High everyone :-). I was at Cannafair in Duesseldorf last Sunday, and as you might imagine bought a LOT of seeds, much more than I can grow in the next years. But I will present you one by one here. It was a pleasant surprise to see a booth branded like the famous Netflix show Narcos, which I liked a lot. Turns out that the guys are a seed company! Although it was the end of my round at Cannafair, I could not resist browsing through their catalog. You can find it online here: https://www.narcosseeds.com/en-de. Since I had virtually no cash anymore, I could negotiate to get 6 seeds for 12 EUR :-)
My first choice was not available anymore, so I decided for Strawberry Merengue, which is an auto, so that I could include it in my current season. I bought another fem seed, which will be put to work after this auto grow. A brief description of the strain from the website:
"NARCOS Strawberry Merengue, a strain born from the cross between Fire OG BX and Strawberry Milk, carries a compelling genetic lineage. With a composition of 75% Indica and 25% Sativa, this strain offers an uplifting, calming, and euphoric journey. Its flavor profile is a delicious blend of sweet, strawberry complemented by earthy and nutty undertones."
The fellow germinated in 48 hours, I put it in an Agriwool pellet (I picked up at Cannafair)and a day later the youg girl already looks splendid in her final pot. Here, I make another experiment. I chose a Lechuza Classico Color 28 pot; the pot has a volume of 7l and an automatic watering system. It uses a reservoir at the bottom, which the plant can access after the roots reach the bottom: https://www.lechuza.de/promo/classico-color-ls-28-sandbraun/14272.html#cgid=Pflanzkuebel
I filled the pot with Lechuza Pon, a proprietary mineral mix which has fertiliser for six months. I topped it with Biobizz Coco to not burn my little seedling. I plan on not using any fertiliser in the growth phase and to add a little Terra Bloom or similar later.
I am inviting everyone to join me on this journey into regions of outer space which no one has seen before.
Strawberry Merengue is growing vigorously in the basement. The growth is impressive; this genetic rocks! Everything looks perfect, except for the gnats that become more every day. I ordered SF Nematodes as capsules (already applied) and living (delivery probably on Thursday) and hope to solve to problem by next Sunday.
Strawberry Merengue is growing like crazy, almost doubling in size in the last week. I did not add any fertilizer to the Lechuza Pon mineral substrate. The SF Nematodes did their job, only a few gnats are flying around.
It is astonishing, how well the combination of Lechuza Pon mineral substrate and the Narcos Seed genetic works. Strawberry Merengue shows explosive growth. However, one leaves got brown edges, so I watered a little more. Anyway, I am still not sure when the watering from the reservoir at the bottom of the pot starts working; until now, the lady does not seem to draw from there, but is not using too much water anyway. The manual says you should wait 12 weeks for the roots reaching the reservoir, but I doubt the this vigorous girl takes so long.
Strawberry Merengue is continue to push higher; she added more than 20cm in the last week and has not even started to flower, yet. It is a pleasure to watch her grow.
The growth of Strawberry Merengue in the Lechuza Pon substrate and pot is unbelievable. Flowering has started with a stretch from 45 to 77cm!! And I have not even given any external fertilizer, yet. The lady is only eating the fertilizer provided by the Pon.
Where will this rocket land? My first mineral grow is going to the moon! Strawberry Merengue added another 20cm while also developing lots of flowers. I cut the big fan leaves to give the lower parts better light exposure. After some research, I added a standard mineral fertilizer (Wuxal Blütenpracht, NPK 5-8-10) to the water tank (2.7l). The tank currently lasts two to three days, which means that the lady is drinking sloghtly less than a liter of water per day. The SanLight was at 75% (of 190W).
Strawberry Merengue broke the 1m barrier, but has probably reached her final lenght. Now her buds are developing quickly. Feeding is more than easy. Just 1l of water into the reservoir per day enriched with 2ml Wuxal Blütenpracht (NPK 4-8-10). The lady is starting to smell like strawberries, what a treat!
I am still impressed how this lady is performing. Countless buds are fattening visibly every day. She drinks 1l water with 2ml NPK 5-8-10 every day. Not much to do except for being happy and waiting.
Strawberry Merengue is ripening nicely. The leaves are full of resin and smell like ... strawberry!. I have experimented with different mixtures of mineral fertilisers and may have overdone it. The lady seems to suffer from too much phosporus. Therefore, I filled the tank with water only.
I have started to control ph and EC values. I am continuing to experiment with professional mineral fertilisers. Anyway, the lady still shows signs of burn. Since it is mainly in the upper part, it might be my SanLight at 100%. But in the end I do not care, since the buds are still ripening finely. I will give her two more weeks. Next sunday, I will post pictures of the trichoms.
Starting from today, I only give the lady water. She shows many signs that her lifecycle has come to and end. The trichoms of the top bud are already partly amber; the lower buds also show a few amber spots. Therefore, I will cut her at the end of the week.
I harvested the proud lady on day 86. After cutting the larger fan leaves, I hung her to dry for ten days. Trimming the buds was easy and I received 31g of dry quality buds, great! This is even more impressive considered the minimal effort, basically only using Lechuza Pon and Wuxal Blütenpracht.
