20). We‘ll see if this works better.

Comfrey After germination in the bathroom at 25 degrees and 95% humidity, the seedling moved to the balcony. Well protected with a simple glass bowl from rain and cold nights, the first week went by pretty quickly.

Comfrey It's raining and raining, clouds are hanging in the sky. The little plant is still thriving and feels somewhat good. Watering is not necessary, on rainy days and at night it is still covered with the glass bowl, ensuring air exchange.

Comfrey The substrate is soaked after heavy rains but still well-aerated. Vital little plant. It's stormy, it needed some support and got through this week without a nighttime glass roof over its head. It looks promising so far.

Comfrey The little plant is becoming a plant. So far, it's going well. The decision to mix 20% coconut fibers into the compost was the right one. This strain was a Spanish free seed donation from my chosen seed supplier. 😊 They included 5 seeds. In the first attempt, I wanted to germinate the seeds outside, but that didn't work at all. All four strains rotted underground. It was too cold and too wet.

Comfrey This week, the plant has stretched further and has grown really bushy. I started with LST and served horsetail tea. She liked both a lot.

Comfrey This week I had to stay on the ball; a crazy stretch made almost daily LST and a subtle defoliation necessary. To generate a nice yield for two, I decided to tie down all the plants vigorously due to the location of our balcony. I had two goals in mind. On one hand, we have a maximum of seven hours of direct sunlight here. With LST, I hope for an even flower formation and concentration of terpenes. On the other hand, our balcony is right in the village center with a lot of "foot traffic." The German cannabis law stipulates that cultivation must not be publicly visible. Without tying them down, you could see the ladies, though. The arrangement of the plants has also been done in such a way that a kind of sun trap is formed. Each plant, especially the flowers, gets the maximum possible sunlight. 🌞 Watering is now done in the mornings and evenings based on feel. Purple Punch Auto feels quite at home here. The pre-flowering looks promising.

Comfrey Purple Punch Auto is going full throttle. Crazy stretch, very thirsty. I noticed discolorations in the leaves. Chlorosis? Overall, she still looks healthy. I'm trying a gentle flush against possible salinization. Later it turns out that probably helped.

Comfrey This week it was a pleasure to watch the buds of this beautiful plant stretch and stack on top of each other. It's producing trichomes, and a first hint of the smell is in the air. Purple Punch Auto has developed well; I'm quite impressed by the stretching. It needs about half a square meter after the intense low stress training of the past weeks. All the plants are touching now; it's getting tight in the nearly two square meters. Watering is done in the mornings and evenings based on pot weight and feel, about 1.5 liters in 24 hours at up to 30 degrees in the shade.

Comfrey The week flew by. Purple Punch Auto sparkles beautifully in the morning hours and gives off a very pleasant scent. Right now, this one is the strongest smelling of our four little plants. The buds are swelling after a crazy stretch. The intense LST and removal of pesky leaves have ensured that the buds receive very even sunlight and that air can circulate well later in the flowering stage. For two days of the week, the plants were under the awning, as it rained heavily for hours. After I relocated my grasshoppers last week, their munching was getting out of hand, the new pistils are looking good again. Previously, the hoppers liked to nibble on them. Watering is going as usual by feel. On hot sunny days, up to 1.5 liters. That's the news from our balcony; the next few weeks will pass, and then the first season as a weed gardener will be over again.

Comfrey The plant is thriving. I'm surprised at how many flowers it has produced. The humidity is very high in the morning, but so far I don't see any signs of rot. We're probably still a bit away from the dew point. Water + horsetail.

Comfrey It's coming to an end. The plant is clearly showing autumn. 🍂 I will flush with ice water in the hope that some purple will still show.

Comfrey Three ice water flushes and slightly cooler night temperatures have changed the color a bit towards bluish, but the expected purple completely failed to appear. The buds are very sticky, and the scent is noticeable but not particularly intense. In the last week, I snipped off some male flowers, and I also noticed a few seeds. I had the same problem with my Hindu Kush. On day 97, I cut the plant after 48 hours of darkness and hung it upside down.

Expect a massive stretch when it goes into flower. That's been my experience with Barney's plants.

@Fat_Olsh_Farms, I‘m in week 8 already, so… yes, this was massive! 😅 I will load up more fotos later. She needs half a square meter right now after heavy LST. Thanks for commenting! 🙏
the end.
